Just got back from Nationwide. Lady up there told me not to stress it at all. Gave me the number for the woman to call, and said that the adjuster would deal with her bs. Hell, at the very worst, I have accident forgiveness lol
either way, it is what it is, and if she wants to be a bia about it, then let her. She'll get what's coming to her.

That's why no matter how small it is, I notify the local police and just make a matter of record report just incase.

What, they charge you extra to park just because you have 4x4?

Today I went out, scraped all the snow and ice off the truck, and decided to not go anywhere. It is cleaned off and ready for tomorrow anyway.

Yup! Most garages in Manhattan will charge extra for being an SUV

That is a croc of sh#t charging just because you have a suv. Do they charge more for a larger car?

Sedans and small cars are charged really cheap. SUV and big cars all fall under the 4x4 rule. It's stupid

"They take more space!" Yes, but if each stall is outlined as is the norm, space doesn't matter as long as the vehicle can fit within those constraints.

I can see a slight additional charge for "upkeep" since the structure would have to support more weight, but not 30% hike worth, maybe like an extra quarter.

Maybe it's part of some stupid standard about "clean cars" and some such they're trying to put out, either through their own choice or thanks to some ordinance.

The car equivalent to airlines charging large people multiple seats :rotfl:

Maybe they also charge that due to an assumption (a wrong assumption in some cases) that large cars are packing more people that could have instead driven their own vehicles there and forked over more profits. Kind of counter-intuitive to penalize carpooling though.

Edit: If it's a garage where a valet parks the vehicle, I can see where vehicles taking up more room can suffer an additional charge, but I think the charge is ridiculous and classing all SUVs under an equal rate is ridiculous. The SWB TB is a midsize, and it is a lot smaller than a Ford Expedition/Excursion (whichever of those is the huge one), which would obviously make a much larger footprint. Maybe it would be best if there was a flat base rate, say $10, and then add on like 15 cents per square foot the vehicle takes up. They can make measurements, look up dimensions on the Internet to figure it out, or develop a chart for vehicle identification and appropriate footage charges. Small cars take up little space so get to pay less, large vehicles take more and pay more directly proportional to their actual size.

Also, I found this to be an interesting read: http://www.nytix.com/Parking/articles/parkinggaragetips.html

You pay more for a spot with an SUV because they do not fit in every spot due to clearance. So instead of not charging a few models, they make it a flat SUV rate that may include CUVs. It's has nothing to do with car pooling but rather where you will park. Ever notice Compact only? The garages are milking that spot. It's freaking Manhattan!

Started up the beaSSt today and let her warm up. Love hearing that V8 purr. Then I went and renewed my plates on both vehicles and renewed my drivers license. Yes today is my birthday lol...

Can't be, the forum doesn't say it is :raspberry:

:rotfl: well played sir! It's on my FB page. Hahaha.

Happy belated Juan!

Happy Birthday Juan. Apparently I don't have ya on FB

Happy birthday again mate!

Thx guys :grouphug:

Happy Birthday.

So far today I ran the TB through a touch less car wash, had me nervous with the lights and other crap on the truck. Came through fine and didn't alter my beam aim.

Now I am sitting at the dealership waiting for them to undercoat the Avlanche. Been her for an hour, have about 2 left. So far I have seen 2 tbss, and a couple of others, and a sexy blue ZR1.

Dealerships do undercoating? My mechanic said I can pay so I can use his lift and spray my chassis myself next winter lol

I was able to negotiate in to the purchase price, the original was peeling and it had some surface rust. they said 3-3.5 hours to scale off the old undercoat, wire brush the frame, re coat and dry. Also had 2 tires worked in but they messed up ordered the tires for the 17" wheels. So I got a $400 gift card to Mr. Tire.

Just noticed this...oops. just something else to replace...

How did this happen??? Ouch is all I can say.

Also...

Happy belated Juan! I am sorry I missed out saying this.

But I had a lot of work yesterday, and then came home had to 180 at the door and go back out. My Father in Law is so going through so much hell with this Chemo.

As for what I did today to it. For the hour I had to myself, I installed XM.

I backed into some frozen snow. Shit happens. I might just glue it back together. Really not that noticeable.

