I want to do the stealth box in the rear passenger side area of the cargo area. That would be all the sound I need for bass. I had my day of 2 Orion HCCA 12s with plenty of power on them. I noticed quite a bit of hearing loss from them.
I really underestimated how much sound this sub can put out. If you do get a stealth box, even a 10" should be more than enough to fill the cabin.

Loving that black interior, that might be a future upgrade for myself.

Just finished my wire upgrade and installing the new 250 AMP HO alternator. Last thing I need to do is run my alternator ground to the front of the engine block.

Old vs the new one (so shiney)

Low frequencies that the subs produce do very little to effect hearing loss. The higher frequencies played by the mid range speakers and tweeters, however, can do some damage if they are loud enough. Your ears are much more sensitive to the frequencies around 500hz-3khz, makes sense since that's about the frequencies of human voices.

Anyways I washed my truck today for a car show tomorrow called Wekfest. Some of you might of heard of it, it's pretty popular with the import scene. I'm one of two domestics that are listed on the registration page haha. Hope to get some nice pics tomorrow.

Throttle body cleaning and spark plugs. Back side of the plate was caked, front side had a bit too. Pictures to be posted later. Plugs looked like normal, worn plugs. Plugged everything back in, went to start, and it cranked once. Turns out "smart start" doesn't want to work on the first startup, so I held it by hand til it turned. Took the same or slightly less time to fire up, doesn't sound overly different, but drives like a wet dream now. What used to be a 0.875-1.0 throttle acceleration is now done by about a 0.625-0.75.

Realized why I has such a horrible ride with my new bilstien on all four corners. The place where I got my alignment emptied it way too much. It was running around 30-32 psi.

Its a lot of work. Taking each panel out and then re-installing it without breaking anything. The hard ones were the cargo ones since I didn't want to remove the rear seat-belt holders and the lower panels fit under the rear ones overlapping them.

Gave her a nice bath since it finally got above freezing for the first time in a couple weeks... :wootwoot:

Busted up my back, neck, and hands :hissyfit::banghead: and replaced the blower resistor, got back my fan speeds 4 and 5, which is nice for the winter!!!! :woohoo::dance:

Replaced the air filter...

After that stupid blower resistor, its time for :tequila::Lager Louts::Zzzz:

I don't have rear cargo panels. I threw them out.

True and false, while the ear is less likely to have permanent hearing loss from low frequencies, the pressures involved can however cause permanent damage. This can causing hearing loss across a range of frequencies rather than just the lower end. Higher frequencies even at lower pressures can cause it faster however.

Doing DB drag in my early days took its toll. I have issues with 4000hz to 6500hz, and have severe damage in the 9000hz range.

Were they black? and if so I wish I could have scooped them off of you if they were black.

Took out my HVAC controls and my radio today after searching for what type and how many bulbs I needed to fix my spottily lit dash turned up muddled results. Found out soon enough when I took it all apart - I'm surprised that there aren't more articles out there on how to repair the radio bulbs, it seems most people send their radios off for rebuilding or just get an aftermarket head unit. They're not hard at all to get taken apart, you just have to be careful. GM did a good job of making them look impenetrable, but they're definitely not.

The count for the bulbs, for those who want to know and might want their lights to work again, is:

3mm bulbs: 9 (2 HVAC and 7 Radio)

4mm bulbs: 3 (Radio)

4.7mm bulbs: 6 (HVAC)

I'm not too interested in going LED on this part of my vehicle, I like the stock look really well actually. I ordered the correct bulbs (14V, not 12 like can be found in the 3mm at RadioShack) from an automotive cluster parts supplier on ebay.

It all gets put back together tomorrow so I can have a radio and some heater controls til the bulbs arrive, but next weekend the soldering shall commence!

How do you get the ac temp lever black pieces off without damaging them?

As far as I knew you just pull them straight off.

Yes, they pull straight off, but it's not all that simple usually. Mine were on there pretty good, and I had to come up with a way to get them off without mangling anything. I folded up a shop rag and used it to pad the top portion of the HVAC control unit. Then I used a thin small regular screwdriver and worked it gently behind the black temp lever ends, and pried them off using the place on the unit I'd padded with the rag as my fulcrum point for prying. Worked very well, you just have to be careful not to slip and scratch up the unit or send the black piece flying across the garage.

Shortly after mine would not start, without holding the key forward by hand, it was time for a new battery. Replaced battery and works everytime.

Thanks. I didn't want to scar or butcher anything up either so I wanted to make sure. Also I have had my fair share of important piece launch and then search and rescue operations!

Reminds me of losing one of my 3" extensions last night. Ended up making me finish my job after dark, luckily I scrounged a trouble lamp out of the "workshop" side of the basement. Turned out being in the skid plate.

By the way, tools list for throttle body/spark plug combo job -

-Straight-blade screwdriver
Used to remove two air hose clamps, and help pop clip and gain a little wiggle room to remove throttle body harness, and pop the wire clip on the resonator.
-3/8" ratchet
Just my choice as that's what size most of my accessories are for, a 1/4" may be used for space savings, and when re-applying things to ensure you don't over-torque.
-Ratchet accessories
--10mm socket
Every bolt you'll remove in the job is a 10mm. 2 holding the intake resonator, 4 holding the throttle body, and 1 on each coil pack.
--5/8" spark plug socket
Standard size needed for the plugs on this engine. The plugs are kinda long, make sure you have the rubber boot in the bottom so you don't chance damaging the insulator.
--2x 3" extensions
Becomes especially important toward the back, combined with the 5/8" socket makes the top come just out of the well where you can hook a socket on.
--Universal joint
Can be useful toward the rear of the engine when changing plugs.
--9" extension
Used to reach down in the spark plug wells much more easily, also made getting the throttle body bolts by attacking them standing at the side of the engine bay easier.
-10mm combination wrench
This can be used to loosen the coil pack bolts in hard-to-reach places, particularly in the back of the engine, and for the #1 cylinder if you can't get the clips for the front wire tray to come up too far.
-Long-nose pliers
Used to pull the two fuses as May03LT suggested in the fuse box - PCM I and PCM B (refer to locations 10 and 28 on the chart, I believe)
-Can of throttle-body cleaner
I used Valvoline Carb and Throttle Body, there's plenty of brands that are suitable. Also bring some paper towels, I used Scott Blue towels to set the part on to spray and GENTLY wipe.

