Bought a new set of winter socks, nothing special just the crappy tire heavy lug winters. Still ran me $800. Gonna wait another month to install.

installed pulley on belt tensioner.

15mm socket for the tensioner, 13mm for the pulley. did not have a 3/8 breaker bar, so used my half inch ratchet with a 1/2 to 3/8 adapter to take the belt off the idler pulley to make belt loose.

had to put back on by feel, not a clear line of site for the mounting location, pretty easy.

torqued the tensioner mount 37 ft-Lb. guessed at the 13 mm head pulley mounting bolt, but used a dab of blue threadlock there was some on from initial assembly nine and a half years ago.

all is quiet on the belt now.

Glad you got yours fixed. I've had belt squeals forever and they always come back when it's cold and wet out. 54000km changed lower belt and tensioner, 110000km changed both belts, 124000 changed big belt. Now at 148000km colder and wet and the squeel is back. Nothing worse than your truck warming up at 530am with a squeeling belt. I've thought about a belt lube or something like that but I think someone said it wasn't a good idea? All the previous repairs were warranty this time I have to figure out myself which is squeeling.

Denali change the idler pulley, I was having the same problem around 40-50k miles. Changed the belt to a gator back and still had the noises, once I changed the idler the squeals went away

Thanks for the tip, I'll pick one up and change it. I guess when it's under warranty the dealer prefers to keep thowing parts at it, ac belt, serp belt, both belts. So including the original belts I have now had 3 sets of belts(ac&serp) on the truck to chase a squeel that keeps coming back. I'll bet your right on the tensioner cuz thats a lot of belts so far, approx 50,000km per set. I can't see belts wearing out so quick? Thanks again...

STL looks great, for reference the washer tank I got from PCMForless looks almost exactly like this one

JEGS Performance Products 511012 JEGS Lightweight Overflow Catch Cans

however one side has the fitting, and the top has a screw. Something like that would work perfect and you can mount it right behind the headlight with some zip ties. Loving those red calipers and brakemotive rotors too

Denali no problem, hope that solves your problem. Sure did for me lol

the I6 only has one belt, and one tensioner. my belt was not squealing, but there was pretty evident bearing noise, which was coming from the tensioner pulley.

The service manual has a pretty detailed discussion of belts and how to diagnose.

You have two tensioners, and an idler pulley. as well as everything driven by the belts. any one of these could have a bearing acting up, or be not quite right.

Service manual says that Belts do not cause the squeal, and replacing a belt that is not worn will not eliminate the problem for long.

Had to change my alternator bearing started goin bout 10 months ago finally started gettin caught and making the belt slip. Glad I took it apart before goin to get the new one needed an idler pulley and belt in the end. Pretty easy replacement all in all except for that bs bottom bolt on the mount ac line in the way to get a socket in fan in the way to use ratcheting wrench but a good ole stubby 15mm did the job!
Goin to a friends house after walking dead to do the diff and t case service finally.

That's why you get a scrap piece of plastic to practice on, try some different techniques to see what happens. If you don't like how anything comes out, toss em. Find something you do like, eyeball your truck and see how much stuff you can paint with your newly developed skills.

Side note, if you don't want to deal with trying to sand down the texture on the caps, use spray on primer. That sands down really easy and fills in those tiny gaps giving you a nice smooth surface.

The new 07 is kinda gawdy. It sticks out pretty fat but by far better lookin!!!

Never heard the 07 wiper blade described as gaudy, but I do agree it looks much better. It actually looks like a solid piece as opposed to the older ones.

I actually use my rear wiper, especially in the winter when it's got a bunch of buildup and crap from the salt and sand trucks, so I wouldn't consider it. I tote to many kids in my truck to take the risk.
