Pressure washed the engine in preparation for the work to start tomorrow. Now it's misfiring in #1. Gonna need new plug wires.

I also ran engine flush in the oil. Will drain it tomorrow.

Installed an encoder motor and changed the fuel filter. She's running way better now and that encoder motor solved my 4x4 issues. Glad to have that piece of mind back! :celebrate:

Replaced the Oil Pressure Sensor on the last Oil Change. Sensor was leaking, Oil was getting into the Electrical Pigtail causing off & on connection issues. Was going to replace the Pigtail too but decided to try to use some CRC Electrical Cleaner first and everything is going good so far.

I finally had a day off so I picked up where I left off in March. Today I tried testing the actual oil pressure (didn't happen LOL) and testing the oil pressure switch circuits (did happen, as shown above). I also gave her an oil and filter change.

Yesterday all new rotors and pads all the way around. Replaced the 2 front brake calipers. Flushed and replaced all the brake fluid. Also replaced front passanger side half shaft assembly. I have to go back today as we noticed 1 front sway bar end link was busted.

It was in the 50s this morning so my climate control in my truck switched to heat. Well, after it warmed up it went back to vent with a slight heat mix to maintain temp, but I got blasted by full heat on my driver side vents. Great, dead blend actuator I'm guessing :hissyfit:

Right before I left to pick up lunch I yanked the fuse for the HVAC, waited, put it back in, then fired up the truck. Turned HVAC on after letting it sit for a minute to recalibrate and I had cool air from the vents again.

Temp fix? Maybe. Don't know. But at least my trip to Cleveland later won't be spent with hot air blasting from my vents!

Some more progress on the Saab today. Pulled the timing cover, oil pump, timing chain, lifters and cam. New cam already in as I had the evaporator in an awkward position out of the way to clear the cam. Also cleaned up the piston tops as they were heavily carboned.

Last night...

I did some Trans upgrading/refreshing...

Changed out both Shift Solenoids (1-2 & 3-4)...
1471956635511.jpg
Replaced the Filter and Pan Gasket...
1471956635768.jpg
And installed the Dorman Pan with the Drain Plug...
1471956635901.jpg

Now to install the Hayden 678 Trans Cooler which I should get around to doing this coming weekend...plus I'm still waiting on the True-Cool Trans By-pass Valve to arrive before I start the install.

Have a great week everyone!

Ordered some wheel bearings. Killed another set and waited too long to pay attention and have some cupping on a tire. Will have to rotate them and wear it back to good.

Cut a 24"x30" odd shape square out of the carpet and pad from the rear passenger floorboard.
A week ago I brought it to a local dealer, Merit Chevrolet in Maplewood MN to have the front driver side axle seal replaced. I could use my own fluid and parts, plus I just noticed the leak the day before and was going out of town in 3 days so I had them change the oil and tranny filter while it was in.
I placed a plastic garbage bag inside a brown grocery bag with a $5 bill and a note to place the Mobil1 75w-90 quart in when complete. I even told the advisor guy that the $5 was for the tech to put the jug in the bag up front. We'll as I rolled out, I though s/he may have used it all as a fill is .85 qts (?) and the $5 and empty bag were on the passenger floor. Not wanting to be that guy and already upset it took 8 hrs for man 2.5hrs I left.

The smell gets heavier for the next day and after sniffing out the source, the quart of 75w-90 with 60% remaining was lying on the back floor just behind the driver's seat. :badday:
Dawn, fast orange, pine sol all do well to remove stains but NOTHING will remove the smell of gear oil. Kind of why I saved myself the headache of even bringing it to them to clean. How much time would I waste without a ride for a meaningless attempt? The same dealer spray painted my rear wheel well silver too when I was clipped by a snow plow. I wrote an email and left an advisor a message asking that this doesn't happen to next guy.

So now it sits sealed up basking in the sun. Hoping it smells like it's old dirty self when I go back out. I know this is my fault but why was the jug placed in back? Who said to do that? :deadhorse:

Truck runs solid and great at 171k miles. Need the smell out because I have been kenneling the pup in there during dock diving competitions. Last one is this weekend. Can't have him getting sick or myself smelling like (whatever you think clean 75w-90 gear lube smells like) at work because it permeates on the drive in.

