Almost sat on the side of the road for awhile....got lucky.

I drained out a qt of oil so I could add some Marvel Mystery oil, headed off to the store (Peb Boys) on my way to run some errands and when I left the store with the MMO, I looked at the front of the envoy and had a flashback...

Nothing leaking but I just stared at it thinking......did I tighten the drain plug? I know I finger tightened it and put the small access panel back, but I remembered cleaning my hands and not using a wrench. I went into the shop and asked for a phillips head and a 15MM wrench, removed the panel and sure as sh&%, it was loose.

I got lucky since I was right next to the interstate and it would have likely worked it's way loose. :duh:

I added a Batman silhouette and Harlequin :inlove: to my repertoire of Batman decals, as well as put a blue LED strip behind the vent-like opening on the drivers side rear cargo panel.

Today was the first long (180 mile) trip with the mechman alt.So I rolled with the stocker alt, standard length belt, and the necessary tools just in case something went wrong. But, she did good the whole trip.

Well finally got home, towed the truck to the shop. Lost all gears while driving on the expressway. Hope it might be something easy, but gunna start looking for a new transmission...

No problem . I've wanted to repaint mine for months now, but I cannot for the life of me get the wiper arms off! I got a cheap wiper arm removal tool at Advanced Auto Parts, but it didn't even fit over the end of it  I've been looking around here for one that can fit. It's annoying me, I've repainted everything else trim wise on my TB, except the wiper cowl.

I ended up ordering a battery terminal puller off of amazon.com to get my wiper arms off. Without it, they would have never came off.

That was my next plan to order one, the ones in the Auto Parts stores down here are too thick to properly fit between the gap of the wiper cowl and wiper arm.

There are times that I'm not happy having a black truck. There are other times when I hear people painting their mirrors, wiper cowl, B, C, and D pillars, and everything else to match that I look at the black truck and say, "glad I don't have to do that mod."

What did I do to my GMT today? Nothing, but I did work on my mother's GMT 330

Tackled replacing all four ball joints and tie rods on this sucker....had FACTORY ORIGINAL ball joints that were riveted in from 1998.....no wonder my mother was complaining of loud clunking and horrible steering. They were 16 years old! This was my first experience with a metal grinder....grind baby grind. My ears are still ringing, should have put some plugs in!

Anyway, biggest thing for me was I learned something new...and some consider the riveted ones to be more difficult than our TB pressed in ones...so we'll see when I have to do my TB's.

Super mod weekend is finished!

This weekend I did the following:

Saturday --
Shopping for supplies
Rear badge and bowtie delete
Side moulding delete
Roof rack delete

Sunday --
Washed it
Matte black plasti-dipped all 4 wheels and centercaps
Matte black plasti-dipped grill
Matte black plasti-dipped all 3 step-plates
Used side moulding pieces to cover holes in roof
Touched up paint chips n such
Headlight restore (which failed.. worse now than before.. 'shatter effect' is apparently on the inside of lens.. just gonna buy new lenses if possible..)

Feast thine eyes on the finished product. Sorry bout the dark pic of the back, I'll try to get a better one after work tomorrow in the daylight..

Gotta love it, right? I'm glad that I was able to save my parent's some money...parts only cost $230 for all Moog ball joints, tie rods, and tie rod sleeves and then whatever the alignment shop charges us tomorrow. Compared to a shop that would likely run $600-$1,000 (correct me if I'm mistaken). But whoever came up with the idea for riveted ball joints (vs. bolt/nut or pressed in) is a moron. Just because of how difficult it makes replacing them! Lol!

Nice! Looks very simple and functional
More importantly, it's $98 cheaper than the one lc32 sells.

There was no way I was paying $100 for a little piece of metal

Dunno my Camaro has riveted upper ball joints and knocking those rivets off to swap the joint was a lot easier to me than pressing the joint out on the TB. Just used a cold chisel and a large hammer. Knocked those suckers right off.
