Another start to another week, another $.50 in the bank. Corporate is rolling out a new supplementary database system this week. Local site admins have an introductory session in a few minutes, then we have a standard user training session later this afternoon. Everyone was supposed to get their logins setup at some point today, I haven't heard a peep out of anyone, so I'm hoping for the best case scenario, and not a flood of "OMG I forgot, can you help me since the training session starts in 5 minutes!" scenarios instead. :compu-punch:

Good luck with that Carlton!

As for me, I'm at home with steroids and percocets for the next few days. Heavy lifting at Lowes is the likely candidate for the L1 nerve going to the groin being a bit of a bastard at the moment...the drive to Indy and back last Friday didn't help it apparently.

Work, then stopped by the insurance adjuster to find out WTF is going on with the wife's car, which they declared a total loss. Been 3 weeks driving the rental Jeep. They finally said "screw it" and took care of the loss and issued a settlement which was actually more than what their total loss unit would have offered. So left the TB to get fixed and took the wife's car home and we keep the Jeep some more! Shouldn't take too long this time. Just a windshield and small scratches.

No issues with logins, but my boss was annoying. She wanted to IM me through most of the webinar asking random questions about unrelated stuff. "Hello? I need to pay attention if I'm going to be the point person for our office!" :hopeless:

Now I'm home, just finished dinner. Going to have to sit my sister down for one of those house rules talks, as she hasn't organized the storage locker that's her room, like she was supposed to do over the past 2 weeks. This should be fun... :ugh:

It's been a serious case of the Mondays... While enjoying some TV, I realize I have my ceiling fan on high, when it's usually on low, and I still felt warmer than comfortable. :undecided:

Stroll over to the thermostat, it's blinking and reading 84 degrees. oddly enough, a number of my other friends had hvac drainage issues. I had installed a aux float switch last year, and when I checked the air handler, there was a little water on the garage floor. Disconnected the float switch and yep, it was full.

Unscrewed the primary drain and there was this doo doo brown sludge clogging the tube. Disconnected the cold water hose from the washer, screwed it onto the drain pipe and let it rip full blast while I walked around outside the garage to see the drain clearing out.

Turned my HV fan on the puddle while I put everything back, and now my AC is blowing nice and cold, just in time for bed

Slow day in the office today, and the afternoon is dragging. Not feeling motivated to do busy work, so I've been thinking of new home projects to work on, even though I have a to-do list a mile long. New one I came up with, instead of dropping $150-200 on a good sized tow behind cart to hook up to the riding mower, why not build one? I still have the steel palette the mower came on, the poles that went into the 4 corners, and the steel braces to keep the corner poles vertical.

So I could go the flatbed route, or have removable walls as an option if I cut up some plywood and zip tie them to the poles or something. Easiest route would be to drill holes in the side of the palette frame, slide a 1/2" axle through, and slap some 13" wheels on. Get some square tubing to make a tongue, haven't figured out what structure yet, and then finish the end so it jives with the mower connection. More complicated route would be to make the palette hinged, so it has a dump feature.

Knowing me, should probably leave that alone, or I'll never get done with it in time to use it this summer.:whiteflag::stars:

A team meeting and 3 conference calls ate up the majority of my afternoon, so while I was occupied, I was still mildly bored

Decided to go ahead and install my motion sensing light switch in the kitchen now, instead of waiting until I picked up the LED light fixtures I have my eye on. Works nicely so far. Manual (de)activation gives a fade on/off effect. Motion detection makes it come on at the target brightness. I can set the brightness where I want it, and go to instant 100% brightness with a double tap of the switch. Nice feature, doubt I'll really ever need it.

IMG-20180607-WA0002.jpeg

Slight issue I hadn't accounted for, the wall plate for the existing switch had a thermometer built into the top, which the previous owner painted around, so now there's a nice blank section above the new switch. :Banghead:

Man that sucks. Had them a few times before I cut out any mountain dew and almost all soda pop. Worst pain I ever dealt with. Unorthodox, but drink cheap beer and water to stay hydrated and make you pee alot and it will move them and the pain is numbed.

