I KNOW this is bullshit. I have wide Offroad tires for a damn good reason...they provide MORE traction.BlazingTrails said:You guys know that in off road and other loose traction scenarios wider tires actually have less traction....right?

you guys aren't lying there. I titled a 2015 Canyon Friday at the office and i couldnt believe the price tag! $42,000!! Silvy's can be had for $48,000. I would never pay over $40k for a midsized truck when the full sizes are less than $6k more.Darkrider_LS said:Heh...maybe when that happens I may be in a position to be able to buy your old one.
Wider tire, less psi, less traction.HARDTRAILZ said:I KNOW this is bullshit. I have wide Offroad tires for a damn good reason...they provide MORE traction.
This specific one I looked at had a tag of 41,898 Canadian. Ridiculous.Boricua SS said:you guys aren't lying there. Bigger footprint...tread wraps around the terrain. Simple fact.
My tires with air to make them wider?HARDTRAILZ said:What are you filling?
my main configuration when out off-roadCaptainKD said:Care to share pics of your setup?
Depends on the surface. Sand would be a pretty low traction, and you go as wide as possible. Snow and rain are low traction, but you get a tire that will cut through the surface to the asphalt below. Mud would be wide. I'm not an off roader other than sand but you usually see wider tires there as well.BlazingTrails said:You guys know that in off road and other loose traction scenarios wider tires actually have less traction....right?
Since you asked. Here's 18", 20", and 22". As mentioned, I don't know what will fit on the wheels, or what will clear.dmanns67 said:Nice. What about an 18" wheel?

Yes exactly. I actually bought the trailer hitch cover because my girlfriend and I are saving up for a project vehicle; and it's going to be an International Harvester Scout.IllogicTC said:If it ain't red it stays in the shed.
Nice to see some people know there's brands other than John Deere! Well, around here it seems all people know is JD anyway. It came on without warning, like those stupid stick figure family decals - suddenly everyone has John Deere belt buckles, sweatshirts, decals above windshields, and every other woman driving a Jeep has the "Go Play In The Dirt" decal on the back window. How very, utterly original. A lot of these people probably have never operated a Deere, and some haven't even seen one in person in any scenario besides a parade.
I myself can recall going to their works in the Quad Cities, I can't remember what they call the building but it has a nickname because of its color. My cousin's grandpa started young and went clear to retirement working at the John Deere Dubuque Works, so if HE wants to put John Deere crap everywhere (which he does, tons of Ertl models and whatnot) even without farming that's cool.
I myself... well, it's not IH direclty, but I've always enjoyed a McCormick Farmall. Speaking of course from personal experience.
Nice mod man, I've always had plans to mount LED strips under the hood for accent lighting. I'll get around to it soon enough.Blckshdw said:Sheesh Dave, you only use them for high beams, so it's not like they get constant usage for something to burn out so quickly. That's pretty crappy.
As for me, did my first version of LED underhood lighting. Gonna have to redo them, I already see that now...
Got some mercury free tilt switches from Ebay for a couple bucks, in the mail yesterday.
<snip>
Spliced that in to the relay lead going to the coil.
<snip>
Used one of the LED strips JimmyJam gave me, shortened it, and applied some 3M double sided tape for a good hold.
<snip>
Enlarged the mounting hole on the relay to the same size as the loom clip's pin, so I could affix it in place. Small piece of double sided tape to hold the tilt switch to the hood surface. Ran the ground connections to the factory hood ground. and ran my other wiring. One reason I'll need to redo it, I ran out of 18 gauge, except for black. Looks funny running a black wire to the + terminal of the battery
<snip>
After getting the strip in place, had a look. Not bad.
<snip>
Then had another look, Probably gonna have to pull that off, extend the wiring a bit, and try running it along the outer lip.
<snip>
I know right. I dont get it. The back of the headlight is open and the fan is still turning on the heat sink. I dont see how heat could be an issue. Plus at night it has been around 40°.Blckshdw said:Sheesh Dave, you only use them for high beams, so it's not like they get constant usage for something to burn out so quickly. That's pretty crappy.