Optional:
-Trouble lamp
Required for me since I ended up losing sunlight, makes seeing toward the back of the engine much easier, and helpful in finding lost tools.
-Magnetic pick-up tool
We're working at the top of the motor bay, if you drop something it could land anywhere from the top down. Having one on hand just in case could save you a headache.
-Philips-head screwdriver
Either this or the straight-blade can be used to open the skid plate door if you drop something down there.

I'd have done a full write-up, but I didn't take any pictures. I can still remember all the steps though if anyone wants that info. Also my cylinder 1 coil pack bolt was loose when I cracked into the job, glad I found that before too late (still dry in there fortunately!)

My Envoy: got it put back together and got it washed. :wootwoot:

Mom's Envoy: blew up the (I think) HVAC mode actuator, air only comes out the floor or defrost vents now, no dash vents whatsoever. :hissyfit:

Sounds like what mine's been doing.

Selection: Output

Floor: Floor plus Defrost
Floor & Vent: Floor, Vent and Defrost
Vent: Vent
Floor and Defrost: Floor plus Defrost, just a little more pressure toward defrost than the floor-only selection
Defrost: Defrost only as far as I know.

Put a bottle of Techron in to try it out. At like $12-something for the 20-oz bottle, I hope it does at least a little magic! I looked down in a cylinder when I was changing plugs and noticed I had carbon building on the piston surface, so may as well run a bottle through there and see if I can't knock a little loose. If it does, great, if not, well the injectors at least got a lucky break. I'm not driving 20-25 minutes to the nearest filling station that's not a stupid Go-Mart or Marathon, and neither of them are exactly top-notch grades of fuel.

It counts as today if it was 1 am, right?

Took advantage of the really fast snowfall we got and spun up half of Morgantown playing around in the deserted and untreated streets. Woke up this morning to snow still coming down and a miracle: for the first time in several years WVU actually canceled all classes due to heavy snow! :wootwoot: Looks like the playing will have to resume later.

You'd like the streets around here. I have a photo from last night where the city plow wasn't doing diddly. At a 3-way intersection, turned only one way and didn't come back around to clear the snow from the other side, chunks up to 18 inches tall just sitting there. Kept doing that until sometime after 3am.

Now they're actually clearing it a bit (mainly by running back and forth until it's packed solid), and then everyone shovels their sidewalks and driveways back into the streets. Local yokels....

So maybe it's not RIGHT NOW, but I entered Wekfest on Saturday and I've been waiting for some pics to surface. I didn't take any since I don't have a good camera, but I'll post some that I found on Racesauce of me and my friend's cars plus a few other highlights from the show.

WEKFEST_HNL_14_107.jpg

My friend's Civic

WEKFEST_HNL_14_108.jpg

One of my other friend's lexus pearl white G37. 11" wide rims in the back, won 2nd best Infinity.

WEKFEST_HNL_14_040.jpg

Bagged Genesis that won I think 2nd best Import

WEKFEST_HNL_14_130.jpg

Wide Body SRT8 Challenger and matching Yamaha R1. The guy won 1st place best Domestic, 3rd place best Import for the bike, and I think 2nd place best Euro for his Mercedes.

WEKFEST_HNL_14_139.jpg

Sick Datsun truck that won 2nd best of the show

Yup I'm glad I don't gotta deal with the snow lol. If it makes things any better, is was pouring rain on the way there (about as bad as the weather gets here) and we had to wipe down and detail the cars in the building. I got surface scratches all over from wiping down the dirty water with a chamois >.>

Good-Pac Audio interface came in today!

Bad-yesterday, while backing out of a parking spot at Wal-Mart, a lady who was pulling into a spot, starts backing up, and we bump into each other. Little paint transfer, nothing too major. Just annoying...

Worse-she called a few minutes ago, saying her back hurts, and she's on the way to the emergency room. I shut my truck door harder than we hit, but she's "injured"
...I hate people:hopeless:

File a claim with her insurance with her at fault before she does it to you or you will have a horrible uphill battle to prove it is not your fault.

In most cases, depending of course on state, if two people back into each other bumper to bumper, they are equally at fault. Check with your insurance, cause she may be able to go after her own insurance and not touch yours. Where you have an issue is if she claims you were backing up and she was sitting still and you backed into her.

Drove my ass to school in this stupid NYC snow winter storm since 2 professors didn't cancel class. That's already 20 something for parking and 8 more dollars for being a 4x4. And my service stabalitrak came back on. Stupid sensor code again! Lmao

What, they charge you extra to park just because you have 4x4?

Today I went out, scraped all the snow and ice off the truck, and decided to not go anywhere. It is cleaned off and ready for tomorrow anyway.

Just got back from Nationwide. Lady up there told me not to stress it at all. Gave me the number for the woman to call, and said that the adjuster would deal with her bs. Hell, at the very worst, I have accident forgiveness lol
either way, it is what it is, and if she wants to be a bia about it, then let her. She'll get what's coming to her.