Today is organizing in the cube for an appt on Tuesday and figuring out if i can get out of here and start my weekend early

I haven't had the displeasure to go through that, but one of my teammates has a few times since I've worked here. Definitely sounds like going through hell and doubling back again. :worried:

Hoping for a smooth day down here, would like to leave early today, but don't think that's in the cards. Will keep my eye on the skies, if the scattered rain holds off until I get home, I may mow the weeds, and get that out of the way for the weekend.

More work on the ATV. After 10hrs over 3 days my friend finally got the damn thing to idle right. That carb was not happy after sitting some years. Naturally, high priority of mine was getting all lights functional. Fixed some rat chewed wires, replaced some bulbs, cleaned up the headlights and installed a light bar. I wonder what I will tackle tomorrow. Not much left to do until I get parts in.

Welp, the skies opened up and it's been pouring for a while. Checked the home security cams on my phone, saw some standing water in a few spot of the lawn. No mowing until Sunday, more than likely.

One of the employees here is retiring, and going on an RV tour of the country soon, so there was a farewell gimmick in the break room. I had a webinar to attend, but people made sure to make me aware of the fact there were 4 cakes involved, and only about a quarter of everything was actually eaten. Went and got me a plate full of cake, and happily munched on that, but now I feel the strong urge for a nap. Little more than an hour to go, then I can go home, relax and start the weekend.

After I drop wifey at work this morning went over to pick up the Voy's fishing and off road tag.20180608_171009.jpg
removed the old tag and slapped on the new one.
Then I ran over to staples and had my DEP tag and id printed and laminated.20180608_171053.jpg
That allows me to fish and do recreational stuff on DEP land and reservoirs.
After that ran over to my mother-in-laws house to replace a kitchen faucet and toilet seat.
And then ran over to the bait and tackle shop to pick up a rod I needed to be worked on. Also picked up some goodies for some shore fishing.
3:45 had to head back and pick up wifey got home and did some stuff to the Voy. check the what did you do to your gmt today for all that. Busy,Busy,Busy...

^^^ I saw that NPS tag and thought - "Five hundred years! Where'd he get that? I want one!"
Then I realized '2579' was the permit #, not the expiration date... :duh:

Seeing that Vega reminds me of what I saw a couple of days ago somewhere in MT - a Monza notchback - in Butternut (?) yellow. Brought back memories. I remember my aunt driving a same vintage Pontiac Sunbird (silver-blue; I didn't know GM paint colors back then, so don't ask...lol)

Got up early before the sun started baking too much, and mowed the yard. Noticed some holes dug along the fence line by some of the stray cats. May need to invest in some chicken wire or something :undecided: Spread out the compose pile, and added all the new grass clippings to it, that's coming along nicely, should have a good amount to work with in the fall/next spring.

Got the house cleaned up a little bit and did some laundry. Got some goodies in the mail, so installed my new UV lamps into my air handler. The previous ones have been out since I bought the house, so it was good to check that off the to-do list. Now I'm relaxing for a few hours, going out to watch the UFC fights and get some wings with the fellas to cap off a productive Saturday.

Looking at some professional recording equipment. I've always had a talent with voice acting, so I figured i'd go about and start recording some stuff. Perhaps find some things to voice-over and post to YouTube?

After moving 1512 paving stones yesterday and making a steak dinner for the helpers, today is clean out the swamp day (the pool). With work and everything else, I just haven't had the time to deal with it. I hope I can recover that water because that's $360 per truck load of water. I'm on a well so can't use the faucet. I'll skim out as much crap out as I can, dump a bunch of chlorine in it and then call for a water truck tomorrow. I think I will also need a new salt water system cell ($$$). I hate the pool.

@Mooseman Instead of buying chlorine at stupid prices, use 8.25% or more bleach...it's the same thing. Also, check out troublefreepool.com probably the best pool website/forum on the net that teaches you to use household chemicals for your pool instead of the pool store bought, high $ ones. They have a pool calculator as well, so you can put your numbers in ie: gallons of water, FC, CYA etc and it'll tell you exactly how much of what to use.