Pic from S6 too big to load from phone :quiverlips:

Too bad this happened, but I have found that this is all to common as no one listens or communicates what has really been done, you have to watch over them to make sure things get done the way you want, I take my own oils to get them changed and I find myself teaching the techs common sense things like putting the remaining containers back in plastic bag standing upright and secured so that it does not fall over etc.

Ps. Gear lube is the worst smell.

Noticed last night that only the driver's door speaker and the two front tweeters were working in the Silverado. I knew the driver's rear door speaker was shot when I bought the truck, but the passenger side speakers dying is pretty recent. So this evening I took the front doors apart and swapped those speakers with some Polk speakers. Replaced passenger side first, tested, put the door back together, did the driver side, tested, and only the driver side door works  Now I know the head unit is putting audio out to the passenger side all the time as the tweeter on the A pillar is always working...

I guess I get to track down a bad connection someplace. This could be fun.

I'll get the rear doors later once I figure out the front.

Saved it at a restaurant today. Got a call at work from mom saying she was at jack's and the trans messed up and it's locked in neutral.

Left work and got to her, slid under it and... Who'da thunk it but the shifter bushing had let go... manually shifted it to reverse then back to drive after she backed out of the parking spot and followed her home, shifted it into Park and now chilling for a bit eating lunch trying to decide if I wanna go back to work or work on the TB.

$13.07 at orielly's and 20 minutes later she's back in commission. :wooot:

Bushing was located behind the counter, told dude what I was looking for after finding a generic assortment of them and I barely got it out of my mouth before he took off into the shelves and had the right one sitting on the counter in front of me 20 seconds later, Dorman #14055. Must be way more common than I thought it was.

Was a slight pain to put in and required coaxing with a pocket screwdriver but it's in and working.

Got the speaker fixed in the Silverado. The connection in the door to the speaker was to blame. Unplugged and plugged it a bunch of times to scrape off some junk inside there and it is good to go. Went ahead and got the rear door speakers done too.

First impression - much better!

More progress on the 5.3. Cleaned the heads and installed new valve guide seals, installed the timing chain and oil pump. Hit a snag to install the heads as I lost one of the locating dowels when I removed the heads and it was getting dark out.

Finally got her cleaned. Removed my front bumper cover and fixed a couple gaps and secured it much better than it was. Removed the red GMC emblems on the wheels...I think it looks cleaner that way. I also got a replica Denali grille overlay and a Behr fan clutch. I drove my friend's Trailblazer and realise my Hayden fan clutch is just too loud for me when it engages on high...idk if the severe duty designation has something to do with it. Was going to order the ACdelco but from hours of research it seems its just a Behr and that was the brand that was in it initially.

Was yours already wired for the turn signal?

Attempted to replace the rear endlinks. One came off. The other had about 3 threads left. I gave up and moved onto my thumping issue. I noticed that the spring insulator was smashed between the frame and the spring. I repositioned it and sure enough, it didn't solve the thumping. I'll check on it maybe Tuesday and see if the insulator popped out again.

Not a good day for sure. Might shower and get Chipotle.

Yep I had the mirrors changed earlier so I just added the LED strips cause the bulbs rarely showed up in the day time

Oh I also changed my license plate bulbs as the cheapy ones were going on and off

Last night...I replaced the Upstream 02 Sensor since it looked original/factory and looking to get the best MPG possible...
1472477911341.jpg
And I also replaced the Rear HVAC Temperature Control Actuator that went to poop/died last time I disconnected the battery...
1472477911548.jpg

Ordered AC Delco for both parts but the Actuator has the words "TMI" printed on it. The part number printed on it matches the AC Delco part number...so not sure what that's about.

IIRC, AC Delco has some of their stuff manufactured by other companies. Not 100% if these said parts have the AC Delco name stamped on or not besides the packaging.
