Talked a buddy of mine through changing spark plugs on his mom's EXT. 130K on the clock, original plugs  Lots of DTCs, multiple random misfire, idle lower than expected, 02 sensor problems, evaporative emissions control valve something or other... Found some oil in plug wells 4 and 5, so tightened up the valve cover bolts a bit. Little bit of a scare on the first startup, as it idled rough and stalled. But it was fine after that.

As for mine, ran some sea foam through the brake booster, and gas tank during a fill up. I had done this last summer, and didn't have much come out before, but this time I had a nice smoke show for about 15 minutes.

For the hell of it, I decided to run a quick scan on Torque, and this popped up

Guess I'll be getting some spark plugs to keep handy myself, as I'm right around 90K so just about due. Hopefully that's all it is, and not the coil packs

Two friends of mine started a detailing business so I had my truck done today. Wash, clay bar treatment and two coats of wax....

(First time ever my truck has been clay barred.)

Researching the DIY - DIC Button Install. Can anyone help me with the type of switch I need to do this? I Want something that is right but has a button that is lighted with low amount of light so I can put my custom made DIC symbols on them.

You need a momentary push button. There are those that are lighted, just have to find one with a large enough button face to fit your symbols. Most will have a NO and NC option using the pins on the back, so you can choose which way they are setup :twocents:

Something like this perhaps

Yeah a that looks good but maybe a low-profile style. I am going to take a look at that one.

Yeah I wanted the low profile ones for my DIC setup too, but didn't see any in my quick search that had a fully lighted face. But you got the idea, and now you can let your mod bug run with it

I know I said I wanted the full lighted face. But saw this one. Would it work for the DIC buttons if I got four?

Yup. Similar to the ones I got. I would have prefered yours, but they weren't available when I was doing my build.

I drove about 270 miles between Friday and today. Filled the tank, only got 16.5 mpg  I'm sure the windy conditions recently haven't helped at highway speeds, but I have noticed that the truck keeps unlocking the torque converter at highway speeds in order to keep the speed up on even relatively small inclines. Just feels like it is down on power/torque down lower on the RPM range. Not really sure why. The grunt just seems lacking.

The truck does have 189k miles on it. I wonder if it just needs a good seafoaming to clean it out. Or, does the CPAS have anything to do with low end grunt? It is original also. Not sure how to really test it. Then I wonder if maybe the cat is getting old and if a partial blockage would cause low end power loss but still rev and feel OK otherwise. Hmm.

Given you just seafoamed it I wouldn't worry much. I wouldn't be surprised if it was caused by that.

I sure hope so. Hopefully I can pick up a bit better mileage on my commute as a result after I change my oil tomorrow too. Just have to wait and see.

When I seafoamed my old car it set the SES light for misfire conditions. Cleared itself up after the smoke show.

Yep, all was fine after changing my oil and filter this morning.

:offtopic: Got some compliments on my headlights in the AZ parking lot when I recycled the old oil.

Been fighting this for a couple of months now. Think I found the problem, I think my exhaust manifold bolts are loose. Thing sounds like a powerstroke in the morning and I have a hint of fuel smell in the truck. Wont be able to tackle that until this weekend though. I have however noticed about a 2.5 mpg increase after switching back to the stock intake and resonator. Truck also feels like it has more power down low.

Also I should do a seafoam job some time, its been awhile.

Hm, I know something is loose/leaking because it does sound diesel-ish when cold. Has for a while but everything else seemed OK, so I never worried much about it. The manifold isn't cracked, at least on the visible side of it (surprising I know), so I am guessing it is a loose or broken manifold bolt and that isn't something I have really wanted to tackle unless I had to :lipsrsealed: Maybe when I do the brakes this weekend I'll check them out and seafoam it. It also has an exhaust leak before the muffler somewhere but not sure where. I'm guessing a crack or rusted hole in the pipe.

I suppose part of the mpg decrease last tank could have been caused by winter fuel and also the high winds. Still certain the downshifting didn't help as this trip should have gotten me closer to 20mpg!

I still have the stock intake. Never bothered messing with it.

Oh I like the looks of that. Controlled by the PCM or is it standalone? Got a link?

Mine is controlled by the ECM... two leads control it, ground one for low, ground both for hi
if you had 2 temp switches, say one for 190 one for 210 you could control it standalone.

also modded my fan tables for "winter" weather to have the low speed stay on longer.

Took about a 2mpg hit overall on first full tank of winter gas. But that also included extended idling too so it may be a little liberal of a loss. Usually see about 2.5mpg loss in city and 1-2 highway.

I wonder how labor intensive the job is because they have half the dash blown apart almost to the point of removing it...

Installed new tail lights and flasher relay for leds. Got rid of my eurolights, big difference. Only one downside for me, the amber leds doesn't look amber due to the red lens. Turn indicators here shall be amber.

Did the turn indicator/signals come in amber as stock on your Trailblazer? Don't think I have ever seen amber rear signals on a GMT360.

Installed the Hella 550 fogs, they provide a good amount of light and have a nice cutoff. Also ordered some 500ff driving lights that I need to figure out how to mount. Nice upswing in temps was good motivation, rain sucked though. Will post pics later.

Also fixed the free floating projector in my headlight. Had to cutoff the stem for the adjustment nut and zip tied it I n place. Still adjustable and stays in place. Now just waiting to pick up my new UCAs so I x an stop the squeeking.

Off from school this week, so I finally got around to fixing the broken console lid.

Before:

After:

Welded it with a soldering gun after I got the pieces snapped together in the correct places, not the prettiest job but it's stout. Welded the cracks on both sides. Also cut and fit some styrofoam blocks and sandwiched them in there during reassembly for extra support.

Yeah it is. Is the whole outer lens always that red color? Wonder if anyone has done this mod stateside with body color outline?

I guess if you are flying down a stretch of road and you see a light, brake or blinker at that speed is nice to know ASAP :rotfl:

Yeah it's that red/brown color on all Swedish sold models as far as I know.
