Took my Voy to Autozone to get the check engine light looked at and it looks like I need a new camshaft position sensor. At least it wasn't a major issue with it like the water pump again.

I also modded my projector headlights.
Look MA......no amber corners!!

:confused:Not sure if I should like this:raspberry:

Looks almost like you could change the projector out without too much trouble to a nicer one :undecided:

Decembersend had a set of those, after he swamped em with muddy water, I convinced him it was a good idea to do a quad retrofit, before I knew how much of a pain it was. What a good friend I am eh? :satan:

A quick note for anyone preparing to use GMPartsDirect to order parts for their vehicle:

I've just discovered that they store passwords as plaintext. I used a different password from my other things (standard security practice), but I mutated it even further to put as much space between it and my other passwords as possible.

If you have an account there, do NOT use the same password you use everywhere else. Don't even use a slight variation (let's say your GMail is Password73, and your GMPartsDirect is 73Password). Use something entirely different, but yet still difficult to guess or brute-force. In the world we live in where people are constantly trying to crack sites, it's worth being extra careful if you know that site doesn't follow standard procedure and instead insist on storing passwords plaintext.

I'm not saying don't use the site - I have, it saved me a bundle, and they don't store payment info as far as I can tell. I mean, if you're trying to be extra careful, or it violates your personal security scheme, then you'd be better off staying away. Just be careful, and remember use a VERY unique password. No matter how badly you need your truck fixed, it's not worth having your online security compromised

I think winter of 2014 killed my new bilstiens. It's so rough. Fucken NYC potholes -_-

Tell me about it, up here regularly on business. Saw the Belt parkway 2 lane shutdown last Thursday night and just missed the one last Friday night. Potholes were so bad it was easier to bring in the asphalt shaver and just take off the top and lay fresh.

Didn't do a damned thing but drive. Pot holes here in S.I.N.Y. are terrible. They spend a million years fixing the roads for what?
IllogicTC, thanks for the heads up.

Thats why I just buy parts from the Chevy dealership my father works at. I get his discount :raspberry:

It's like a dodge one huge one that could kill the struts and then I hit another one for the rear.

In chicago, I saw a pothole with a ladder sticking out of it...

I cleaned my throttle body last night. I drove off this morning, and was impressed with how smooth it was. I always forget what a difference it makes.

Texted my mechanic to see how my engine and transmission swap is going and that I have a boy scout camp out on the 7th and would like it by then. He says will be no problem. *crossing fingers*

I need to do that very soon

Everything sucks in the winter is the real issue here

Find a female and crawl under a blanket.

Replaced the fuel cap. I've had a P0442 code for a while now. We'll see if this fixes it.

My fuel filter and struts came in today. Just waiting on upper mounts and shocks now!

I solved my vehicle shortage today. I picked up a 2005 GMC Yukon Denali XL with 125k. It has the 5.3 / 3.42's / G80 / 4x4. The truck is a 1 owner from Marion OH, fully loaded with leather, heated seats, power everything, sun roof, dvd player. The first order of business will be all fluids and plugs. Anyone have experience with the 800 platform to tell me what else to look at?

Pictures will be coming tomorrow when I pick it up. They got it into the garage before I got out of the office so I wasn't able to get any today.

On a side note, I think I can now officially call myself a hillbilly! I have a parts truck on the side of the garage, The Envoy with a blown tranny, the Bravada with a blown engine, Tracey's van, and the Yukon in the driveway, my work Trailblazer on the street, and my 66 Bronco in the garage. There is also a 6x10 trailer in the back yard next to my shed. Add on to all of that, my parents live next door and they have 5 cars in the driveway and a 27" sail boat in the back yard. I am sure our neighbors love us! Thank god for the lack of a HOA. :finger:

:undecided: Bravada tranny into the Envoy? :lightbulb:

Nope, rebuilding the Envoy tranny again, this time I am planning on being able to control the heat that the high stall torque converter is putting out.

Truck has thrown a code. Now I have to get my code reader back from a guy who I loaned it to that has not returned it. :hissyfit::hissyfit:

Always sucks. That is why I have 2 or 3 of the cheap ebay readers floating around and the Scangauge that I do not loan out.

Good Luck and hope the code is simple fix

Got a Bluetooth OBD2 adapter and the torque pro app.

Was playing with it yesterday, lots of nice features.

I am planning on buying an OBD2 plug extension (5 feet) and running it somewhere. That way I can unplug the adapter when I turn the car off.

If its plugged in and the car is off, the adapter is still on, don't want to drain the battery.

You don't have to worry about that. I've left my OBDII adapter (among other accessories) plugged in for the last few years, and never had a battery problem due to leaving them plugged in while the truck is off.

I leave the Scangauge plugged in truck all the time and the Bluetooth one in the Impala plugged in all the time and no drain on the batteries.

To add to that, there is an option in the torque pro app in settings that allows you to let the OBDII adapter to go into sleep mode after 600 seconds of inactivity.
I have had mine plugged in since the day I bought it over a year ago.

First post here. i just want to say thanks to all the great info that this site provides helps me save time and money:wootwoot:. I know mechanics need to make a living but dam calling around to get my front/rear diff lube and transfer case done would be like $415.00. And that is when i put my mechanic hat on and did it my self. I did the engine/front diff/transfer case ran out of time to do the rear diff. Everthing whnt smoot except for the front diff filler plug, i had to pull out the 5' ft steel pipe and breaker bar and came out with no effort. Once again thanks for ll the great info:thumbsup: saturday ill be doing the tranny

Got the moisture problem that ate my LEDs in the license plate lamps fixed (I hope). New seals on the lenses and new LEDs in the lamps, we'll see how long this lasts. Thinking about maybe a little debadging later if I get time after rotating the tires, been putting it off for way too long now.

You run less than that on the street?

Nope. When I was at my mechanic 2 weeks ago I know he filled them up according to the sticker. But I was having a horrible ride through the last couple weeks and checked them yesterday

A couple weeks ago over here it was nice out. Like strangely nice. Now it's super-cold again. I'm speaking for the mid-atlantic area, but if you're experiencing the same weather it can affect your pressure.

Rough ride is not usually low pressure. Handling will be off and it can feel squirrely but the ride is softer.

Definitely can make a big difference.

Would certain tread patterns perhaps give it a "rough" feel? Not necessarily actually rough. Maybe just a noticeable, small vibration or something.

Finished the debadging - FINALLY! :wootwoot:

I think the fine folks at GM wanted you to KNOW it's an Envoy - those ugly badges are roughly 1 3/4" x 11" :puke:

Tailgate looks nice and clean now (even though the entire truck is filthy, I just cleaned the spots where I was taking the badges off  )

View attachment 32917

Lastly, the doors. I don't particularly like the moldings, but they are a must have item for me so my doors can stay protected from idiots who don't know how to park. At least they look less "stuck on" with the badging gone.

Only badging left on the vehicle is the grille logo, which isn't going anywhere - I like my nice shiny red GMC grille emblem.

Because getting your money isn't enough, they need to advertise so people who like what they see know right where to go and what to get :rotfl:
