I got aftermarket for my retrofit so I could actually open them without opening myself. Although I still managed to do that anyway

jrSS said:Sounds kinky...can u elaborate?
Sparky said:I was trimming the bezel to get the high beam projector shroud to fit right. I was tired (mistake 1), cutting towards myself (mistake 2), and trimming too quickly (mistake 3). Blade slipped and buried in the side of my thumb just in front of the knuckle, deep enough to hit the tendon there. Even after it healed over it took several weeks for the random pain tingles and/or numbness to stop. I have a 1/2" long scar there now, though thanks to it being a sharp blade it isn't too visible.
I was told I should have gotten stitches but the heck with that. I would have had to drive somewhere at midnight, waited, paid money, and then probably ended up with a worse scar than just taping it together and letting it heal by itself. My way was free

Blckshdw said:Hmm, yeah, I don't have that much...
I will try the bake method on my next retro, since I'll have aftermarket lights. I think my patience limit may be 2 or 3 times in the oven, but if they don't come apart after that, out comes the Dremel!!!

Hatchet said:Did that with a box cutter and my left index finger tip. Cut it from one side to the other down to the bone. (on a side note, don't believe your biology teachers or biology books. The bones are not as white as you have seen them.) It was brand new box cutter so it was a super clean cut, didn't even bleed right away. But I cleaned it, took medical tapes and taped the 2 pieces of finger together. Wrapped it up and went back to work. Not even a mark there. If I didn't remember where it happened, I would never be able to tell.
Boricua SS said:My thoughts exactly. I had them in the oven for over an hour (3 seperate times for 20 min and the initial bake for 30 min) on 230* and they still didnt budge. F that! so now its dremel time. Did you run into any snags Carlton when you had to break open where the crossbar goes? Thats a tiiiiiny spot to try and get a dremel in
Boricua SS said:well, I tried to tackle cracking open my headlights. Tried being the key word there Did the baking method, no bueno. Then tried using a dremel and again, no bueno ah well, I gave it a valiant effort. cutting open headlights is not for me

SBUBandit said:You aren't the only one. I have a spare headlight in my shed I've tried hacking into with a dremel. Didn't go well
Blckshdw said:How far did you get with the Dremel? You know I'm not gonna let you give up that quickly!!
fr34kout said:When I cut my headlights open, it only took about 10 minutes per side. Granted I trashed the first light I tried by cutting too far, but once I figured out where the cuts needed to go (only in the thin black plastic) it went super smooth the next few times.

It wasn't leaking down very fast at all, so I got her aired up good and headed home (20 miles). Made it home and got the wheel and tire pulled off and put in the back of my old S10. Looks like a run to town to get the tire fixed in the morning.

Told a couple guys at work about it and one called his wife immediately to see if he could buy it. As much as I would hate to let it go it would be well taken care of by either party.
