Slowly filling up! :wootwoot::wootwoot::wootwoot::wootwoot: feels good to be able to SEE the savings...full-time student and working 40+ a week, gym 5-6 days a week, and the dojo keeps me insanely busy...BUT I WILL have them! :satan:

that damn Carlton and his mod bug feeding frenzy :raspberry:

I've had my headlights cracked open for a few days now, and I just went to Home Depot today and purchased my heat gun ($22 Wagner with 750* and 1000* settings) and my florescent light lens cover, and clamps to complete my headlight clear corners mod ... I'll probably attempt my first set of clears on Thursday when I'm off...

Now just to figure out a fix for my passenger side door panel. The tabs aren't holding it on anymore, it just falls right back off when I open it. Tried some 3M tape, but there's only so many spots to put it, the plastic doesn't really touch all that much of the door. Putting epoxy on the tabs should work, but I don't want to have to break them off if I ever need to pull the panel again.

Why are you using 0W-40 instead of the 5W-30 it calls for? That may be part of the reason why you're using so much. Although, one cause might be the DoD.

Because it consumed just as much 5W-30. I ran 5W-30 for over 30K miles, lots of Valvoline MaxLife but also some NAPA Conventional, M1, bulk quick lube oil, etc. I also believe I have fuel dilution issues due to the constant short trips and idling the vehicle sees. The higher viscosity may help combat that.

No DoD/AFM on the 2004 V8s.

It's not dripping/leaking anywhere I can see, nor do I have any smoke issues. Coolant looks clean too.

The M1 0W-40 has helped a bit with the piston slap and quieted (what I presume was) a noisy lifter.

Bro, why you gotta do me like that?

I drove to work to do a 12-hour shift since I was one of the only ones to show up yesterday (11 hour shift). On the bright side, 2 days in and have half my week's hours in the middle of layoff season.

She's getting a new battery at some point, mine is finally tiring out with all this stupidly cold weather, and you know kinda being over 9 years old :rotfl: Yesterday I drove up that steep incline on Route 16 (and the two other big inclines) in 2WD with that snow storm. Wasn't bad man, TBs are underrated you just gotta know how to handle a lady is all

Just one of the (VERY few) benefits of living in Morgantown.

I've found that our trucks handle really well in the snow even in 2 wheel drive. The weight distribution must be just right, cause it will do things Mom's 98 and 01 S10 blazers would never do in the snow. (They royally sucked) A light foot on the throttle and some finesse on the wheel are all that is needed for most situations in the snow around here. When that fails, 4 wheel drive makes you nearly unstoppable, with the right use of driving skills.

3.73 axle (middle road, not too torquey, but not the easiest to bog down), very careful throttling, CONSISTENT throttling (don't let up or push down unless you HAVE to), M+S road tires (nothing fancy, Goodyear Fortera) and 2nd gear. I made it like a boss. Which is funny because not even my bosses did :rotfl: (one showed up at 11, was in a ditch for a while). The only bad part was where I guess the plows gave up and made just 1.25-1.5 lanes worth of clearing on a 2-lane road, and even then held the blade about 3 inches from bottom. Which was most of the way.

Is your door panel leaving the white tabs behind, or are the white tabs popping out of the door itself? May be time to replace all the tabs. Are you missing the 2 bolts that attach to the door through the pull handle? If those are in place, the door panel shouldn't come off at all during normal usage...

One of the white tabs is broken, the rest are pulling out of the door. Took a look at the bolt earlier (only saw one, I'll look again this afternoon), and the plastic part that goes in between the bolt and the door is broken, so it just slides under the bolt. Looks like I'll be grabbing some new tabs, not sure what to do about the broken plastic bit though.

You should have 2 bolts in the door handle, one that's easy to see, towards the front of the handle, and then one in the back corner of the handle. Is the lip of the door panel that sits in the channel by the window weather stripping seated properly? If it's not, that could be adding some pressure to pop the clips loose. As for the plastic bit that's broken, does it look like the ones Hockeyman is selling replacements for? :undecided:

That looks like them, thanks! I'll order up a set of those. The lip doesn't want to stay put at all, which is what's popping the rest of the panel off. That's where I tried to put the 3M tape, but that only worked for like a day. Once I get home I'll play around with it a little more, and see why it doesn't want to stay. PM'ing Hockeyman now, thanks for finding that!

NP, I remember when he first posted those. That's when I learned that not all GMT360 door panels were the same

I know with all the mods I've done that required me taking the door panels off, there were a few times I didn't hang the panel over that lip properly and it caused issues. Had to make sure I brought it in high and engaged that lip first before snapping in the perimeter. Hopefully that's all you're dealing with on yours.

