It worked, and held for several months before we did the body lift and pulled it off the vehicle. Survived all of Moab.

So what did you do with the bar?

PS My TB has been to Moab too. Not for the expedtion you did though. I would like to come up with a quick connect type setup they use in offroad rally. I don't want to cut anything though to establish the mounts. Two on top and two below.

Still debating on lights. I want two distance beams and two wide floods that will light up as close to 180* as possible.

The 500ff's are 7" iirc. They provide a fair amount of light but are more of a spot pattern. I am going to switch out the 450s on the bottom for a set of 550s as the beam pattern is like twice the width.

Hella makes both the 500FF in driving and fog lights. FF stands for Free Form technology. The housing and everything measures 7 inches, but the lense of the actual light is not that large. They are a 6 inch light and the 700FF are a 7 inch light. Both use 55 watt bulbs. The extra light output of the 700 is due to the larger reflector.

I had the 500FF but decided to keep my PIAA instead and sold them.

James has 4000 Hella and they are BIG and I believe he had cooling issues at one point due to the amount of coverage they provided for airflow to the grill. They measure near 9 inches total.

Been searching roguely, but how much "power" can we safely draw to the lights from a fusebox without a 2nd battery? I read some were running 100watts. I don't want dimming or flickering of any sort. And cooling issues are a huge :nono: to me. May need to hit up JD.

So I ran in Canyonlands at night with both the roof lights and my regular lights and my driving lights all on, all 55W HID's except roof which is 35W HID's. Do the math.

No flickering, only got dimming when we open/closed sunroof/windows. Radio was going, CB was on and we where using the 12v to power our crap cooler. Probably had both iphone charging too.

I just purchased a new alternator, 250AMP and a new Diehard Platinum P-4 Battery and plan on doing a Big 4 wire upgrade this week, I already have all my wiring and connectors, just haven't gotten to that part yet. Still fusing with suspension. Should help even things out.

Just reread what you wrote. I guess I should of mentioned this, driving lights I tapped the battery and the roof lights I tapped where the power comes into the big fuse block in back. Of course I used inline fuses and relays.

:duh: I was thinking total height when I posted that, and then looking back Mike has it listed in his post. Thats what I get for skimming from the phone.

I could not find the FF's in fog when I was looking, at least not in stock anywhere. However I do like the reflector and as an auxiliary light they do what I need which is to supplement the headlights. The ones I have are the driving pattern, should have been more specific.

Im running the ones on the front directly off of the battery to a fused relay, 220 watts with all 4 plus the HID's for the low beams. The roof lights are also 55 watts each and they are ran to the big wire in the back with fused relays. I also used 12 gauge for all feed wires so I can upgrade to 100w bulbs. With all the lights on (12 including lows and highs), the CB and idle I have seen no dimming. Also have seen no issues with cooling, but it has not been very hot since the install and mine are smaller than others.

Man I haven't run a set of aux lights in 14? years. Even then it was all plug and play.

Guess I have some homework to do on the inline relays and fuses needed. Seems simple enough though. I am good a blowing a fuse or two and finding out later that another blew. :rotfl:

Are you trying to make it removable? You just need some quick disconnects for the wiring along the path after the relay. As for plug and play, you could make it plug and play, but I would advise against it.

I originally never detailed how I wired things, but currently one of the projects I'm working while re-doing a bunch of things is documenting a lot of things for my build thread. One of them being wiring of lights. Especially since I'm making more changes. I should have this stuff up and online by the end of the month.

Ideally I would like the bar to be removable. I would definitely have quick connects for the wiring.

mikekey: Were the "z" mounts still attached when removed? I don't want to take the bumper off every time...

To stay on tread topic... I'm doing homework on aux lights and the TB is in the garage because it is C-Lean. There is snow out there though.. :dogonachain:

Mine was removable, with two bolts. And unhook the plugs for the HID's. Granted, the bolts aren't like quick disconnect in 5 seconds.

I just finished cleaning the Ski Doo and packing gear, Getting it ready for it's first trip this year. Time for a little shut eye then heading 5 hours north to North Bay for our annual boys trip, Thursday to Sunday. This year we'll have 16-18 sleds on the trip. It's always fun when everyone lines up on a lake and we race accross to the other side. Here's link to our trail system, green is good to go, yellow is open limited and red is closed http://ofsc.mapbase.ca/viewer/?exte...3.33569397,-8836722.23378868,5765762.49532616 currently 24750 km's of open trails to ride.

Does your Ski Doo really do over 120mph?

It better if the condtions are right. It's hard to go that fast and NOT buy a sled. :rotfl:

Maybe it's like the non-SS TB. 120MPH speedo, governed at 90. I remember a post from the OS, some guy with rather poor English going "My TB isn't working right! How to get to max speed?" or something like that. :rotfl:

Or better yet - the '88 Accord I had long ago. 130MPH speedometer, governed at 90 (no overdrive so the little 2-liter carbureted thing was already at 4k), managed to "break" the governor by hitting max speed then going down a big hill. Got it up to 100, but that thing really sounded like it didn't like it lol.

Mine won't, it's only a 600 (good on gas tho). I've seen 107mph on the Speedo, true GPS speed would be less. Not bad considering im geared and clutched for corner to corner in the bush. Im not a straight line lake racer and find it kinda boring, I'd rather be in the twisties

Thanks to PCMofNC I had my speed limiter removed. I have only hit 118mph on the interstate though (Trying to merge getting around dumba$$ drivers). Not sure what the "max speed" would be, nor if I would want to go any faster.

Doing? What am I doing? I'm FREEZING that's what I'm doing!

Hate being in the office right now, central heat is non-functional so it is 44 degrees in here. I got my space heater going to warm it up and my door closed, but it takes a while to get the room comfortable!

It sure is. Once the main fire is out it is just overhaul and it was cold. All day was at least -15c or more plus wind chill.

Not really. There was a decent blaze in Maquoketa, IA a few years ago when they were in a deep freeze. A good 1/3-block of stores burnt down (those old 3-story building types).

The firemen were on the street about 10-15 feet from the blaze in some portions, electric lines halfway between them. Half the water that got sprayed toward the flame turned into huge icicles on the lines. A restaurant down the way offered free coffee and I think reduced price/free food for firemen on break.
