Installed a new radio today. Went with a Pioneer FH-X720BT. Nothing fancy but now I have Bluetooth music and hands free phone calls. :wooot:

This was the first radio I've ever installed solo. Definitely not as complicated as all those wires make it appear to be.

Looks good man

I want to upgrade to a double din touch screen at some point. Maybe even add a backup camera

As for what I did to my GMT, I got to clean the adhesive off of my windshield.

Ordered spark plugs and a new front O2 sensor to get ready for the 100K service.

Woke up in it. Was in it last night listening for the little sounds (trying to figure out if it's an amplifier or the fan attached to the temperature sensor). Did not get much sleep Thursday into Friday due to pain in the hand. While waiting for some additional quiet about 11:00 pm (I live near the Oakland airport) I dozed off. Woke up about 4:30 AM.

While I like my OEM Bose receiver, if I ever replace it it won't be with a radio. I listen so little to broadcast radio that I would probably replace it with a tablet and an amplifier. It looks like plenty of space for about a 7 inch tablet or possibly a mini iPad. And if it were an android tablet it could easily include the torque app. In one piece, for a relatively low price, you have music, movies, apps, and I will bet there is some app to connect it to the phone to work as a wireless handset. If it's an android you could add a small portable hard drive for your media. If you are able to park close enough to your residence you can connect and update via Wi-Fi or you could probably do it at a Starbucks. Throw in a Bluetooth keyboard for those times when you have more than 20 words to post on GMTNation or Facebook. If the tablet has telephone capability, it could easily be used as a remote starter, GPS tracker for an alarm system, emergency lock or unlock of your doors, etc. The only drawback is it is likely not to have any control through the steering wheel.

Just my ideas. I certainly wouldn't turn away a good stereo if it were easily within the budget and I started to like broadcast radio a little more.

Been thinking about doing this myself. Steering wheel contols would be a deal breaker for me. A few products on the market simlar to this one. http://www.rcjoycon.com/base_3/menu_11.php?com_board_basic=read_form&com_board_idx=383&menu=11

Didn't you just put a tranny cooler on? Probably either from that or oil filter. I guess mod time will be reduced for repair time?

Had the beaSSt back out on the road Friday. She's been down for the count again trying to troubleshoot loss of power in the midrange the top end and the tranny not shifting at WOT. This problem has been going on since the Midwest meet in Indiana back in June, but with me working 70-75 hours per week between 2 jobs, shes just been parked in the garage. A family friend is a mechanic of 25 years at the local Chevy dealership and he brought home his scanner ($2500! Impressive machine boy I tell ya) and a fuel pressure gauge. So on to road testing we went. He took over my computer and was making the transmission shift (truck wasn't commanding the tranny to shift from 2-3), etc... MAF was ok, O2's were ok, Air to Fuel was ok, tranny was ok (thank God), everything was coming out ok and no codes thrown. So onto testing fuel pressure. Full 60 lbs across the board. With nothing else left to test, he just said let me take it in and replace your cats again since it's under warranty. Cats were replaced back in May before the meet due to a CEL so it was hard to believe that they'd be the culprit. They're both pretty much brand new since its only been 5 months and less than 600 miles on them and I still have the 8 yr/80k warranty on them. New cats on and voila! Back to screaming power and regular shifting again ( I thought my tanny was gone because it was just slipping and not shifting once over 3k rpms). Amazing what one little clogged cat can do. I even lost a race to a friggin rusted out late 90's Dodge Durango!

Now that she's all dialed in, she'll be getting parked for the winter now and come spring time, I have the green light to go crazy with her and throw all my mods (and more) back on her...