Got up early while the lawn was still wet and put down some of that herbicide on the front yard, and a small portion of the back. Even though it was 8am, still ended up drenched in sweat. Gotta love FL humidity. :ugh: After being out late last night, took an unplanned nap on the couch. About to head to the grocery store to stock up for the week, then TV time.

I hope I can recover that water because that's $360 per truck load of water. I'm on a well so can't use the faucet.

That adds up fast. I'd send you some of our afternoon thunderstorms if I could. With a couple of well placed and slanted tarps, your pool would be full quick and easy.

I've been on Troublefreepool.com for years and use cheap grocery store stuff instead of expensive pool store stuff. This time though, bought a pail of shock because it's just that bad.

Got it to a lighter shade of green. Got the pump going and... the damn thing leaks! And I had rebuilt it last year but never used . Took it apart and I think it's because of a gouge I put in the ceramic seal holder. Put some RTV and letting it cure. Will try it again later. I'll get a load of water tomorrow to top it off.

My buddy just came back from a quick 2 day shopping trip to the US and brought me a bottle of Jim Beam Maple. That will be my dessert tonight :2thumbsup:

Bruh, I took a pool with 6 inches of visibility and had it to 7 feet in 24 hours. No one can touch me after that lol.

The cheap stuff is fine as long as you don't over use it or you keep on top of it. I get asked a lot why some people get a scum line on the line of the pool. Usually they're using the cheap no name brand tablets for chlorine and the binder dissolves into the water. Not a big deal but annoying to remove. The baking soda tends to cloud the pool of your alkalinity is really low too. It's expensive but the stuff won't cause any issues if you use it. And you usually need less of it. Then again we only sell top shelf chemicals. I don't know what the chains use.

People always gasp at our prices but its not the stuff you get at Walmart or even some of our other competitors. With cheap stuff you need to watch chemical balances because sometimes one chemical may eat away at another depending what is in it.

I would say Nu-Clo is the best quality chemical you can use (What we sell in our store). Pool season isnt bad too. These are the company’s that I have sold in the store.

Ordered my girlfriend a shiatsu foot massager, one with excellent reviews. She has extremely painful plantar fasciitis as well as fallen arches in her feet. Best we've been doing up until now is soaking her feet in my 5 gallon bucket with Epson salt and massaging her feet with muscle rub. I really hope this will finally help her out.

Well, the pool saga continues. Yesterday was a total bust when I turned on the pump, it leaked like a sieve. Take it apart and the pump seal plate had melted around the ceramic seal. Local pool supply places can't get it for 2-3 weeks and Amazon.ca are out. However, Amazon.com have them in stock and cheaper even with the US>CAD conversion. Added a new seal kit and basket and all should be here by Thursday with express delivery.

So today, I think I'll finish the Caprice's radio install by making up a USB and Aux input connection to it and get my dash back together. Yesterday also installed the new wheels and tires. Looks damn good!

Pics? I've reused some pretty nasty plates in the field. The worst one is at 5 years now and still leak free. Did it actually enrobe the stone? Hayward pump?

I'm currently on my lunch break. Then more work.

I think the stone is canted or something. No matter, I ordered a whole seal kit and the plate. Pool is on hold until Saturday.

I just love throwing money into a pit, literally. After it's done, I'll count the number of times she uses it and tell her it cost $XXX per swim, not including the electricity to run the pump.

EMERGENCY floor repair.... vacant apt. the tenant is moving in on Friday. Super asked me this morning to look it over and make sure everything was in order. Someone (I say it was a rental agent) left the a.c on over the weekend and the "Not so good a.c froze over and defrosted all over the floor causing a whole lot of damage.20180612_101500.jpg
I took the damaged floor up. Sent the super to the nut house (our local hardware store name) for a few of some stain, sealer, poly in one cans. We got lucky and one can is close to a perfect match.20180612_115303.jpg
I just got the floor put back in and I'll do the 1st coat of poly when I get back from lunch.20180612_112320.jpg
In picture is 1 of the building porters giving me a hand with clean up.
This is a real close call since I never go back to apt. that are awaiting a move in. So I saved the buildings supers @$$ once again.
