Drove it to work. Was nice looking through a brand new windshield... Then I hit 55 mph and the thing whistled like the intro to Back in the USSR... It is going back tonight. Why is it always my crap that gets effed up.

Somebody had to draw the FNG at the glass shop. It's bullshit but it's always a crap shoot.
Well the sad thing is the owner is the one who did it and then came back to fix it. It seems like the weather stripping along the doors, the trim, isn't flush to the glass and that's the problem. He's done about 12 for us in the last 2 years.

Edit: for clarification he did for me at my aunts house. Which was convenient.

Got the estimate for the truck yesterday. $2700 ish. Pretty sure I can fix myself for $500 or less because I see no need to put all that effort and money into a full body work and respray of the bedside that is rusting over the wheel well anyway. Shop will need to fix the exhaust but the rest I can do.

Crawled under the back end and checked for anything loose as I’m getting a clunking noise going over bumps, but only in the real cold temperatures. Found the RR shock top bolt a little loose, was able to do a quarter turn on it. Hopefully this was the cause. Will find out tomorrow.

Looking for rear bumpers. Shoot I can buy a brand new stock equivalent for under $300 shipped to my door. Doing this repair for <$500 should be easy. Just the weather sucks for it.

I still need to track down my front end clunk/vibration noise. Just have not had time to get under there and take a bunch of stuff apart hunting for it. Hm, maybe I'll take the truck to the shop for the exhaust repair and while they're at it have them track that problem down as well so I know what I need to do. Time isn't on my side really these days so having the diagnostics done for me might be a good idea. With the insurance payout it would be worth a few extra bucks for that I suppose.

Not sure when that insurance check will show up though.

Made my way over to my brothers shop today to check in on my freshly powder coated parts. I'm super hyped for next weekend and getting all or most of these parts put in.20190119_171534.jpg

Went out yesterday morning to find my right rear tire sitting on the rim. We got our first decent snow here, so of course all the shops that were open(not many around here) were plastered with people who recently discovered their tires were bald. I think it may need a patch instead of a plug because shrapnel so I threw the rusty spare on today. On the bright side, we were below zero last night and the cable lowered down smooth as silk. I didn't anticipate that.

Looked at it sitting in the driveway covered in snow.

for some reason my wife is convinced that the TB just slips and slides in the snow, and her 2000 Durango is much better.

Could be the tires, PO put Primewell Valeras on it, I had bought those once before and they were, well, cheap tires.

Likely is the tires.

My truck is sitting with icy snow on it. Starting to think the squeak from the accessory drive (that is getting worse) is coming from the water pump. It is factory original. Should have addressed sooner so it wasn't in the dead of winter.

Started working on my cluster led swap but got side tracked by a crazy electrical gremlins and while working on it fudge up the right turn signal pad. 20190124_182301.jpg
20190125_114858.jpg
I ordered a used cluster from a local yard that had one. The milage on it is about 116???k . Going to pick it up later today.20190125_084638.jpg
Had the cluster completely turn apart from last night so this is how I got my wife to work this morning. Lol.
After contacting @Blckshdw this morning and going back and forth for a few hrs via text I fixed one broken wire at my driver side switch back and switching bulbs and trying different thing the lights, dash and everything else finally started working correctly. I still cant pin point what fixed it but it's all working. I'm going to go over all of my wiring and connections this spring before things continue to fall apart. Thanks for your time and patience Carlton I really appreciate it.

Every time I think I'm done spending on the Envoy it proves me wrong. Finally found out today that my lower control arm bushings are bad. They don't make noise all the time, just in particular situations. Really been debating picking up a V6 Terrain Denali from the salvage auctions. Sick of spending on the Envoy and need something with a little better mpg.

Replaced the bumper and fixed the bed corner so the tailgate works again.1 min of tapping with a dead blow, a little push by hand, and it looks pretty dsrn close. The bunper is aftermarket and there are a few telltale signs that it is, but it is better than the bent up OEM one and cost less than half as much. For a 12 year old 200+k truck it is good enough!

Now to get it in the shop for the exhaust repair.

Let's see if pics from my phone are upside down again...

Not to it but for it.... Had these filler moldings I needed to paint match and install, so while it was a nice smooth quiet day at work I completed prep, paint and got them ready to install.20190127_105648.jpg

I replaced my factory roof rails for the Saab rails and in doing so I was left with this. The Saab's and TBSS's have a molding to fill this gap. After prep and paint I have my gap filler and installed.20190127_185358.jpg

Another thing off my to do list on the Voy.

Ordered the Voy a new turn signal switch. Screenshot_20190128-151101_Gmail.jpg
The original on the truck now has been turning on the high beams when we push up for a right turn and acting weird at times. No issue when I push down for a left turn.

Dropped it off at the shop to get the exhaust fixed and have them diagnose/fix a clunk noise that feels like it is under the driver seat sometimes, and a belt drive squeak that I suspect is the water pump. I could do those last two things but dead of winter sucks for it.

Insurance got me a rental while the truck is getting fixed as the main reason for the shop visit is the damage from the accident. They put me in a 2018 f150. 10 speed auto transmission is a bit weird feeling.

Interested in hearing more details on this, and your impressions of the truck overall (compared to your Silvy), once you've spent some time with it.

Took my truck for an alignment, had the place down the street from me replace the lower control arms and ball joints. They were running a special on fuel injector cleaning so I splurged. I normally don't buy into these, but I figured since they'll pull the injectors whats the worse that can happen? Pickup seems to be pretty good so far, no bogging down or anything of that sort.

Not looking forward to the morning commute tomorrow. Hopefully the Envoy is a trooper in the -40's.

Moog springs and Bilstein struts. I’m excited to take a test drive and see how she drives. Maybe if usps will decide to deliver my pcm to limeswap I’ll be able to get it back someday5C182BAB-2708-4FA3-965C-F9828AF8AF4A.jpeg

Is that dirt on your springs, or did the paint get damaged like that from the spring compressors?

And idk why my pics keep uploading sideways. Oh well

That will happen if you take pics with your phone in the portrait position. You'll either need to always turn your phone sideways for landscape, or use software or an app to disable auto-rotation of the pic. :twocents:

I wish it was dirt. The spring compressors kind of mangled them. Might try to touch them up but I don't want to get my struts with the overspray.
Good to know. I guess I'll take pics on landscape for here.

Talked to shop. Exhaust is twisted up more than I thought, needs more stuff replaced as it can't be straightened out. The banging up front is from the exhaust flex pipe going bad, and then the impact totally screwed it, letting the pipe bang off the crossmember. Hey, insurance money pays for something already starting to fail. Nice lol.

Hoping to get it back today but we'll see.

Picked up a replacement NP246 T-case for the old Sierra. It'll go as a package deal to the buyer, or I'll put the pump rub fixes in and sell it for 2x what I paid (as if I need another project...lol).

Went to the local Pull a Part yesterday and scored a TCCM off an 06 for $25, so that should take care of the occasional non 4WD issue. Got clear mirror lenses for $4 a piece and a drivers side mirror glass for about $3. That should take care of the defrost actually working, although I'm losing the dimming function. Got some struts for the rear glass (now I have to try and open said glass somehow because the lock is stuck closed) and a new dipstick from an 05 so I don't have the plastic nub on the end. Sent a PM to @TXBlazer for some new LED inserts...mine were toast.