Dammit, that's probably part of it, I keep going for the tabs first. Whoops! Well then the good news is most of the tabs should be alright, just need to hang it right and replace the bracket

It was a good feeling re-installing the efan wiring, the halo headlights, the control panel, the gauge cluster, the fuel pressure regulator, the 80lb injectors and the fuel rail back on this beast today.

It was strange/sad opening the hood on the envoy for the first time since last October...when I took the turbo out and dismantled what ever I could sell in a desperate act of despair when a lot of parts had failed and just couldnt handle the power vested upon it by the turbo gods :hail: This year is a new story though. It will be back to non-turbo, but my girlfriend has been begging me for a project and she didnt want to see this go either. Sooooo...it is now our project and she wants to do the welding, work, etc I just have to show her how for some of it.

After an inspirational trip to the Cleveland car show yesterday we came up with the mod list for this spring/summer:
- re-weld the exhaust so it is a wide open 3" from manifold back exhaust...dumping before the rear tire out the passenger side
- new suspension and lower it a bit!
- keep the 4" intake and MAF conversion with the 80lb injectors and p12 PCM swap all working happily together :grouphug:
- de-mold, hook Nitrous back up, etc...

and we agreed to split costs  however, Little does she know I will be secretly saving money over the duration of the summer...I have a ring to buy for next spring

Awesome bro! Congrats! Hell, any gf that's that into working on your truck with you, I can't say I blame you a bit  :rotfl:

In other news, I ordered my first rim tonight. Caught a deal online doing free shipping, so I didn't get raped with seperate shipping costs. I can get one every paycheck, and not dig in to the savings for something that "comes up"

Hopefully nothing off the wall happens where the rims become no longer available and you're stuck with 3 rims sitting in the corner. Now THAT would suck!! :explode:

I'm having issues with my door panels also.
To start, a few of the white pop clips on my doors have worn out from being removed four or five times, I lost two of the bolts that hold the door panel, and the plastic liner that goes around the door handle is missing a few tabs.
All of that combines to make the doors feel like they're falling apart.

Does anyone know what size/type of bolts I need? I feel like just having all of the bolts in would help a lot.

you would go there...lmao what a dick :poke:
and there a plenty of online spots that have them (as of today at least) so hopefully I won't run into that problem *fingers crossed*

I'll pray to the truck gods that it doesn't happen anyways

For the past few days I've been working on redoing my taillights. I've got the lights rewired and now I'm in the process of painting them. I've sprayed 2 coats of the red. Will wait to fully dry, then sand. Maybe one more red coat. But then I'll do 4 coats of clear coat.

Part of them were not red, these are Ascender taillights. I'm just painting them so they're completely red.
Here's a pic of them before.

Ahhh, my mistake.

so, what are you going to do about reverse lights? Just run the ones in the bumpers by themselves?

I've been running the reverse lights just in the bumpers. I had the taillights always setup for the break/turn/park. The setup I did before was rather complicated and had more failure points. My new setup is very simple and I like it much better. My setup before is documented on a quad taillights thread over on Trailvoy. I'm going to make a thread here when I'm done with the lights for all 3 of the custom setups I've had.

nice, I migrated over this way 2+ years ago, after a brief but interesting stay at the OS...can't say I came across your thread.
I will run over and take a look though
since you've done it a few times from the sound of it, any secret compound you're using for your cut and buff? just rubbing compound? or?

drove it all day

1st to pickup up something from a local auction
2nd coffee
3rd bank
4th to pickup some bridgestone blizzaks 245/75/16, practically new for $300
5th drove home to drop off the tires
6th bank
7th to pickup a practically new Ariens snowblower for $400
8th drove home to drop it off, was scared to go back onto highway, so I took regular streets, took long to get home.

Driving all day is tiring, drving with the rear hatch open and snowblower hanging out was a little nerve racking even though it was tied down. Driving with a bad hub assembly made me nervous. I could hear it growling.

Suppose to change the hub tomorrow but might put it off till Monday. Tired.

had 1/4 gas yesterday, filled up yesterday, 1/4 right now

I have been trying to get my Audio Setup in the Bravada done for some time... Most of the problem has been me being lazy...:frown: But my Mother had Me replace everything but the Bose speakers in her truck. I got bit by the bug again doing hers so its time to finally finish mine.

Got these a couple of weeks ago.

Dayton Audio RS180-4 7" Midrange/Midbass
Vifa NE25VTS-04 1" Silk Dome Tweeter

They will be ran active off of my Alpine CDA-9835 and powered (for now) by a Hifonics HFi 55.4.

Pretty sure they are M6 x 1.0 pitch. You can take one out of the other door and match it up in a hardware store.

Replaced the fuel filter, changed the transfer case fluid, and changed the front right sway bar end link. The Moogs don't seem to hold out well.

I found out that my 4WD isn't working. Meh...another project.
