tried to get my truck to start. But no dice.

Mine would not start either. my own fault. drove 4 hours to Clarks Summit, PA, and in the morning lights, click, but no start. I had left a 12 volt to double USB charger, and my new SnanGauge II plugged in. was a bit surprised, since I put a new interstate megatron plus battery in a few months ago.

tried a jump from a subaru, ended up calling a truck, who put a real jump on it for a couple minutes. at first no joy, then fired right up.

the scan gauge read like 11.6 volts before the jump. once the engine started, went close to 15 volts, then down to 14.6 by the time I got to the ski resort. today on the drive home leveled off running at 14.2 or 14.3.

Have to check the draw on that USB charger. the fact it was below 0 probably did not help.

The scan gauge was nice on the drive. had it set to show MPH, Volts, intake air temp, and coolant temp.

I got that the other day when it was 10 below. I shut the truck off and restarted and it hasn't come back since.

Other than that I drove to work, which would normally seem boring, but today there were snow drifts halfway up the doors and I went through one that went over the hood. The new Discoverer AT3s did very nicely. I took the back way thinking it wouldn't be too bad and I wanted to see how the tires performed. As soon as I started down the back road, I'm fairly certain I heard the guy from Indiana Jones say "You chose ... poorly"

Drove it today. I was wondering if it would start, but it did. It was definitely not happy about it and I really thought it wasn't going to start this evening. Crank...crannnk...crrrannnnkkk....crrrannnnnnnnkkkk.... VROOOM <phew>

I think the angriest part of the vehicle on that cold start was my power steering pump. I never did replace it this past summer :lipsrsealed: And it sounded like I was torturing a thousand cows nonstop for several minutes tonight. But it kept working.

Leaving work last night it was -10 and the truck was not happy at all! All sorts of noises, power steering was heavy and the alt gauge was up near 18v...definitely booger freezing weather.

Had to go to work with -6 temp and -33 windchill, so I only trusted the truck for the 65 mile trip in this morning. She fired up and after 2 or so hours got me here safely. Interstate was slick enough that at 25 mph I got passed by a semi and it turned me sideways, but steered into it and stayed safe. Whole city if Indianapolis has couple inches of packed chunky ice/snow on the roads and feels like an offroad trail.

I put my faith in the rig and it did not let me down.

Welp, this came in the mail today:

And now it looks like this:

BTW, if anyone is interested in any of the other parts off of the Saab cluster, let me know. It's just gonna sit in the closet otherwise.

Hesitated a second on startup today then gave me the stabilitrak warning after a couple hundred yards. Extremely cold today. Just started it up again no problem no warning lights. What's going on?

It's a pretty common issue apparently with envoys and trailblazers. It's usually the steering wheel position sensor. Correct me if I'm wrong anyone lol

search stabilitrac or service stabiltrac. it is a common problem. have had my steering wheel position sensor replaced
twice now in the last 4 years. (under warranty) i believe your service place or person needs an ABS code reader to find the codes it throws.
if this is the first time it has come on, i wouldn't worry about it. if it becomes a reg. problem then have it checked out.
if it comes on again, just shut it off and the warning lite goes away. :twocents:

Installed some mirrors w/ turn signals. I can't wait to get some LEDs in there to match the rest!

Contact TXBlazer, he is a member here and makes custom LED mirror inserts. I believe he has amber, white, and red LED inserts. They are way better and brighter than a single LED bulb and look awesome installed. I have a set of amber installed. They are plug and play as well. Below is the link to his thread.

I contacted him and he said he'd mock up one so I could see it but haven't heard from him in a while.

Already done, he's been working on a set for me for the past week.
(Let's be honest, his LED inserts are the only reason I wanted to get new mirrors).

I'm running my stock headlights too, while I wait for a replacement high beam solenoid to arrive from TRS. I hate halogens more than HIDs :banghead:

That sucks though, how old is your HID kit?

Yeah, I would be pissed too. I would occasionally get a non fire from one ballast, but for the most part mine worked well for the 4 years I had the VVMEs. Hoping these Morimotos have a good long life too, at least until I decide to sell them and get something else.