Yeah I would try that before replacing. Nothing really to lose. I would consider plastic welding from the back side, but that is just me.

you could try Gorilla Tape (by the makers of Gorilla Glue) very strong black duct tape.
i used it on the inside of my daughters Saturn door when it got cracked,
also on my grill. it been on and off soo many times, some of the metal clips didn't stay on any more. :twocents:

Never thought of that. It'd help make sure my front bumper cover stayed together while I get a replacement lined up

Also need some two-sided tape for the fender covers, one side has been popped a little loose forever, now it's just a bit more loose. Any suggestion on a particular kind? 3M or something?

pretty sure GM uses 3M stuff. i've always had good luck w/ 3M products.
go w/ a proven name.

Just used 3M on the rear spoiler that holds the 3rd light blew off on the previous owner. Worked great..

Just make sure your surfaces are clean, and hit it some rubbing alcohol as a final prep.

Thanks. I know 3M isn't usually too expensive on their stuff.

Then again I do have access to glazing tape :undecided: it's a pretty strong double-side adhesive tape made of a foam-like material. When it goes on, it does not come off, and is used to seat pieces of glass into windows :rotfl: (I wouldn't really do that lol)

I know that is "what did you do today," but I like to keep a list of things going until something pushes me over the edge. I learned this from the wife. It started two weeks ago when my alternator went out and I drifted into my own driveway with 8 volts left in the battery. That was fun. If anyone wants to know, as the battery voltage drops different dash lights start coming on and blinking and to add to the anxiety, the chime starts going off. The scary part is when it all stops and you're not quite home yet and stuck behind a school bus. In the last two weeks, I replaced the alternator and starter. Did the big three cable addition and the mandatory throttle body cleaning. I also replaced both headlamp assemblies and I can see at night for the first time in a long time. The only thing that I broke during the whole thing was a clip on my grill. I consider that a win!

Just bought a moderate scanner for $100, nothing fancy but can check confirmed and pending codes and give some live data, trying to troubleshoot my recent increase in idle that's a little rough. Here's what I got.

p0410 - Confirmed - S.A.I.S. - This is probably what had the CEL come on after I changed the plugs and did the TB. Could involve my upstream O2 sensor though, too now.

p0014 - Confirmed - Camshaft Position - Oh boy! This is probably a good factor in the problem.

But at least my short-term fuel trim stays at +/-5-7 or under, long-term fuel trim is a measly -0.8%, that's not too bad :rotfl:

I was really expecting a pending or confirmed on a misfire, but that's not on there. Good thing I got the tool :rotfl: I was just gonna do the loaner at Advance, but just having one on-hand will be a lot more handy especially since this household has two other vehicles, too.

Sooooo, I guess tomorrow it's rip stuff apart and check day if the weather is at least 32 or above. If I can't figure it out or repair/replace the problem, guess that's getting done before my front bumper!

If you're even thinking about a tune from PCMofNC (it's the best mod you can do to these vehicles, just ask anyone with the tune) then hold off on fixing the SAIS system if it turns out to be the problem and have them tune the SAIS codes out when they program a PCM for you. Parts are usually expensive for the system and don't seem for some to last long, and the system can be removed easily with the addition of about $15-20 in GM parts (the block off plate for the manifold and the gasket for it) to the cost of the tune. This is the go-to thread for SAIS removal, check it out: http://gmtnation.com/f23/removing-secondary-air-injection-system-3502/

On the topic of the thread, today I took my Envoy to a gun shop and bought a holster. Not too monumental of a task, but the road getting to this particular shop is a mile of tar and chip unplowed one-lane nastiness. The Voy handled it like a champ!

For once in the last 2.5 days drove it not getting fuel for the generator.

Cool thanks man, I know the SAIS can be removed just never thought of it, I believe I've also read that a bad upstream O2 sensor may cause this code? It hovered between 0.2 and 0.9v warmed up, can't get an exact figure on the pulse rate.

And as for the p0014.... just glad I have this site to reference, if it's the actuator I'm out $40 or so from GMPartsDirect, instead of whatever a shop would want. And I could see it now, "Oh you see this part actually goes INSIDE the motor so it's going to be $xxx labor," nice try, yes it goes inside but is installed from the outside.

And tell me about them roads man, it's easier to play dodge the non-potholed spots right now.

On topic: planning out my method for repair/replace on the two DTCs I had earlier, and looking up prices.
