Relaxed morning before bringing the wife's car to the insurance adjuster for repairs after Saturday's wind storm blew some of our house's shingles onto it, damaging the passenger door and window. It also broke the windshield on my TB but getting that done myself since the cost is lower than the deductible. Then working a night shift.

Chilling at home. Got a half day off for my bday at work, and brought home some work for the other half of the day, so no trip to work for me. Part of the reason also is the apartment place is spraying for bugs etc and have this verbage in their little notice letter that they may "inspect" all of our furniture and stuff. Well, with a pregnant wife I want to know what they're spraying and where they're spraying it at. I don't really trust these people to not take the opportunity to dig through our stuff.

Working a half day today. Have a follow up Dr appointment this evening, but didn't feel like sitting in rush hour traffic, plus I have PTO to spare. The morning has been productive, so time has flown, about 45 minutes left until I can head home for lunch. Have some leftover pizza to munch on. Will also get my grocery shopping done since it should be pretty empty. My sister is moving (again) so I'm watching her dog for a couple of weeks. He's unsocialized, and she never lets him outside, so he might as well be a cat

Just waiting for 4 bells, then going home and cutting the grass. Early night tonight because I'm working the Kent State Uni graduation tomorrow and it's a 6am start.

Just woke up after a night shift. Another one tonight. Couple things to do before that; pick up a winning silent auction bid on a full vehicle detailing package ($250 for $130) and renew the license plates on the Caprice. I'd that online but the MTO's stupid system isn't seeing my valid insurance therefore I have to go in to their office for an override .

It's Mother's Day and my 23rd wedding anniversary. What am I gonna do? Smoke me some pulled pork! While that's going on, I'll be taking my 3 mothers out for a nice brunch and tonight, celebrate quietly with Mrs. Moose with a nice pulled pork dinner. Gonna be a nice day!

Replacing a clevis pin on my hitch; I bent the one that holds the spring arm on one side.

The 'difficult' part will be getting the old one out (hopefully a few minutes w/ a hammer & vise grips will pay dividends)

When your hitch mfgr claims you can back up while leaving the spring arms in place - take it with the proverbial grain of salt. Thankfully, replacements are readily available (and cheaper than a new bar!)

Finally took down this 24" black cherry tree that has been slowly dying and too close to my fire ring area to take a chance on when it might decide to come down. The wood will heat my garage for winter projects and the stump will now serve as a table while we're sitting around the fire.:2thumbsup:100_4259.JPG

Well, my first smoked pulled pork went well except didn't make it in time for dinner. Smoker had trouble keeping the proper temperature so I wound up wrapping it up and finishing it in the oven. Turned out awesome! All I used was apple cider vinegar with apple juice and some rib-rub I got from Bulk Barn. Beautiful smoke ring and oh-so-tender. Pulled and sauced it with Dinosaur BBQ tangy sauce.

Next time, gonna get a flavour injector and figure out this smoker. More YT videos.

Tell 'em you could get a job for 25% more pay. Don't mention the vacation differences. See if they boost your pay?

Did some work this morning, and now feel unmotivated since I don't have anything important to do anymore, just busy work.

Looking up truck parts (and stuff for the house), didn't realize our motor mounts cost as much as they do (for ACD, I should say). Only have an issue with 1 at the moment, but might as well do both since I'll be under there at some point anyway.

It's pretty cheap but had some good reviews. A bit on the flimsy side. It got to temp great but as I added lump charcoal, it wouldn't get back up. And any breeze just sucked the heat out of it. I'm probably doing something wrong when adding the charcoal.

The cheap thermometer was way off. I used a wireless temp sensor.

You might want to try and build a windbreak out of 3 pieces of plywood hinged together. It'll still draw in air, but wind is deadly for non-insulated smokers.

When you add the charcoal, don't close the door back up straight away because you're essentially snuffing the fire.

@xavierny25 for that type of smoker it's normally dry.

@Mooseman I just had another thought. I don't know the size of the charcoal basket it has, but you could try the minion method for the charcoal. I do something similar with my drum and haven't had to add more charcoal yet.

Was at work today, went to insurance adjuster for getting the TB's windshield and other light damage fixed. Yesterday, brought my wife's '02 CRV to get fixed and got a Jeep Wrangler as a rental. Wife was happy  . Decided to wait until her car was fixed and I'll bring in the TB but just keep the Jeep during that time

I used a chimney starter (the exact same one linked by @xavierny25 ) to initially start it but then was just adding more to the lit coals. My son suggested I use the chimney each time I reload it. I'm gonna have to do something to protect it from the wind because I did see the temp drop as the wind would come up.

Yep, have one.

It's pretty shallow, like a pie plate. There is a grate but it doesn't sit properly. Thinking of making a deeper pan with a grate so the ashes drop. So I'll be modding my smoker

I just looked at photo's of the inside, in a word, I think you're buggered. Here's some pics of my drum, you'll see my charcoal basket is quite large.

On my lunch break, glad I just finished eating before I hopped on here, or I woulda been mad at @Matt all morning

Half the team is out today sick, so we have 1 full timer and our part timer. I pitched in on a couple of things, but have had a decent amount of stuff come my way to make the day fly by. Hope I didn't just jynx myself, and end up with a painfully long afternoon! :ugh:

@dna59 so far, so good, my man!

Kinda missed it from yesterday, but helped move my sister's W&D, and some other large heavy objects out of a 3rd story walk up, and put them into storage. So today my quads, hammies and calves are sore as :lipsrsealed: It's been raining off and on all day, so haven't gone anywhere, but need to go grocery shopping.

My sister is currently going through some tough times, and lost her car 2 years ago. She's been depending on other people to get her where she needs to go and that's getting really old. So hooked up with Triz to buy his old '01 Mazda Tribute for her to get herself around town. Times like these make me very grateful for the community we have here, and the relationships we're able to build. :grouphug:
