Dropped the driveshaft off to get 1 5/8" lopped off to fit in front of the SS axle. :wootwoot:

when you pull your washertank the rear becomes completely useless. if i knew a way to make it look clean i would:rotfl:

I'm gonna try it sometime soon, and just use some black plugs from my friend at a body shop. hopefully they blend in pretty well.

I actually use my rear wiper, especially in the winter when it's got a bunch of buildup and crap from the salt and sand trucks, so I wouldn't consider it. I tote to many kids in my truck to take the risk.

ahhhh, now see in your case, I totally understand. I on the other hand, have owned plenty of cars that came with them, and never used them once.

Bought a bunch of lights.

Added the chin spoiler and moved hide-a-plate into lower valance, added ghost lights, and side firing SMDs to the headlights.

I can't count how many times I measured but hopefully 1 5/8" is correct. Someone posted on another site that you needed to shorten it two inches but I think that's too much.

I measured from in front of the axle tube to the cradle of the yoke. Axle tube on the 8 inch and the 9.5 Are the same diameter so center placement would be the same.

I did 1.5 inches I believe. Have had no issues.

Given my work schedule I picked up the shaft long after the shop closed, there is a designated area to pick up merchandise and is somewhat secluded which is nice.

I checked it out before I left and I was concerned about the re-weld. Not much I can do until Monday but the axle is going in tomorrow and I'm confident there won't be any issues. This is a shop that does hundreds if not thousands of driveshafts a year whether it's just building, welding, u-joint change...whatever.

Granted I'm not a welder, but the few times I have used them....the beads have been somewhat neat, not concourse quality but decent. My gut tells me to raise an eyebrow but again....this is not my area of expertise.

I need some opinions from others that have welded for awhile, what is your opinion of this re-weld? Almost reminds me of a cold solder joint.

That looks like the shittiest weld I've ever seen. I've seen some aluminum welding and have done my own arc welding and I can tell that there was no penetration, not enough heat. I'd be very concerned. Compare it to the weld at the other end. Maybe they're just not used to aluminum?

Maybe put this in a separate thread with a proper title to get more input.

I've welded 3 times in my life and I am not good by any means but my welds look better than that. I would take that sucker back asap. By the looks of it it screams for trouble!

I wouldn't even install it. I have very little welding experience, but that weld doesn't look stong. Looks like they didn't get it hot enough.

Well it was yesturday but we did spark plugs, and both differentials. We still have to put the new sway bar end links on, change the transfer case fluid(mats tools are at work) and put the new cpas in. The brakes were only half worn so plenty of life left on them but we need to grease them to see if it helps with the noise.

Checked m engine oil and discovered I was down almost 2 quarts. :(

Vehicle has ~76k miles on it. I have put on about 3,000 miles since my last oil change. Oil is Valvoline MaxLife 5W-30.

Is that a tbss rear end? Nice! I've been wanting to do the swap for a while now but shipping to hawaii is going to kill me lol

Well, at least it's installed and I can look at it.:frown:

Damn man I'm sorry to hear that. I hope the guy makes good and gets you a new axle. Adding onto the way they welded the driveshaft, it seems like you're running to numerous issues through no fault of your own :(

Actually the driveshaft was a local shop, I drove 3 hours each way to get the axle.

The axle housing is fine, differential seems good, just the axle shafts which is likely the reason it ended up in the bone yard.

I spoke with someone today about the driveshaft and he assured me the weld was good. Ugly on top but the joint flowed well but the top cooled quickly and gave it the appearence it has.

GMCMAN hope for you that the weld is good. You will know real soon though when you use the go peddle if it is strong enough.

Changed the fuel filter and "changed" the transfer case fluid. Or should I say, filled the empty transfer case :( Sprung a leak at some point, I think from the tail shaft seal. Looks like I need a new one :frown:

Hoping to get the new cpas on today. We will see I guess. Its going to rain and I have to go grocery shopping

Retired my failing LED tailgate bar, and replaced my bent and damaged bumper step pads.

Took my roof rack off! Started the process of cleaning my Swedish Trailblazer up. Next is the running boards, then on to de-badging and much more mods on the way.

looks to me like they fogot to turn the gas on.. it's a bad weld for sure.. take it back and make them redo it.. not sure what you paid but pretty sure i know what it will cost to replace all of your under carraige when it comes apart.

I gotta say it was a good day. Finally had the time (and weather) to change the oil in the pickup. Did that and also replaced the inner and outer drivers door handles.

Funny, I was just at Ikea, and didn't see one of these. Looks good

Ghetto rigged my seat adjustment switch plate back together with epoxy glue. It's been broken since we bought it.

Yesterday I filled it up with premium n bought the stuff to change oil. Gonna grad some fluid for diff service and hopefully exchange the fluids later this week.

A guy in a Town and Country did a little paint mod to my bumper/fender

Washed the truck and cleaned the crap out of the interior. Finally have a place to store my tools and everything, so I no longer have to use it as a storage area. First time I have had a chance to really clean it been a busy year.

Looks awesome are you looking to sell the roof rails and/or running boards?

Wash, vacuum, and a little wax. (ok, I got half the hood and front passenger fender and front pass door) I did get a coat of wax on my 09 Jetta. that is a first.

used some Collinite i picked up when I lived in Rome NY, which I left in 2001. probably 15 years old. Great stuff. makes it impossible to sit on the hood, not that that is ever a good idea.

Insulator Wax » Collinite

also put a nice coating of silicone on all the rubber gaskets i could find around the passenger compartment. nothing in the hood area where it could get sucked down the air intake.

real purpose for the wax is to see if i can keep the doors from freezing closed this winter.

Rented the axle puller kit from Advance and removed the rear bearings and seals. Autozone should have my bearings in by 11 AM, chose them because they are Timken.

Thats the same wax that I use. Only wax once a year and water still beads off the cars before a re-wax. Sister's Neon actually went 2 years between waxes (and probably washes knowing her...) and water was still beading.
