Did you get fresh gear oil for the rear? Good time to change it. Very easy to do before it is bolted to the truck!

Canceled my order from Shockwarehouse. The front bilsteins and the upper shock mounts have been in "processed" for four days now. Amazon restocked and I went ahead and ordered with them. Lift kit goes on this weekend.

Messed around with my DIY makeshift cold air intake. I had a dryer tube before but took a piece of gutter cover (about $3) and fabricated a rough channel for the outside air. I also took my spare air filter cover and opened up the area above the filter to get more of the air to the rest of the filter. Seems every time I change my filter it's dark in one area which is near the front.

I removed the plastic deflector on the side of the condenser and core support to allow the air into the engine compartment. Needs some more fabrication but this is just a rough model. May not make a huge difference but it's cheap and it's pretty much a straight path into the airbox.

Opening the inside of the airbox was a show. That thing is ridiculously strong.

There's no fluid in the new diff...the way I had to store it, it all drained out the vent tube.

I'm picking up enough on Friday to do both the front and the rear.

I don't believe in throwing parts blindly at issues, but since it's the original FPR, and I cannot verify pressure at the rail, I figure it wouldn't hurt to have piece of mind and I don't feel too bad as it's 13 years old. I didn't know there was a screen in there so even though it runs wide open mostly all the time, it's possible the insides can get old and possibly restrict flow.

i really only care about the power option on the drivers seat, i don't care what color they are. I'd prob be up for a swap if you want the ss seats

Finally got around to test fitting the fogs. I did not have to modify the front bumper cover to get the fogs to fit, only had to remove the H1 retaining bracket and clip. Kind of a pain to put back on while laying under the truck, but it worked.

Alignment looked good. The fogs look great and will compliment the headlights. Just need to trim the shroud to fit and seal the housings and they are ready to install.

You should post this in the retrofit thread. They look good man did you get the shroud to fit yet? And does the lense cover give a gap between the projector?

Found the culprit for the annoying clicking sound coming from my HVAC door mode actuator when I would turn the unit off or change to defrost. It appears two teeth on the large gear were worn down/broke off. Clicking sound was the gear slipping. Too bad AC Delco does not just sell the internal parts. Probably only a couple $$$ part. On the bright side I will have a windshield defroster this winter :celebrate:

Never would have been able to get the mounting screws out without my mini deluxe ratchet set. 7/32 socked on a 1/4" splined drive shaft and a splined spinner on the end. Just enough room and splined spinner on the end gave me enough leverage.

I also cleaned up and painted over some rust forming on the lower portion of the drivers door and the rear drivers side passenger door. Passenger side doors looked ok.

Today, when Sparky gets here: replacing rear axle with a G80 version, replacing outer drivers side diff seal, installing brand new parking brake hardware and hopefully doing a full brake flush with DOT 4.

Got the axle swapped yesterday, new parking brake hardware but the front outside diff seal totally screwed up. Couldn't get it out with the rented slide hammer, so I sent Sparky to the gas station for a gatorade so we could use the cap to cover the opening (Thank you Roadie!!)...we farked up the seal enough to not be able to get the CV back in. (No pics of the carnage) Now I have to get it to a shop and have them take out and replace the seal and CV.

Old axle

Got some help from my friend, who's a GM mechanic, and got the ascender lights installed, he moved some of the pins/wires to get the brakes and signal to work. we're going to do the reverse lights tomorrow...

Rear actuator failed when my battery died at the end of winter, finally got around to replacing it. Broke the half-moon end off the blend door shaft, but I still had the star part to slide into the actuator. I couldn't get it to line up with the actuator teeth, so I took the cover off the actuator.

If you take the middle gear off you can freely rotate the actuator slot to get in on. Once I got it on, I reinserted the middle gear and then put the cover back on with the actuator still in place.

Of course, after a reset procedure, it didn't move the door properly.

Manual calibration.... took the actuator off but left the harness connected, asked the rear temp control for cold air. Moved the door manually to the cold position. The actuator moved. So I turned the truck off, gently took the cover off the actuator, removed the middle gear, then wiggled the actuator slot enough to get the actuator back on. Reinserted the middle gear and cover, three screws and everything worked properly.

Well, that didn't happen. I dropped the truck off at 7.30 when they opened. Written on the paperwork was the fact that the axle, seal and fluid was in the passengers footwell. Cocksucker rang me at 4.30 and said they weren't going to touch it because the axle was out of it and they didn't know what the condition of the diff was.

Are you shitting me? Fucking 9 hours waiting and you do that?

Looked on the website of the dealership I traded her into and it's not on their inventory anymore. Now it's real. The realization I'll never see her again.
