Has the paint faded? Always wondered if newer paints did like old ones.

Yeah those protect the paint I guess, but when you cover it all up, what's the point then lol.

Some of those can actually mar the clearcoating pretty badly, particularly when dirt gets underneath them.

I think you are only supposed to use those on long road trips? If you keep it on too long I fear it might actually damage the paint or cause it to mismatch from natural fading of the rest of the truck? Curious have you taken it off frequently and washed and polished the paint? How does the paint look now?

Umm, look on the bright side, you're getting lotsa practice for when mine blows up! :deal:

On a more serious note, any idea what the issue is? Or still hunting for it?

Pulled off rear wheels to try and pinpoint a creeking noise to find passenger side brake drag, need to do a service but not today as it is now pouring rain. Also found differential fluid seeping out both sides, rear axle seals need replacing, always something.

Installed my Belltech Suspension. Now at 32" in front, and 32.5" in the rear.

Will post pics tomorrow, or when I can find a brightly lit gas station.

I popped out the old switch in the dash, drilled a 1" hole with a 1/2" drill bit, then installed a new switch which mounts flush and looks nicer.

The switch makes absolutely no difference on the outside, but who doesn't take 50 picture of their truck when they do something to it?

Then, I finally got in my 16' "335" LED strip, so I got to installing that.
Here's some pictures of my lovely footwell/floor lights.

Before:

After (they're not purple IRL):

Front at night:

Rear at night (I stuck them on a little plastic strip up under the seat):

The front:

These things make a hella difference inside. I had to pick up a buddy last night who is a mod-bug type guy and he opened the door and was like "holy s$%!, those look awesome dude!".
Because of the way I hooked them up (powered off of a relay, relay triggered off of the dome lights) the floor lighting fades shortly before the dome lights do, so it looks absolutely sick.

Oops, looks like I snapped another one...

I'm still dreaming up places to put the other 12' of LEDs. I'd like to try puddle lights but I don't completely trust the 3M adhesive and there's no way to drill through these LEDs without shorting them.
Since they're side-emitting, I thought of maybe putting them on the underside of each door (the door swings open and lights the ground), but it seemed like too much drilling and fishing wire for it to be worth it.

How'd you get the letters on there? I was thinking I might do that. Paint the calipers white (or whatever color I want the letters to be) then after dry, use peel off letters, paint the calipers the color I want, and peel the letters. (I'm thinking yellow lettering with bright red calipers, letters just GM or GMC).

Did you do something different?

Anyone got a good way to paint the calipers without removing them?

Yesterday, watched it turn over to 125,000 miles. Not bad for a 12 year old truck.

Duplicolor brush on caliper paint kit. Plus you'll have tons left over. Was able to do mine, as well as another members calipers on all 4 corners, and I still have about 1/3 of the can left. Got mine from Summit, you can find em on Ebay as well.

The decals are courtesy of High Voltage. Thanks again Jeff.

Prep work is the key. Make sure the area where you put your decal is free of contaminants, ie: oil, dirt, grease, loose material. And clear coat, clear coat, clear coat. The clear coating helps with protecting it.
