Ran around like a blue arsed fly today.
Headed out at 8:30 this morning to get the grocery shopping done before the crowds descend. Headed north to pick up a driver shaft I had a different...
Ran some errands this morning. They want to have level 2 background checks done for staff at work, so went and got my finger printing done while I was out. Stopped by Harbor Freight for a couple...
Rack and Pinion = $260
Power steering fluid = $9
Tip about plug socket = Priceless 😉
Thanks for the tip, paired with a ratchet wrench it was easy. Note: it was a shallow 12 point 13/16" plug...
It occurs to me that if these are THAT easy to get to, I can probably just put my hand on them while i turn on the truck and feel which, if any of them, are the ones ticking. Hopefully I have time...
Personally, I would begin by replacing BOTH the MODE and the DEFROST actuators. These are the two that control where the airflow goes AND they are the easiest to do. They are right next to each...
Just wanted to add something for future readers since I've been thinking about these - if they're destroyed as mine were, a possible replacement option might be to acquire an appropriately sized...
Haha. Key On Engine Off, I should have known.
OK. Well, I checked all these things and I found good connections and no resistance problems.
Today I was luck to get a visit from my...
I think the EXT was feeling neglected, since I spend all of my free time on house projects, and not tinkering with it much anymore. This issue reared it's head again on Thursday evening. Started...
It's located at the fuel filter under the truck.
I only mentioned the EXT because they had early failures of the tank filler neck that SWB trucks are now starting to show the same type of failure.
Moved to the News section.
Did a little digging and this is what I found:
Since it's from a batch from 2022, unless it sat on a shelf since then (either yours or at the dealer/store), might not...
There are 5 actuators:

Try each control individually. For the mode, go from defrost to dash vents for the...
That's pretty classic for a stepper motor failure. When some of mine failed, they'd twitch up a little bit when they were supposed to do the sweep, then just fall back, usually below the zero...
P0340 is not for the crank sensor but for the camshaft sensor. This might be the cause of the stalling. I would tackle this first to eliminate it as a possible source. Pull it out, clean it and...
Sorry I started a new thread to get more attention... I was planning on putting this in tomorrow.
Anyways, I'm looking at this new steering rack and this doesn't look right to me but I didn't...
No personal experience but did you check the voltage with a DMM at the connector? Check with key on engine off as it is a switched power to it. Check again with a light bulb (like a brake...
Welcome! I've driven a lot of these during my service and they also suffer from AFM lifter failure so at the very least, deactivate it before it does.
Enjoy!
The work went as planned. The engine air filter had some pine needles and straw on it and in the air box and because of the MAF sensor location, had to remove the air box top for access and the...
I'd try it in D and see how it acts. Probably will still need to downshift to 3rd going up grades or you notice it hunting between 3rd and 4th. Headwinds can also affect towing.
I guess it would depend on the terrain and gearing. If you have the GU6 gearing, I would tow in 3rd.
If you are noticing the transmission shifting more than it would normally, put it in 3rd.
Before replacing all of the COPs in One Go... Visit THIS interesting and again ...Spot On.... Coil On Plug "Bench-Top" Diagnostic for ALL of the GM Vortec 4, 5 and 6 In-Line Cylinder Motors...
Just watched the video. I'm not too sure about the carb cleaner being sprayed all over stuff to find vacuum leaks. Wouldn't that be a problem on plastic and rubber parts?
I've always used a...
