Fixed the center console lid again. This time I replaced the plastic welds with screws. They weren't even broken though.

Just did a couple of things;
New tires, went a little bigger this time and went all terrain, put on the air intake a few days back.

Looking at cab lights for the Envoy. My previous truck was a 2500HD and had a set. I miss the look. Trying to decide between the narrower 02-06 lights or the wider 07+ lights.

I hit a bird with it, which managed to wedge its head between the bumper cover and headlight. When I tried to extract the bird from there it popped its head off :ugh: Good thing it was dead already...

What size are the tires?

I have a question though...when displaying trans temp in Torque Pro, I have the units in Fahrenheit but the value is low....about 70 deg when starting and 90 deg after an hour of driving.

What can I change to get the correct value?

Under the main page settings -> Manage extra PIDs/Sensors -> Add predefined set... Add the Pontiac/GM/Opel/Vauxhall PIDs. That should help.

Yeah, then there'll be two trans temp gauges, one will work and one won't.

As for my GMT, drove it to church then to Hardee's. Almost ran over a motorcyclist with it after he turned across in front of me so I gave him an FU with the horn for it.

That I did.

One works, and one doesn't, the one that works shows 80 to 90 deg F.

Low and behold when I headed home this evening, I was getting good temps for the trans temp gauge. They did creep up a little higher than my liking, but this is the pan temp and not what's coming directly from the cooler. Even though it dumps back in the pan, It's mixing in with some hot fluid.

I was getting 180-190 deg in mostly city driving, we'll see what the highway drive has to offer tomorrow but I'm definitely going to look into an aftermarket cooler....despite the high mileage already.

If you're getting trans temps that are lower than your engine coolant temps during city driving, I'd say you're doing really well. How long were you running for? I guess that's kinda important too.

This pic has been posted a few times around here and TV for reference when trans operating temps have been discussed. :twocents:

Even with my cooler my temps approach 200 on 90+ days. I'm not that concerned about it though.

I filled her with gas.

Fixed its fog light issue. And put on a newer driver side fog light. One of the bulbs from 3five had a problem with its igniter or whatever causes the spark. It would spark but not turn on.

Going to be taking off the rear bumper cover tonight and getting everything prepped to fix some rust holes on the back gate and rear end. Probably going to take the front bumper cover off too while im at it so I can get things sized up for some build ideas. Only thing im hazy on, since I've never taken the bumper covers off, do I need to disable the airbags since im working around airbag impact areas?

I never bothered. The sensors are behind the metal bumper part somewhere. Just taking the cover off won't trigger anything, especially with the ignition off.

Oil change and trans flush. Going to try some 0W-40 this time.

The Dorman pan makes this much easier/cleaner.

Why the change in oil weight?

The noises I had during startup, made me ponder the 0-weight. Then given the 220K miles, I figured I would give it a shot. Going to compare cold start, noises when hot and cold, MPG's...pretty much a trial. The M1 0W-40 is also SN rated, probably won't make too much difference since this motor was built during I believe the "SL" era. Alot of people like it, and it's not as thick at start up as a 5W oil.

I can understand the 0 weight, but why the 40? Noise after warm-up?

Ehh, nothing drastic, but with the mileage I wanted to try it. Seems to have quite a following, but if it tanks my mileage I will go with the 0W-30 but the 0W-40 has more of the anti-wear agents of the Phosphorus and zinc than the 0W-30 or 5W-30.

I'll give it a try and see.
