I got a new toy today!!!!! I picked up a Ruger LC9 with a LaserMax laser for 369.99

Looked at one of those at the gun show this past weekend, but really liked the feel of a new Charter Arms Pug .357 for a new night stand piece.

But I only left with a bunch of Mosin ammo, and some Tannerite to shoot this coming Sunday. Now just need to decide what I’m going to attach a few 1 and 2 pounders to, stuffed animals, Dolls, old shitter, refrig...any suggestions?

I have a Taurus 605 (.357) that was my CCW and night stand gun, now the LC9 will take it's place as my CCW.

I looked at a LC9 Sat I think it was, also suited with the laser sight. I have to take a trip to the Sheriff's office for a buy permit, but I probably won't be accepted. I was looking at getting my CCW last year but the Sheriff said no because he felt that if my ex husband who has attempted to take my life before were to walk into my home, I would use deadly force to protect myself and my children.

That's the problem with these small towns. Everyone know's everyone, and because my ex grew up here and on top of it all is a war veteran, they will allow him to get away with everything...including attempted murder, they would rather I go down than to clean up the brain matter of their own hometown hero who has many listed and recorded mental illnesses. :hissyfit:

BUT that was last year, this year since they passed the new CCW law, it should make things go a lot smoother. The law states that anyone can get a CCW with appropriate training and who has not been admitted into a mental hospital in the last 2 years, so I'm good!! My dad has been a long time carrier and has taught a few training courses at local(MI) police departments. I have followed in his footsteps for years now and continue to do so...mainly because I have to out do the old man

I may just go back and get that LC9...but I'm not sure. I have a hard time fitting handguns because I'm so small. I do know a 4" or less barrel would be acceptable for carry, but finding a grip and a 10+ clip for a gun that size may be difficult. At least here anyways.

Are you firing Plus P or Fmj ammo? I fired one with Fmj but heard that the plus P gave it a bit more of a kick? Was wondering if you noticed a big difference?

Don't admit it, but I hope you carried anyway. It's better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

Ya, 10 shots would be nice.

I got 100 standard and 20 +P rounds. I didn't notice much difference

You don't buy a gun without shooting it first....Just like you don't buy a car without driving it first!!

Right now my M&P 9c is my OC, CC and night stand. I have put the 1884 S&W in .38 S&W in the night stand a few times, old family passdown, and still shoots great.

Sometimes you only get to shoot one like it and end up buying a different one. A car you generally buy the one you drove.

I almost always shoot a used gun first (if it's a privet seller), but new isn't as easy. Guns are a lot easier to flip without losing your ass than cars though.

I agree and disagree lol.

You can test fire an LC9 and go down to your local gun store and buy an LC9..It will fire the same way and handle the same as the LC9 you just tested.
As far as test driving cars, I have a different method. IF it's a new car I would NEVER buy the one that I just test drove, because I wouldn't want to fix anything I possibly broke or replace the tires once it's off the lot. A used car is a bit different, as you need to drive it like hell to know if everything is functioning properly, however I wouldn't make either purchase without being well aware of how it handled and if it "fit" me. I'm a small woman at 4'9 so I have to try everything out several times before I buy it, because it may not fit. Most men can shoot most guns, their hands are big enough and they have the upper body strength to hold a small handgun with a bigger recoil. Plus experience makes a big difference too. Inexperienced shooters can get in big trouble with a gun like an LC9 and full house loads, as the gun can get a bit harder to handle.

I have shot and fired a lot of guns in my short life, but I would not consider myself experienced in the personal protection category. I can shoot the hell out of some milk jugs lol but you don't need +p ammo or any full house loads for that.

Isn't that the whole point? To use in self-defense? Duh... What is that sheriff thinking :duh:

I agree and disagree with the weapons. If you fire a friends weapon and it has been modified it will fire different than a stock weapon. I can understand you having to try things multiple times. My dad's girlfriend is about your size as well.

