What did you do to your GMT today?

I need to quit ordering stuff, but our break in weather has motivated to actually make the truck nice again... Few more parts on the way now.

Stared at my silverado and contemplated fixing the blendor problem. Nah...I think I'll just put it off and complain about it when I drive it and it's stuck on the opposite thing that I want! lol

Worked on my taillights more today. One of them got a bit messed up after a coat. I guess there was some moisture on the light that I didn't see or something so now that coat messed up and now I have to sand it down.

Here's pictures of the progress.

And a picture of the mess up.

there's just something about going to 3 diff parts yards/junk yards scavangeing, and then have the owner not even look up at you when you ask about parts for your truck...ALMOST put me in a bad mood...

but then I remembered, it's nice out today, and I'm FINALLY getting around to chopping off the trash can

Changed hub assembly, thought I was done until I looked in the box and saw the rubber o ring. Had to tear it down again.

When finished I punched out the studs from the old hub assembly, I always keep them as backup.

What's the O ring for? I don't remember having any when I did mine?

They have em, you can see them when brand new in box, I can take a picture tomorrow of the old hub assembly.

Pic stolen from google:

I still have my old ones, I'm gonna to go look right now. I haven't noticed any adverse effects.

here's what I found on the net?

Axle Hub O-Ring features long-lasting durability and convenience. It provides a tight, lasting seal to prevent contaminants from entering the hub and keep grease from leaking out. Everything needed for a complete repair is included.

What brand are the hubs. The o-rings should be internal, and if one fell out than that might not be a good thing. The hub assemblies are a sealed unit.

I'd like to get to the bottom of the o ring. I made a write up on how to replace the hubs. I don't wanna lead people astray.

More Information for MOOG/NATIONAL 513188

More Information for RAYBESTOS 713188

More Information for TIMKEN 513188

I can see what appears to be a rubber ring on some of these. However the section that bolt to the steering knuckle should be one piece to the back edge. The bearing race should be on the inside of that. Considering the hole in the steering knuckle is just an open hole, putting an o-ring in that section would not make much sense. I know the o-rings on mine were only on the back, however it was just a seal and you could only see the outside edge that goes in between the inner race and out race.

I would be interested to see were this o-ring belongs though as it has me intrigued.

As seen in the link that is the o-ring
The ones I used were Raybestos, and I don't see the o ring in the picture that blazin provided. My old ones don't have it either, but they could have deteriorated away.

The moogs ones in the link looks like they have them

I guess it depends on the brand you get, you may have it or not, YMMV

Washed it for the first time in months lol

I treated mine to a full tank of gas this morning. Due to the snow that got dumped on us today, I will be driving it for a few days.

Gave the TB $70 so she could go fill up. Not sure who takes more money, the wife or the TB :undecided:

I know which one I do not mind giving it to though

The one that lets you take it for a good plowing every now and then.. :rotfl:

Gonna give mine a lube job today..

I spent a little more time tuning the stereo in the Bravada.
I am very impressed with my stereo now, I may have to play with the subwoofer position though, or maybe this weekend I should start on a new enclosure. The small sealed box I made to take less space is way too peaky. lol

I installed a Timken today. It had no O-ring (loose or attached) as shown in the picture. Also, it was stamped "KOREA".

The bearing was purchased new direct from Amazon and was delivered this past Monday.

Maybe. I have been wanting to go for a good plowing. But my back has not been in the mood. And it sucks, cause my wife has been in the mood.. :hissyfit:

Pretty sure the MOOG ones I installed did not have them either, then again it was one of the last things I did when reassembling the truck, and I was to the point where I wanted it to be done. I know the stockers did not have them.

This really has me interested now, as there is no reason manufacturing wise to have an O-ring in that location. The outside section should be one solid piece with no need for an o-ring.

I prefer the 22 gallon tank on the trailblazer, the Avalanche damn near set me into shock last fill up. 36 gallon tank.

:yikes: And I thought I had it bad with the 25 gallon tank. Most of the time I don't bother to look at how much it's costing to fill up. Although it's annoying when I use a pump that has a $$$ limit, and cuts off before my tank is full.

Got a pair of hubs on the way so i will check for an oring.

Did the passenger side front wheel bearing last night. It helped a little with the road noise. It didn't feel smooth like the new one.

I started on the driver's side this afternoon on my lunch hour. It was also a Timken, also marked KOREA. The old bearing, a "National" brand bearing that I got off Amazon, felt like there was rocks in it.

I replaced the right one 3 weeks ago and now the left one is making noise. TB only has 80K miles on it.

Let my brother and a friend audition the new audio setup. The friend is now unhappy with his $400 Focal components. :rotfl:
