I KNOW this is bullshit. I have wide Offroad tires for a damn good reason...they provide MORE traction.

Went and checked out a 2015 canyon sle all terrain. Crew Cab v6. Lot better than I thought they'd be but I still don't like the price tag. When the 2016s come out I'll get one

Heh...maybe when that happens I may be in a position to be able to buy your old one.
you guys aren't lying there. I titled a 2015 Canyon Friday at the office and i couldnt believe the price tag! $42,000!! Silvy's can be had for $48,000. I would never pay over $40k for a midsized truck when the full sizes are less than $6k more.

Wider tire, less psi, less traction.

I still won't be running skinnies.

This specific one I looked at had a tag of 41,898 Canadian. Ridiculous.

Wider tire...less psi...MORE TRACTION.

Bigger footprint...tread wraps around the terrain. Simple fact.

The weird part is the new Colorado's are almost the same size as the Silverado but I would never pay that much for one its overpriced

Depends on the surface. Sand would be a pretty low traction, and you go as wide as possible. Snow and rain are low traction, but you get a tire that will cut through the surface to the asphalt below. Mud would be wide. I'm not an off roader other than sand but you usually see wider tires there as well.

Nice. What about an 18" wheel?
Since you asked. Here's 18", 20", and 22". As mentioned, I don't know what will fit on the wheels, or what will clear.

New power steering lines on the neighbor's TB that I take care of. The old ones were so rotted I could see the fluid through them!! WHAT A PAIN IN THE @$$!!! Thing fought me the entire time, but I conquered it finally with no leaks and no air. Drove it back, got paid, informed the neighbor their right front wheel bearing is shot, and called it a night.

Washed the envoy today, and the escalade, since they were jealous I washed the trailblazer Friday. And I did this: (also on Friday)

Changed my mirror turn signal bulb. I'm guessing the bulb in there was factory, all it said was "P 21X / 12V / W5W" and had "E11" in a square.

So I dug around my little bulb stash in the rear, turns out a 2825 appears to be the replacement. This also is rated for 5 watts (W5W). Same size, same pin arrangement. These same bulbs are used in the license plate lights, so a single two-pack can offer coverage for two areas.

The bulb itself was just fine, but the contacts were corroded and fell apart. So I guess this is a reminder, before it gets too cold, to check ALL lamps fully. Remove and check, and prep the winterize the socket with some dielectric if you need to.

I also have a pre-winter oil change planned (still have 40%+ left, but may as well do it while the weather isn't bad) and removal and full cleaning of the license lamp lenses. Got some dirt up in there.

If the bearing is clunking I would think that it must be howling going down the road.

New International Harvester Trailer Hitch cover.
If it ain't red it stays in the shed.

Nice to see some people know there's brands other than John Deere! Well, around here it seems all people know is JD anyway. It came on without warning, like those stupid stick figure family decals - suddenly everyone has John Deere belt buckles, sweatshirts, decals above windshields, and every other woman driving a Jeep has the "Go Play In The Dirt" decal on the back window. How very, utterly original. A lot of these people probably have never operated a Deere, and some haven't even seen one in person in any scenario besides a parade.

I myself can recall going to their works in the Quad Cities, I can't remember what they call the building but it has a nickname because of its color. My cousin's grandpa started young and went clear to retirement working at the John Deere Dubuque Works, so if HE wants to put John Deere crap everywhere (which he does, tons of Ertl models and whatnot) even without farming that's cool.

I myself... well, it's not IH direclty, but I've always enjoyed a McCormick Farmall. Speaking of course from personal experience.

Yes exactly. I actually bought the trailer hitch cover because my girlfriend and I are saving up for a project vehicle; and it's going to be an International Harvester Scout.

Sheesh Dave, you only use them for high beams, so it's not like they get constant usage for something to burn out so quickly. That's pretty crappy. :ugh:

As for me, did my first version of LED underhood lighting. Gonna have to redo them, I already see that now...

Got some mercury free tilt switches from Ebay for a couple bucks, in the mail yesterday.

20141115_122539_zpsa1z9t3cm.jpg

Spliced that in to the relay lead going to the coil.

20141115_122808_zpssbq707az.jpg

Used one of the LED strips JimmyJam gave me, shortened it, and applied some 3M double sided tape for a good hold.

20141115_135719_zpsrhdhpt6t.jpg

Enlarged the mounting hole on the relay to the same size as the loom clip's pin, so I could affix it in place. Small piece of double sided tape to hold the tilt switch to the hood surface. Ran the ground connections to the factory hood ground. and ran my other wiring. One reason I'll need to redo it, I ran out of 18 gauge, except for black. Looks funny running a black wire to the + terminal of the battery

20141115_150326_zpsz2cigl8e.jpg

After getting the strip in place, had a look. Not bad.

20141115_150339_zpswkngfsx6.jpg

Then had another look, :duh: :Banghead: Probably gonna have to pull that off, extend the wiring a bit, and try running it along the outer lip.

Nice mod man, I've always had plans to mount LED strips under the hood for accent lighting. I'll get around to it soon enough.

I know right. I dont get it. The back of the headlight is open and the fan is still turning on the heat sink. I dont see how heat could be an issue. Plus at night it has been around 40°.

Very nice mod. Love to see some night pics

I'm planning to head out to catch some UFC with Jimmy and Carlos tonight, so I'll get a night shot and see just how bad that lip of the hood liner is in the way for lighting up the engine bay.
