my wife is gonna hate me when she gets off work. Lol. I put the cover inside where its cooler and not humid. Seems to be working.
Crack a window and turn on the ceiling fan before she gets home to blow out some of the fumes, and you'll be good.

Did some thirst quenching. The other day, I actually took the time to read my grocery receipt, and noticed near the bottom that my rewards card not only gave me some savings in the store, but also on gas at participating Shell stations, one of which happens to be right by my work. :undecided:

Resulted in this price for 87octane. Damn, I wish I woulda paid attention to that a long time ago, I've been giving away money!!!

Picked up a set of 4 matching wheels for the truck. Now I have 8 of the Toyota Enkei wheels. Going to sell 3 on ebay, and sell the Pirellis so I can get some man tires.

Carlton I took this for you, still had 1/4 tank left in the Avalanche when I filled up.

33. Filled it from empty once, pump shut off at $100 and I had to start a new transaction.

Crap! Where do you live and what's normal price? I'm paying about $1.80 per gallon more than that. Fucking California with its unique distillation process. Keeps gas prices outrageously high.

i made the last payment on my truck. It's all mine. Then i did some quick math i never should of done.

$7200 - 14 months to pay off
$3700 - Needed parts and repairs
$800 - Tires (Still mostly new and can't use)
$3200 - Mods i didn't need
$750 - Wheels (because of mods i didn't need lol)
So over $15k of $8k truck... Never do the math.

Ya know, I've asked before. What are payments?

Just kidding. Luckily had funds to pay cash. Why can't you use the wheels or tires?

i have stock rims with pretty new hankook tires, but being lifted they don't look right so I'm running bigger ones i got from Matt. Big size difference so won't be going back on

What about selling the tires? You'd take a loss, but at least they'd be gone and put some money back into your pocket. You probably won't get much for stock rims, and I'd keep them if you decide to sell the truck. Or put the tires and rims together up on Craigslist and eBay with local pickup only.

I think all of the shell stations I've gone to around here, shut off at $85, which was a pain in the ass when I was running 93, or the few times I ran it down near empty, for the same reason.

Normal price for 87 has been between $3.15 and $3.20 this week. I think I'm gonna start paying attention to the random stuff on the end caps for extra reward points. I haven't paid under $60 to fill my tank with under a quarter of a tank left in... well... ever!

It's a great feeling to be able to say it's yours, and not have to yank that payment out of your budget every month. And yeah, I try to not do the math on all the mods I've done over the years. No need to stress myself out.

Hey at least you didn't spend nearly 2x the value of the car in just repairs... I did that with my old one over the first two years I had it. Never had money to replace as I was still paying on the darn thing, but it only broke almost everything that could break.

Never buy a previously abused vehicle

Although that said, the transmission from that car is still kicking, in my current Camaro. And while that car cost me a lot of money, it has also long term saved me a lot I believe since it taught me how to work on my own vehicle and not take it to the shop for everything.

Silver lining to everything

New rear wiper! Took some love taps with a screwdriver and small hammer to pop the old one off.

uploadfromtaptalk1408803391874.jpg

Didn't replace the parking support for the arm. Will probably do that another day.

It does look a lot cleaner than the old bent arm one.

Last winter's salt really did a number on the hinge in the old one. I freed it up last spring but it's getting stiff again. Probably a good idea to replace it anyway.

Replaced my leaking transmission pan with a cast pan from summit. Also swapped out the wrong spring I had placed in the servo with the appropriate spring. Lastly, charged up the a.c. and topped off fluids.

There is a rattling coming from the bottom, sounds like the tc bolts aren't completely tight. Surprise surprise.

Other than that, she's shifting and driving properly. So I got that going for me, which is nice...

Replaced the thermostat. Surprise, it's not the original! I pulled a Motorad unit off. It wasn't stuck open, but something must have been happening in there. Now the needle settles in around where it needs to be, fluctuates down once (influx of coolant, perhaps?) goes back up and stays there. None of that wandering around stuff. Still needs more driving to see if the PCM has had its P0128 conditions satisfied or not before I confirm it fixed.

Interestingly, I read (on an old post) that Stant units were made in America. Not anymore, the shell at least was cast in China (it reads DFT China on the side). Also interestingly, the wax plug is rated at 183 fahrenheit, it's even listed as such, but it also identified as correct for the engine. That's a bit confusing.

Finally, the Motorad did not have a gasket around the valve while the Stant does, and the Motorad had a small hole in the valve, while the Stant has a hole just on the outside that includes a check ball. Interesting.
