The gmt360 thermostat is cake compared to my VW. The Passat's thermostat is behind the timing belt. The timing belt doesn't have timing marks, so you have to have a special tool to get your timing just perfect. Besides that, the front clip had to be removed.

This would be a cumulative post for me, but first I replaced the thermostat, only to determine that since it was such a pain in the ass that there was no way I was skipping out on replacing the temp sensor. Then I discovered that no auto parts store anywhere near me on the weekend carries the slotted 18 mm socket to replace the sensor. So I made my own (thank you dremel tool). Then I replaced the air filter and cleaned the throttle body, only to have it freak me out that something else was wrong when it decided it didn't want to relearn the clean throttle body in the speed that I wanted it to. Luckily, I prayed to the GMT gods, and they decided they had enough of toying with me.

The next fun was trying to diagnose and determine where a small trans leak was coming from. Loose pan bolts didn't help my cause but didn't fix it completely either. Eventually it was narrowed down to something well above my pay grade, so for now, the fix is a piece of cardboard on the garage floor. Its a small enough drip that doesn't even occur every day, so learning to live with it for the time being.

After that, I installed a trans cooler, and compared to everything else, that was fun. Dremel tool to the rescue again to make a bit more space and I was very happy with the fit and finish of it. Of course hooked up the tubing was another thing, but I guess its better to be tight than be loose. The upside? I know now how easy it is to remove the windshield fluid reservoir for when I need to access that side of the engine, lets hope I never do.

Diag'd my 2500. No spark. Further investigation lead to no output from coil. Coil was just replaced 7 years ago. Time to get in the zone since they were nice enough to put $20.00 back on my rewards card.

Installed some AVS ventshades on the Avalanche. Every vehicle should have these from the factory, and of course they are the in channel ones.

Did an oil change and topped off the transfer case again. Another bottle of Autotrak used. Leak has gotten a bit worse, time to check the case more often I guess.

Thanks man. Some call them nice, some call them complicated, I call them a learning experience. Next set will be better, and simpler, that's for sure!

Check out a set one of the alums on HID Planet posted today. EIGHT projectors on his front end. I had to ask him about it. The inside ones are aux low beams, the middle ones are regular low beams, outside ones are high beams, and the fog ones are down low.

HID Planet is a great resource for retrofit information and LED mods. I looked into the site for a while when looking into retros for the TB.

Eight projectors is ridiculous. What is the projector near the fender that is facing out? For the turn signals? Extra light while turning? Super brights at night :undecided:

I would like to see some output shots of that retro. I can only imagine the pain of trying to line everything up

I can see the pics drew your attention before you finished reading my post :raspberry:

Since that's a pic only thread, my post, and his response was deleted by a mod pretty quick. He mainly uses the middle ones for the low beams, adds the inside ones as aux low beams when he's driving in the mountains or out in the country. Outside ones are angled 40 degrees off center, and the bi-xenon bits removed so it's high beam only.

On the up close pics, you can see an acrylic rod with slots cut in the back, I assume that's his park/turn signal, with an LED in each end. I want to try that method for my LED eyebrows v3.0 :undecided:

I personally hate those things. There literally is not a situation where I would ever use those. I can tolerate a few raindrops into the cab if I need a breath of fresh air

Until one of those rain drops finds its way between the buttons of your DDM/PDM, down to the circuit board and renders said door module inoperable, and your window is stuck in an open position :banghead:

Did you have to cut it off? I now lube my new one every time I change the oil.

You sir are a demon.

In all honesty, I rarely use them as a means of fresh air when I am driving. Most common use for me is when in a parking lot I can leave the windows cracked without the worry of rain, and my truck wont be insanely hot when I open the doors.

Today I got everything to do a full detail on all 3 cars. Picked up some clay bar, cutting compound, polish, sealant, and some nice Carnauba wax. I could not afford to splurge on Chemical Guys or one of the better brands, but the Mcguires should make a world of difference. I also got an awesome deal on a 10" random orbital polisher, I ordered new bonnets for it. Figure this will get me by until I can afford a PC 7424.

I also drove the Trailblazer for the first time in 3 weeks. After driving the Avalanche with its nice smooth ride, the TB feels untamed, and angry. The new battery will no longer hold a charge for more than a few hours, I have been putting the charger on it for a few hours every few days to keep it maintained, but this battery sucks.

No, managed to avoid that, but I did have to flush the tube around the crank.

Freed up and lubed my liftgate latch again. The lock mechanism corroded and seized up so the glass was stuck locked and the liftgate unlocked. Now the glass works again and the liftgate locks.

How long it'll work I don't know since it is getting pretty crusty but it is for the time being.

What did I do to my GMT today? Well let me tell you.

My TrailBlazer generally gets a synthetic Mobil 1 oil change every 5,000 miles, and I spare no expense. I can't tell you why exactly, I'm not a religious man but I have faith in a vehicle like some people have a faith in God. I give it everything I can, talk to it when times get rough, and pray to it.

Lately I have been super busy; I have a new job working 100% on my feet about 40 hours a week, I still handle a few part time jobs for my dad, and I'm still taking classes to finish school. Now I'm sure some of you have more on your plate than me but I still have a hard time getting things done that are "for me". With all this going on I have neglected to change the oil in the Chevy for about 6,700 miles. It was about the same color as the exterior of the truck. Not to mention the engine has sounded like it had gravel rolling around in the cylinders lately, unsurprisingly.

I was going to have my dad's mechanic do it for me but when I asked my dad he made it out to be a bigger deal than it was (if you knew him like I do you would understand). This all happened at roughly 8:30 tonight. Out of spite I got in the truck, stopped by the ATM, and went to Advance to get some supplies. After an anger-fueled shopping spree, my grand total came out to $137 and some change. It was 9:00 by the time I started.

I put the front tires up on some 4×6 blocks and went to work. Still gritting my teeth I worked quickly and ended up putting the drain pan in the wrong spot under the pain in the ass filter, causing pitch black oil to stain the driveway. ****!

So I kept working... I put a quart of ooey-gooey Rislone in to try to quiet the lifters, filled it with oil, put a new serpentine belt on, and installed a new drain plug (previous owner jacked the old one up with channel locks or something). The thing sounds pretty damn good for 238,684 miles now.

The moral of the story? Don't let your emotions get the best of you. It isn't worth getting upset over the small things. It isn't a great idea to work on your truck mad, although it allowed me to work off some rage and humbled me.

As usual, pics or it didn't happen. And yes that is mom's Pier 1 rug i was laying on (our little secret).

Thanks for reading.

Ready to laugh harder? Imagine that pissed off guy with NO basket carrying the following...

2 5 quart Mobil 1 Oil jugs
A drain pan
A quart of Rislone
A can of Brake Clean
A filter
And a serpentine belt

I had items shoved in crevices I didn't even know I had...

I probably looked like something off the old Scooby Doo cartoons walking up to the counter. Groaning and cussing up a storm, oil bottles stacked 3 feet high in front of my face. "Look out gang, its the oil change monster!!!"

Lol. If you can't laugh at yourself...
