(over the last few days...finished today...all on the Sierra...)
- new upper BJ (twice, same side)
- new passenger side hub
- new brakes / rotors, all 4 corners; completely flushed fluid
- new rear brake calipers (old ones were rusted to hell)
- new idler arm / pivot bracket (ordered the arm for a 'base' 1500 by accident, & had to wait for the correct one)
Still more work to do, but writing that list down and reviewing it...I'm happy, for now. A trans service, fuel filter, & rear diff service are next up, and then we'll see about hooking her up to the trailer (can't wait.)
Someday, I'll attack the drivers' side front axle seal (it's leaking pretty badly, from what I can see). That will be a fun project (not!). Since I rarely use 4wd, it automatically goes to the back of the priorities list.
Add all of that to the new tires, shocks & battery, and it's starting to look (& drive) like a new truck, mechanically. Last handling piece to put in for now is an intermediate steering shaft, to hopefully get rid of the 'clunk' during certain turning maneuvers.
Was going to create a rant to AC Delco re: having to grind the tabs of one set of the front 'Professional' pads - but since both of the passenger side pads went on relatively smoothly, the issue is likely with my driver-side caliper.
(and yes, I know the pads go on in a particular order - I didn't mix up the inboard / outboard sides, like the previous owner did, thank you very much!)
Just how does one put *both* outboard pads on one wheel, and both *inboard* pads on the other?
Shoulda bought the Silvy...LMAO