Thats why you don't shoot a modified version unless you plan on making those same modifications, or at least don't base your purchase on the modified version. I wouldn't test drive a lifted Envoy like Regulator's if I wanted to use it as a DD and not an OR toy

I have spent 5 minutes staring at this post making sure it makes sense. You do have a point..but I wouldn't base my purchase on a modified product unless I was planning to make the same or similar modifications to my gun.

And in the spirit of having fun gun pics in this thread, here's a 22 carbine I rented at the shooting range the other day:

and a .44 Magnum I was playing with that day as well:

And a video of the 22 Carbine in action:

Sheriffs like this guy are the reason just about everybody has gone "shal issue"... Too much small time politics getting in the way of honest people being legally allowed to protect themselves from very real threats!

I was thinking the Sheriff is full of crap.
He is denying you a CCW right?
In your own freaking home you don't need one!
You can shoot the scoundrel with the shotgun or the pistol on top of the fridge or just hit him with the cast iron skillet.
The CCW should only apply in public

This is true, but if he knows she can't carry pubicly, he could presumably attack her outside of the home.

He already attempted that, in fact he joined the 24 hr fitness gym I had joined simply because my restraining order does not "work" in paid public places like Gym's and grocery stores. I have had this useless piece of paper "Protection Order" for almost 3 years now and every officer has failed to enforce it. They have told me it basically means he has to stay away from my house, but he can sit at a bar across the street of my house and stalk me? It happened, so I moved. He decided to follow suit and move to the same town. I have 2 children with him, and unfortunately he still received unsupervised overnight stays with the boys after he tried to shoot me when I was 6 months pregnant. He even admitted to it in court and the judge did nothing, said he was not a harm to anyone but me, which is false as he has attempted to harm himself several times.

Now the situation where I was not awarded a CCW was BEFORE the new law had passed. I can now legally and rightfully attain a Carry permit. Plus I think we have a new Sheriff. In Iowa I need a Buy permit from my Sheriff in order to purchase a gun, I could not get one of those either...so I was rendered defenseless by the law. But yet they failed to protect me and enforce a restraining order. I slept and still sleep with a weapon close by...and on top of it all I have a trained Personal Protection 200lb Saint Bernard who refuses to leave my side, he would have one hell of a time getting to me. He may get in the house....but I can promise he wouldn't get out, at least alive anyways.

I keep renewing the useless restraining order simply because it keeps him from purchasing or owning a gun. That makes me feel slightly safer, although I know he can still find a firearm illegally. If it happens we will cross that bridge, but for now he has followed the no firearm rule.

I don't want to hurt anyone, but I will be damned if someone messes with my babies!

Some sort of magazine extension, or is that how it's made?

It is a 16 round magazine that came with it. The gun is a XD 9 Sub-compact, not a compact M

Happy and sad day today. I traded my Taurus 605

GEDC0026.jpg

for my LC9's little sister, a pink LCP for my wife (it had only fired 6 rounds, 7 if you include the test round)

well i had the privledge of firing my first gun for my birthday back on feb 5th... my brother (JosueLT) took me to the shooting range here in Akron Ohio.. first time ever shooting a gun, holding a gun, loading a gun... talk about surreal... i really didnt know what to expect... but i went for it...

first gun was a Baretta 9MM 16 rounds i do believe...
second gun was a 9mm Rifle.. dont remember the technical name for it...
3rd, was a little .22 cal i do believe... just sounded like a little firecracker and would piss someone offf if they got shot with it..

but overall, i just cant explain the feeling and joy i had in doing that... definetly addicting, and MY GOD do you go through the amo fast... we had over 400 rounds, and it was gone in less then 15-25 munites...

I used to shoot once a week about 100 rounds, 50 25 Cal and 50 38+ or 357 Cal. The larger stuff was reloads so the price was good but after a year, the quality started really going down. Cases that wouldn't chamber because they were a little too big up to out right bulges or bulges with splits at the base.. Decided new ammo was a lot safer than an accident. Unfortunately life conspired to prevent me from going to the range.

Shot placement is a little more critical than a .50, but lots of animals and people have been killed using a .22...

.22 bouncing around and fragging inside you or a .50 hole through you will both kill you.
