Ordered the Sonnax 4th Gear Apply Super Hold Servo for the ole girl. Need to increase 4th gear holding power due to it's age and the fact it's a slower engagement now compared to the 2-3 with the vette servo. Should have done this at the same time as the vette servo.

1) Temporarily swapped my drivers side running board for one I scavenged recently from an '02 XL. I had broken some of the plastic clips this past winter while kicking off the massive ice chunks that built up on them, and it was driving me insane with its flapping around in the wind. I guess the 2-piece versions they had in '02 are slightly different than the one-piece version that came on mine, so it doesn't match the pass side perfectly, but I plan on repairing the original by bonding it with window urethane and then I'll put it back on. Already have a buyer for the '02 version when I get it done.

2) Managed to re-secure my muffler heat shield back in place. The shield had rusted just around the edges of the washers used to hold it in place and it had fallen down and was also vibrating on top of the muffler & driving me crazy. Had to use an oversize washer & some 10mm nuts borrowed from the running board supports - put those in place on top of the original nuts which were so rusted I coouldn't get them off - that'll work till I get back from my trip and figure iut how to do it right

3) Pulled my new rear calipers and rotors a 2nd time, and perfected the adjustment of the e-brake. With the rear axle in the air and up on jackstands, and after quadruple checking that I wasn't in 4WD, I was able to start it and put it in gear in idle. Then by watching which wheel was spinning more, I iteratively adjusted shoe actuators until wheelspin was approx equal on both sides with no e-brake applied, and both would begin to slow with 2 ratchet clicks of the brake handle. Not necessarily a recommended procedure, just what I did.

4) Started prepping for a 10-day trip into no-man's land at a dark sky site to do some astrophotography culminating at the peak of the Perseid meteor shower. Added 2 more cross bars to the roof rack, cleaned about 200lbs of general accumulated junk out, and gave the front row leather some much needed love.

Soooooo nice to be getting back towards the smooth, silent, clean ride I fell in love with a year ago :biggrin:

Sanded down and repainted the crossbar in my grill yesterday. Hopefully the paint will stick better this time. Today I'm thinking about adding an additional 12v socket right behind the passenger side cupholder since using the one that is already there renders the cupholder useless.

Where exactly are you talking about for placement? I'm gonna put one on the inside of the console, under the switch panel. Absolutely hate wires laying around plus no ruby able to use the cupholder  great job gm

Today/yesterday I decided to do a much needed wash. Last night I washed and clay bared. This morning I did a restoring compound on several parts and then waxed.

Went for a 3 hour drive today to test out my new cat,
Its a deeper tone but not to droney but its very pick up and go and sounds a lot more throaty
Plus my idle doesnt fluctuate anymore when in park and giving it gas
And my shifts are smoother and dont feel forced anymore (i dont know if that has anything to do with the cat and strain on the engine from a clogged cat but i didnt get one hard shift all day)

Edit: caught myself going over the speed limit by accident multiple times today so it definitly restored hp

The owner of the shop thats been doing superchargers and exhausts for 25 years told me to put 1oz of acetone per 10 litres of fuel once every month because it cleans the injectors and gives fuel exonomy and hp up to a 20% boost
Im just scared it'll destroy my lines and seals but he said 45 years of driving and his cars have never had problems

realized replacing the cat also fixed my problem of my engine running really rough when the a/c was on :raspberry:
But i've only been getting 4.2km/L instead of my normal 6km/L but the range increased to 517kms per tank
Dont get it....

You should unplug your battery negative wire over night and let it sit. This will allow the PCM to relearn the new conditions without the cats, your O2 sensor is probably freaking out right now unless it was turned off with the tune.

Could i just unplug the pcm fuses? And i replaced the cat with a highflow, i didnt totally get rid of them
But yea i was worried i would have to replace the o2s after

Not sure about the PCM fuses, most people just recommend disconnecting the negative battery cable over night. That lets everything reset, but you're going to have to reset your deck too if you have an aftermarket.

Just pulling the fuses for 20 minutes or so will do it.

Just now saw this, this is roughly where i plan to put it. There is room between the edge and where the e brake overlaps.

Washed and waxed the TB and her Mazda before breakfast. Found out the coolant smell was coming from lower radiator hose  It wasn't dripping anywhere, just a slow smear like run. Going for a drive to make sure its nothing after resetting clamp and hose. Also, one day closer to removing the resonator.

Blending in and being quiet are good ways to not attract attention, especially when traveling. Had I wanted exhaust, I should've had a V8 :raspberry:

Very true. Not many good options for the I6 other than hacking off the res.

Replacing the fuel pump due to corroded nipples.....:eyebrowhuh: After I pulled the pump I was hoping I could reuse the retaining ring.

Since I don't want to replace the pump again unless it fails, maybe we can slow the corrosion this time.

After I hit it with the wire wheel too much material was flaking off and I didn't want to lose any sealing force from lack of material so I was fortunate there was one local dealer with one ring left.

Unfortunately I needed to supply my own jar.....I figured maybe $10...

Hondabond doesn't spread easily but I think I have this pump licked.... I don't want to chance anything.

Kids almost learned a new swear word when I dropped the pump in the tank to hear it hit bottom... and remain a good inch above the top. :explode:

I went back and remeasured against the old pump......borderline rage since it's was already in fuel...no returning it.......then I noticed the springs.

I should have hydrated earlier...The thoughts I had when I turned the key and the fuel pump didn't energize were that of alcohol, then I realized I still had relay #41 out.

But it lives, all is good.

All this was done in one week , rear tire mount was created using rear swivel accessory mount&CURT Reese hitch spare tire carrier. PCM was tuned in person by PCMofNC during a road tuning by the tech/mechanic. absolutely the best investment yet!!!! Loving every pedal press since!!!

There is more of a tone change and not a volume change with the can removed. You wont be noticed as having exhaust, more likely is anyone might just say the rear end looks cleaner.
