Washed both trucks today, got rid of all the salt residue. Checked all the regular stuff.
So I was picking up family from the airport last night and on the way home noticed my headlights shining upwards, I have recently aimed them and new they were good, so just a little extra weight in it 4 adults and 2 suit cases and the rear end sags! But when empty sits fine, I guess it's time for new rear springs.?

Front brakes. Would have been quick except for a seized caliper bracket slide pin. Fortunately I managed to get it out, since I called around and nobody had a caliper bracket in stock. Replaced both pins on the left side, which was good, since I sorta rounded one of them going the wrong way trying to loosen it and the new pins came with new bolts.

The stuck pin was probably due to the obvious boot failure, and I realized while replacing the boots that I couldn't remember replacing the boots on the front ever. Live and learn, I guess.

Soldered some 20 AWG wire to the wires in the LED mirror insert that broke the other day. TXBlazer is sending me a couple goodies to I can install them correctly, but for the time being, I just put the wires in the stock harness and taped them up. Should be good until I can re-do them properly.

Now you get to chop the can off again right?

Ha....I should have lopped off the OE but never got around to it. I do plan on using an aftermarket resonator with a tapered tip....should at least be more pleasing to the eye.

I didn't have time today to even try to hack that can off....I had about 2 hours to get this done, which is why it looks like the Tasmanian devil scatered all the tools.

Pulled the headlights off, to run a small bead of silicone around the outside of the lenses. After a rainy day Thursday, there was a little bit of water in the bottom of the passenger side.

SS mirrors have a body color matched painted cap, not the plain grey textured ones like the rest of us have. The clear lenses are a nice touch though, always love those.
I know...I was going to color match 'em but I wasn't a fan of paying $7 a can for duplicolor. Tried Plastidipping my old ones and white dip has a neon blue tinge to it...not a fan either.

Replaced rear springs with Moog today, no more sag and bounce. Also changed the oil on the Equinox and dropped it off at the dealer for the door hem recall repair.

Fiddled all day with my vanity mirror lights. I changed them with stock bulbs and nothing. I watched the May03LT video on youTube and taught me that fuse #40 in body fuse block controls the vanity lights. My fuse was good but that circuit only putting out 5.5 volts!

Anyone have a wiring diagram to share with me to track down this electrical deamon? I pulled down the corners of the headliner and could see they (vanity lights) were plugged in.

I'm in Nicaragua, Central America and no one knows squat about Trailblazers here. There may be five them (tops) running around town! I learn alot on youTube.

Wiring diagrams much appreciated!
Marvin

My truck had been in my barn for a few days and even though I had a battery maintainer on it, I got the dreaded arg..arg.. arg.
Jumped it and drove to the Interstate distributor just down the road. I got 4 years out of the $40 blem but this time I sprung for a "new" Megatron battery II ($100 incl.tax). The timing was right since our unusual balmy weather is supposed to dip down to single digits this weekend. :blinkhuh: Mike.

Checked the torque on my lug nuts. A couple of times last week after a cold start, noticed a brief wobble leaving my neighborhood in the morning. A number of the front left lugs weren't to spec. Not loose like they were trying to commit a jail break or anything, but enough to get a decent pull on the torque wrench to get them back to where they needed to be. The others were pretty close, so hopefully that solves that intermittent issue.

Here are some light output pic's. The passenger side has the amber lense removed. So far I'm good with the out come. Now I really want to get going on my retrofit.

65 degrees today, so I took both to the DIY car wash and hosed them off. Not a perfect job at all, but at least got most of the winter salt crud off of them. Hey, they are different colors after all!

I also topped off the oil on both (TB is evidently starting to use more, but 214k I guess I can't complain) and replaced the oil dipstick on the Silverado with the correct one. Thanks GM for shortening the dipstick tube length on the GMT900 by almost an inch, but still putting the old, longer GMT800 dipstick in some of them up through part of 2008. Brilliant.

Oh yeah, also had to fix the hood latch on the Trailblazer. It wouldn't latch when I put the hood back down. Thankfully nothing was broken, it was just seized up with dirt and road crap. Sprayed it out and it works normally again.

Beautiful day here as well. Gave the TB a good wash since it has been salt covered for a couple weeks now. Still needs a good hand wash though.

I have been having to add air to the driver's front tire every week for a month or so now. Took it to the tire shop to check for leaks. No holes or leaks at the valve, so they pulled the tire and resealed it to the rim. Hopefully that will take care of the slow air leak issue.

I could feel some play in the wheel bearing for the driver's side and not as much on the passenger side. Went ahead and replaced both front wheel hubs with NAPA brand. Like to see how long these SKF bearings will last. Now the ride if nice and quiet.

Drove it home, while shaking a finger at it and giving the cluster a stern look. Got the "low oil pressure -- stop engine" display on the DIC and light on the cluster when I pulled out of the parking lot. Engine was running fine. Since I was at a red light, shut it off, restarted, and all was fine. Hit up Walgreens, pulled into the parking lot, and it came back on. Put it in park, and it went back off. Picked up some stuff, headed home. Pulled up at another red light, and it came on again. Got home and checked oil just in case, still at proper level. To which I said...

"Quit :lipsrsealed: with me, I finished all those fun mods, enjoy them and be happy!" :hissyfit:
