Headed to my buddy's place as soon as class is over at 2 - gonna help him wake up his old AMC Eagle and participate in some shenanigans in the snow - in a 34 year old 4x4 car. :wootwoot:

Might not even get to class now - currently stuck on WVU's esteemed PRT (personal rapid transit) system. Stuck in a 5x12 (roughly) tram car with 4 others waiting for movement from our current position. This could be a while...

Still stuck, and no, its not too rapid right now (or most any other day, for that matter). Right now its a PIA instead of a PRT. I suppose that's what you get when your school chooses to keep using 70s infrastructure and tech, that is not only outdated but also operating at way over its designed capacity, on its transit system.

current stuck time: 45 minutes

Careful out there - I just got to my Voy, everything here is nasty too. Was stuck on that PRT a grand total of one hour and a few minutes. Now to deal with the roads...

:rotfl: No they ride on rails. The tugs we use though cannot have a lot of tread so they are slippery. Nothing like trying to push 35 tons of machine in the snow.

Just got word that the base is on restricted access, which means for me 5 day weekend with pay.

Now I am waiting to see if I need to use my authoritah to get back on and pick up the fiance. Dropped her off this morning, and while the roads had snow on them I didnt think they were bad. However, this crap cannot be plowed, it just blows into the other lane because it is so light.

Actually reading troll posts and some light bar homework. :book:

Oh and we call it drifting snow. Snow here is light and fluffy. I can use a leaf blower today to clear the driveway.

You going for an LED bar or one with separate halogen lamps. I looked into doing separate LED lights, but the cost would have been insane compared to the Hella's. I have maybe $200 tied into the entire assembly. I spent maybe $30 more buying hardware for mockup use, but did not need, so it's in the parts box for later use.

Probably Hellas, some big ones-9"? 2 or four up front. That troll Mikekey should give some specifics on what he did on his bumper.

I like the rally look a lot. No LEDs for the TB. Maybe one in the future on top.

I meant to buy the ones that JD on ORTB has, somehow ordering shit at 1am on Amazon I ended up with all the wrong lights. But they still work.

I ordered the Hella 500FF, which are smaller at 6 inches.

I then retrofitted them with a 55w DDM HID kit at 5000K temp.

James has Hella Rallye 4000's. They're larger at 9 inches. Also more expensive.

The front bumper when removed just happens to have two holes where mine are currently mounted. And I now have the lights plugged into the factory fog connectors. Seems to work.

Before that when I still had the bumper, I had just made a custom mount rather than drill holes into my bumper:

Does this answer your questions!

So it's a 1/2inch aluminum bar, the same one I used for the light bar on the roof following JD's original instructions on ORTB.

I used a metal bracket from the wood section for the bend shaped like a Z. I think the bracket is for putting two beams together.

It attached to the screws that hold the bumper in place, if you pop off your grille you'll notice them. I had to drill my own holes in the bracket itself.

When I first set it up, I had some bounce to it. So I ended up getting longer screws (seen in my last picture) that created pressure against the bumper to keep it more stable. And stuck a small piece of rubber under each one as not to scratch the bumper paint.

It worked, and held for several months before we did the body lift and pulled it off the vehicle. Survived all of Moab.

The 500ff's are 7" iirc. They provide a fair amount of light but are more of a spot pattern. I am going to switch out the 450s on the bottom for a set of 550s as the beam pattern is like twice the width.
