Drove it to work. It gets to be my 500 mile per week commuter until I find another gas-getter. Was nice driving through downtown on 35s though. People get out of my way alot more.

Took advantage of an 80* day for a wash and wax! Also, tinted the turn signal portion of the headlights. But, I'm thinking the grill is going to have to go back to black...

Received a call from the shop after they performed the alignment.

"We found that the caster was out slightly on the right side, however we are going to have to charge an additional $65 to make the adjustment"

I asked..$65 to loosen 3 bolts and retighten?

"Yes, it takes a long time to do this"

I said to button it up because I'm not paying $165 for an alignment. Anywhere else I have been to doesn't charge extra for caster on my envoy.

They ended up leaving it at $99.

Today I did a "rough" install of my new thump. After Saturday's meet is over, I'll work on more of the cosmetic stuff.

The heck? I guess at least you know where NOT to go again and where to tell others not to go.

Keep a close eye on tire wear.
Not saying it is intentional, but they don't sound very reliable. Maybe take it some place else and have it checked.

At least one of them will be going in the 'Hoe. Not sure about both.

Two JBL GTO1514 subs in a two chamber sealed box. (1.5 cubic feet per chamber)
Powered by a JBL GTO 1001EZ amp. (650w RMS @ 4 ohms)

I'll have a build thread for it when I'm finished.

I had a couple of teaser pics posted...

Thank you! That was just 2 coats. I previously used VHT Niteshade on the tail lamps of my Ram and our '01 Suburban. These came out looking so much darker after 2 coats. I'm sure it has to do with the clear lense and white truck.

Well, let's just say that every time I crank them up, I have to readjust the rear view mirror. (I never had to do that with the Basslinks)

My ELM bluetooth got here today so I played with the TB and my dads POS Ford... I like it, better than my old scantool that didn't have half the monitoring capabilities of Torque... Now i just wish I knew the enhanced PIDs and had a application for bi-directional control for my laptop..

Been chasing a vibration between 60 & 70 and had the tires rebalanced which cleaned it up slightly, but then started back up at 65.

Had the tires road-force balanced and they said they cheked out great but the driveshaft had a slight amount of movement at the yoke.

So I climbed under there after work tonight and realized that the bronze colored c-clips were not there but had a recess for them on the strap side of the joint.

I think I was at the point of insanity when I was pressing them out that I didn't think much of it. Luckily I saved the extra clips and tapped the caps in a little and bingo, the clips slid in.

There were many clips so I figured they were just alot of extras, I still have 2 but they are not needed.

All is good now, nice and smooth.

Installed a new door check on the driver side door. No more loud click - click - click when opening the door.

Getting ready to seafoam already cleaned throttle body and revived air filter.
Also bought my self a new tool box, and I am way too hungover for all this nonsense.

took a photo of my rusty drive shaft. (last week)

what do you think?

Was it rescued from the ocean?

Wow, I would question the integrity of the entire assembly. I would get a clean salvage yard shaft and replace the U-joints if that were mine.

Why does this cap appear to be extended past the yoke?

I though they were recessed, mine is.

in this shot you can see the original component label. these are original from the factory, (with a little road-salt enhanced corrosion) You can also see some rust on the mounting bracket for the EBCM and BCMV.

the rust is a little scary to look at, but is sound and does not flake off.

unless and until I get any functional indication that the U-Joint is acting up, my plan is to drive it. I just use it on the road, and have not towed anything.

when the gas pump was leaking and the dealer tech wanted to change out the Drive shaft due to rust ($900 and four day delivery), I looked on the web for any indication that anyone had a functional failure due to rust. nada. if you know of any which really have failed, i would be interested in the details.

not sure I could get the U joint straps off the differential part.

There's a few lots in your area that will likely have a shaft, $100 or under. Just remove the 4 bolts at the rear yoke and the shaft slides out of the trans...I'll PM you a few links.

It is another beautiful day in central Missouri. So, I painted the inner grill satin black. I also started prep for some plasti dip on the wheels. I had wondered what to do for the bowties on the center caps. I did not want to leave them faded gold. I had though about painting them red for a color splash. But I wanted to keep the look "plain". So, I took some of the High Heat Silver I had used on the brakes and thought I'd give that a try...

I peeled off the plasti dip. Thinkin about painting them with real paint. I don't want a temporary solution. I want a permanent solution.
