What did you do to your GMT today?

Added Tachometer, changed spark plugs. Engine a lot smoother and sounds a lot healthier, noticeable regain in power
I can dig a digital readout even with the analog one there. The analog doesn't give you the definitive depth of scope like the digital. While the digital may allow you to notice small discrepancies, the analog you have to stare mighty hard to see a little 10RPM drop now and again, IF it even shows up.

And as for the other gauges on the pod: it'd be really cool if an ammeter could be rigged up. One of the simple Draw/Charge style meters. While voltage meters can tell a story, ammeters can really give you some good insight into minor draws you didn't know were occurring otherwise sometimes. I loved the one that was in the old Dodge I had.

Me? I played with my new AC/DC clamp meter on it yesterday. Did you know that apparently my vehicle draws ~26 amps at idle? This isn't an accurate measurement I think, I'll get another one done from the alternator as that should be more on-the-dot than a battery cable.

I did the quad beam mod (with a diode) and finally got around to pulling a shot from my dashcam of them in action.
The foreground light provided by the low beams does help quite a bit at night.

Drove the Avy up to Deep Creek Lake this weekend for a weekend getaway with my younger brother and his friends. Met some cool people and went to a few of the state parks go swim in the natural pools and get some waterfall action. MPG was a bit less than our TN trip, but was happy with the trucks performance. Was planning on taking the TB so I could hit Savage mountain for some off road fun, however some issues popped up the night before the trip. Passenger side CV boot is leaking grease, easy fix yes, but the other issue being my AC makes a noise now, and I think my disconnect is about to bite the bullet. Guess its time to start sourcing bearings, seals and an AWD sleeve. So if anyone driving on route 219, or I 68/70/270 seen a silver Avalanche with a GMT sticker it was me and the wifey.

Started the I6 to V8 swap.

This is how far away the tranny gets from the I6 original position. I'll modify that this week:

And wiring all labeled ready to be placed in:

I will do a thread of the whole process and details, as reference for anyone else trying to go this stupid

Any suggestion is highly welcome. I'm a total nub with this.... thing.

Rotated the tires, 8k miles since the last rotation. First vehicle of mine that the tires were rotated more than the oil was changed. In the last 15months this is the third rotation and only 2 oil changes since. 65% left on OLM.

Said goodbye to the parts truck (97 C1500). Thanks for the spare tire carrier (and tools), chrome rear bumper, front grille, front lighting harness, underhood parts bin, underhood light, dual horns, door panels, hvac controller, headlight switch, cargo light switch, overhead light assembly, and a ton of misc bolts, clips, and trim pieces. She was barely a tick over 10lbs of oil pressure while running up to the salvage yard but she got there ok.

While I was there I wanted to get rid of all of my old batteries from the Trailblazers system. I turned them in and they gave me $11/each. That paid for the ride up and bought us lunch. Sweet!

Today i installed a new chevy steering wheel cover since it was worn to foam on the top of the wheel. The best part is i finally pulled the pcm out and sent it to PCMofNC for a tune!

Heard back from redline that the only difference between the cav and tb strut kit is the TB normally have 70# struts, the cavs have 50#. That's close enough for me.
Got all motivated to put em on tonight, realized my riveter doesn't do 3/16 (and that I drilled 2 holes in the side of the fender not the bottom, stupid picture orientation) No biggie, make a run to walmart, cause hell they have everything, I know I've seen em there before... Nope, only have em on-line.

sooo.... gotta hit up HF tomorrow and get a pop riveter that'll do 3/16 rivets

Idk if the pics do them justice but those filters look like they hold a quart each

Well my first thought was "Oh jimmy bought a bulldozer" Those things could filter a small towns drinking water.

I know I've missed a lot before coming here but...your SS has a Duramax in it? Or am I way off? You have an SS right? Lol

Oh, that first 10 seconds before the oil pressure hits... so scary...
You are cussing yet, so I assume the next 10 seconds were good?

So far, so good. It didn't blow up as soon as I turned it on. That's a win my book.

For my next magic trick, I will make this move under its own power! This being my first transmission rebuild, I am apprehensive...

After 7 years my TB has this piece of weatherstripping on the drivers rear door. I never knew it had these til someone pointed it out at a meet back in the day.

I've also been sprucing her up for Carlisle. Won't have my fancy hvac or glove box done in time though.

Is reception good?

Tie rod end, alignment, inspection, $211 (with tax). They looked into my mystery noise that I already know likely what it is pro bono out of curiosity I guess, but also found a bolt that was loose coming off and running into the CV shaft while looking for the noise! They tightened it and of course noise didn't go away (front diff bearing or inner tripot on CV).

Part: $107.99 (Moog)
Labor: $25 (I think I scored big on this, labor is $60/hr there)
Alignment: $54.99
Inspection: $12 (tag and inspection).
And then tax.

Received a call from Michelin today about tires on the wife's Equinox, tread separation on all four, took it in for a leak a few days ago when the shop noticed this, complete replacement of all four no charge, just under five years and 70 kilometers, great warranty. Goes in tomorrow after the PCM tune.

How is it?
I like it so far, got about 30mi with it. I chose the shift level 2 and am very happy with that. Its crisp with a lot less lag between gears but not so crisp it gives you whiplash. Deffentally a lot less lag in the throttle but also the vvt is not so pronounced in the upper rpm range. Will post mpg gain or loss after a few tanks.

Completed the PCM tune on the Equinox(major improvement already) these trucks have trans issues as well as poor fuel mileage, noticed improved shifting and lag is gone. New Michelin tires installed as per warranty. Need to pay some attention to the Envoy now(she's getting jealous) lol.

What your looking at is my reverse light socket. What you don't see is a bulb in it! Yep it laying crossways in the bottom! I guess my last trip through the timber, hills and over the log pile popped it out!
