Ebay, but you'll need to mod your boards, or I'll give you a good deal on my boards that I'm not using (non-SRCK + quad tails).

And why did the DEALER do your brakes? It amazes me how much people will pay for a simple job like brakes. If you don't know how to do brakes, how would you check to see if they did them correctly?

They had them done before we bought the TB. I just recently learned how easy brakes are to do, had to do the rear brakes on the Suburban. Basically, if you can operate a jack and turn a socket, you can do your own brakes.

Today, I put the correct size belt on the truck. Partially my own fault for not remembering the LWB gets the short belt.

Well today I was in clean mode. I decided to clean up the truck inside and out and even cleaned the throttle body.

Am I the only one that can never find an air freshener that doesn't smell terrible? This is the third time trying and I give up now.

You are on the road to becoming a GMTnation backyard mechanic Ramrod :thumbsup:

Well, I have always loved to "tinker" and do basic routine maintenance. But, with recent changes in finances, I have had to take many more maintenance issues into my own hands. But, now I can teach my boys to save some money and do it themselves!

Took mine to the lake with my wife and son. Then cleaned the throttle body when we got home.

Got my temp sensor and harness from Amazon today, so I soldered the harness in to complete the installation of my new (used) auto-dim compass temp mirror.:wootwoot:

Need to backtrack slightly.....

Had tires mounted sometime when my son's shoe size was a half size smaller earlier this year.......with kids it's hard to keep track.

Before I had the tires mounted I replaced my left tie rod end to end up with the correct alignment.

I had a wait appt on a Sat and low and behold, the alignment rack wouldn't power up. I was sent to a sister shop 10 miles away and when they finished I hit the hwy to find my steering wheel crooked. Came back and they said someone was already on the rack and I was furious. I gave up and had stuff to do. Went back to original shop next week and they straightneed it but said I needed lower ball joints and bring it back when I replaced them. Fine.

Granted this is my goto shop so when I spoke with the manager about my ordeal I had some free goodies. :wootwoot: They cannot guarantee my tires without a proper alignment so that's understandable.

I originally replaced the left tie rod and the shop moved the right one due to the spray oil I found...

So what did I do to my GMT today.....

When I stopped for a cup of joe on the way home I felt the tires and they were warm on the insides, due to slight wandering I figured they were toed out.

When I arrived home (10PM) I jacked up one side (in the driveway with a flashlight) and rotated the tires, beforehand I measured my front toe.....the center tread was just over 1/4" wider in front so it was toed out big time. I took each tie rod and brought each side in 1/2 turn and now she doesn't wander and after about 15 miles the front tires were cool across the entire tread. Didn't measure but will in the morning, however I can guarantee it's ALOT straighter than it was and probably right on track or within spec.

Naturally I can't count on that and will get it checked but lower ball joints next for sure. I was getting some slight feathering on the insides which sparked my whole process. At least for now I can save the tread until I do get the alignment.

I have very similar rust on the bottom of the pass door. Anyone know the best course of action to keep it from spreading and becoming an issue?

^ LOL

Got to work cutting down my CB antenna a bit to tune it. I had been getting around 2.5:3, now I'm like 1:1.5. Next time, I'll have to be sure to get one with the tuning screw in the tip, this whole cutting fiberglass thing gets annoying after a while.

Painted some more trim...the front bumper plastic and grill. Also sanded, primed and painted an underbody crossmember that had a bunch of rust spots from rocks chipping the paint. Not the best lighting, but some pics anyway:

You never get a nail in the old tires just the new ones. On the car with the new snow tires last year we picked up two nails in the same tire. Just to make you happy :hissyfit::hissyfit:
