By the way, tools list for throttle body/spark plug combo job -
-Straight-blade screwdriver
Used to remove two air hose clamps, and help pop clip and gain a little wiggle room to remove throttle body harness, and pop the wire clip on the resonator.
-3/8" ratchet
Just my choice as that's what size most of my accessories are for, a 1/4" may be used for space savings, and when re-applying things to ensure you don't over-torque.
-Ratchet accessories
--10mm socket
Every bolt you'll remove in the job is a 10mm. 2 holding the intake resonator, 4 holding the throttle body, and 1 on each coil pack.
--5/8" spark plug socket
Standard size needed for the plugs on this engine. The plugs are kinda long, make sure you have the rubber boot in the bottom so you don't chance damaging the insulator.
--2x 3" extensions
Becomes especially important toward the back, combined with the 5/8" socket makes the top come just out of the well where you can hook a socket on.
--Universal joint
Can be useful toward the rear of the engine when changing plugs.
--9" extension
Used to reach down in the spark plug wells much more easily, also made getting the throttle body bolts by attacking them standing at the side of the engine bay easier.
-10mm combination wrench
This can be used to loosen the coil pack bolts in hard-to-reach places, particularly in the back of the engine, and for the #1 cylinder if you can't get the clips for the front wire tray to come up too far.
-Long-nose pliers
Used to pull the two fuses as May03LT suggested in the fuse box - PCM I and PCM B (refer to locations 10 and 28 on the chart, I believe)
-Can of throttle-body cleaner
I used Valvoline Carb and Throttle Body, there's plenty of brands that are suitable. Also bring some paper towels, I used Scott Blue towels to set the part on to spray and GENTLY wipe.
Optional:
-Trouble lamp
Required for me since I ended up losing sunlight, makes seeing toward the back of the engine much easier, and helpful in finding lost tools.
-Magnetic pick-up tool
We're working at the top of the motor bay, if you drop something it could land anywhere from the top down. Having one on hand just in case could save you a headache.
-Philips-head screwdriver
Either this or the straight-blade can be used to open the skid plate door if you drop something down there.
I'd have done a full write-up, but I didn't take any pictures. I can still remember all the steps though if anyone wants that info. Also my cylinder 1 coil pack bolt was loose when I cracked into the job, glad I found that before too late (still dry in there fortunately!)
