Why the two different types of oil?

Only 3000k? That oil has barely been in there yet and plenty of life left. No point.

I change it every 3000K with synthetic cause i do all city driving and its normally pretty black at 3000

Wow we just bought 3 5 quart jugs for 25 a piece. Normal price at Walmart. Just another thing that is expensive in Canada eh?

Everything in toronto is expensive lol
No offence to americans but going down to the states is like visiting a bargain shop or something lol
Chicken nuggets at mcdonalds is $10 for a 20 piece (no combo). I Just got a bigmac combo this morning for $8.35

Last time i drove down to Ft. Lauderdale florida i think nuggets were $9.99 for 50!
And in buffalo they had spicy mcchickens!
Canada sucks lol price of free health care i guess :raspberry:

I go at most 5k miles on my changes. Even though the oil life is longer, the oil still gets dirty at the same rate.

This is my 3rd fill up since I put the stock air filter and resonator box back on. I have gained 2MPG.

I wish I could attribute it to other things... but it's even been in the 100's, running A/C, same driving habits and driving routine.

So, just my dos centavos, but I would say think twice before putting an after marketing air filter/intake system on for the reason of just-because.

Cheers!

Color has nothing to do with how bad the oil is. You should consider getting it analyzed for viscosity and contaminants. It may save you money in the future.

No offense but man you're flushing money down the toilet. The oil will darken quickly but that doesn't mean it is used up. Even the outdated 3000 mile rule is nearly 2x the length you're doing as 3000km is only 1864 miles. How often do you change it, every month? I would be at that rate and I'd be broke.

If you're concerned about the color send it in at 3000km and get it tested. I'd wager they'd be telling you to run it for like 3x that length at the very least

Oh by the way... What air filter do you use again? If you're using K&N, stop. That's probably contributing to the grungy oil look as they do not filter very well and that gunk gets into stuff. Either stock paper or one of those green filters like Hardtrailz uses.

New rear axle seals and brake backing plates installed. Oh and new synthetic diff fluid. Also, not a single trace of metal shavings on the diff cover magnet

Yeah that would probably do the trick, I bought everything suggested over on ls1tech for cylinder head cleaning but I would rather pay some one with the tools I don't have so I'm not pulling these off when the head gasket starts leaking. I'm off Tuesday so I'm going to call around tomorrow to some shops for services/pricing.

Yea gets pretty bad if you dont consistently clean and undercoat every year lol
My dad bought a little box that you power with your battery and stick on to the frame of your car and it sends electric current through everything to prevent rust from sticking

Doesnt the salt from the ocean really destroy cars too? I guess only if you're right along the coast

Oh yea I've seen those electric pulse things before. And yea the salt water can do some damage for people that go to the beach a lot, but I barely go lol. I'm a few miles inland so I don't gotta worry about it too much lol.

I took Sunday and made it engine dress up day. I have a polo green GMC Envoy, so I wanted a lime green engine. Here's what I ended up with, and I know I should have painted the fan guard. But i refuse to disasemble that thing if it's not broken. Too much work, when it goes out I'll pull it, repair it...and paint it.

I went and picked up a different set of wheels, I like these as they look aftermarket. I also added some GMT love to the liftgate window.

Anytime I go on the beach with the truck I will just run through an automatic car wash to get the salt off. If I stay in a beach town but stay off the beach, then I will run through when I get a few miles on my way back home. After my old S-15 started falling apart a $10 car wash is cheap insurance to keep salt off the under side and frame.

Thanks, I got the set for $50. Just need to grind down the studs so the adapters will work and get these bad boys on.

A 2007 9-7x in really good condition cosmetically for $2500... Thats something you dont let pass through your fingers, especially if you were looking for one in the first place :raspberry:
Now we'll see how much it'll actually cost to rebuild. (hopefully not too much so i have enough to cam it and put vette servos in) if its too much now i'll have enough when i get it running and sell the voy
BIG PLANS FOR THIS ONE!
Lmao! Already started photoshopping ideas:rotfl:

I am ready to see the transformation of this ride in a thread. Until then, where's Cone been? Jokes about a tranny rebuild and no vids or pics to sneak off to the big boys room to in some time.:rotfl:

First mod will probably have to do with engine and its rebuild lol (if the rebuild doesnt cost too much i'll drop $1000 on a cam swap)
But the SS wheels are a must
