Got my grille about 90% done. Still have some minor trimming and filing to do, but I'm happy with it so far:

The grille looks great. I have been on the fence about buying that sytle grille. Be sure to post some pics once your done!

Yea my hids flicker and sometimes only one comes on during the day and it bothers me but it looks amazing when they do work so its a 50/50 thing for me if i like it running 100%

I had the same issue during the day and also at night when I would hit the unlock on the key fob. Capacitor mod will take care of that issue by providing 100% power and you still keep the DRLs.

it is the easiest/cheapest mod to do to your ride. Although it's a bit more difficult if you have an XL (have to remove the seat)

here's the walkthrough. Easy as pie.

DRL Capacitor Mod - Chevy TrailBlazer, TrailBlazer SS and GMC Envoy Forum

Yea i saved that to my favorites last night and drove all morning looking for a capacitor with no luck lolll
I decided to pop into a stereo shop a block away from my house as a last resort... and Found it! :raspberry:

Just take the whole plastic pillar off. Will be black under them. My wife(voymom) and I did this to hers.

Cut out the slats in the bumper where the foglights would be and put mesh in behind. Then drove her to take my son fishing for his first time. He is 3 and he caught his first two fish, which was more than anyone else in our family that was there!
Heyyy that truck looks familiar :raspberry:

I remember going fishing with my pops and grandfather as a kid. Nothing quite like those days...I don't remember having a spiderman fishing pole, though  lol

I was thinking of making them chrome too... something to add a bit of pop to the front end...

Speaking of which, I need for you to paint my calipers... I was thinking of a glossy black as that would match the tinted windows...
What'cha think??

Just polish them....I did my rear calipers last week just before heading to Nats this past weekend

i finally got around to replacing the front shocks and front stabilizer end links that were rattlling around yesterday. also debadged the back end of the envoy xl, gmc and the dealer decal. i also tried that turtle wax back to black for the running boards, back tailgate plastic, luggage rack and side mirrors. that stuff really works good. all the oxidized plastic is back to black.

looks like my first few attempts at soldering  lol it gets easier, quite quickly...trust me
just make sure you're heating the wire/components and THEN adding solder, not the other way around (as I was at first :frown:)

That would be a killer contrast with the chrome rims she's sporting now... I like it!!!

How'd you do that?? (I know that's a n00bish question...)
And more importantly, what kind of time are you looking at per caliper? :undecided:

I have a year of experience with bmws and 500hrs experience with ttc fleet vehicles and armoured money trucks though :raspberry:

I washed the trailblazer and detailed the interior a bit today. Found a bunch of inperfections in the clear coat. From what it appears a bunch of lil areas started breaking down so when you look close at certain areas it looks like a bunch of whitish circles...Def not happy about that...hoping its possibly water spots from the one car wash i used...I had gone through a touchless wash earlier and noticed it left some dirt behind so i went to another wash that has coin op..im thinking the water quality is a bit different..hoping so anyway... but most likely this summer im going to buff and claybar the paint to get looking as good as possible.

The previous owner of my SS was rear-ended. So the back bumper has been repainted and I started to get those circles. Now they're peeling.

Depends where you wanna do it, if its at my building i can cover the jack and stands, tape and newpaper. Just buy the caliper color you want. Unless you want red or satin black cause i have those lol

what is it just poor quality clear coat? Just would like to know what im dealing with. If thats the case i can start saving up now and get the clear redone on the entire truck or at least the affected panels in the next year or so. But for now claybar and buff it to make it at least somewhat even and see if i can at least blend the areas in. Honestly the hood is the worst affected area so if there were cowl hoods available for these trucks now would be a great time to make the switch.

I was completely stopped and got hit by a benz doing 30mph and he hit the trailer hitch and scraped some paint and due to my insurance rates decided to let it go seeing that there was no paint damage...fast forward 2 years and I have the same thing happening that you do :banghead: I should have filed a claim haha

Im starting to get the feeling that its gms craptastic clearcoat problems cropping up again lol. I remember they had problems with this in the 90s as well.

I just had another random thought on this...since all the affected areas are all upper body i am seriously considering going two tone like Harmless's truck except using vinyl. What got me thinking about it is the fact i want to eventually get the front edge of the hood vinyl wrapped with clear 3m wrap to protect it from rock chips...i just started thinking a bit further down that train of thought...

Similar to this TBSS...im pretty sure Harmless is done very similar since it was brought up by hardtrailz in the same thread on the forum i seen this truck on...

 cool was hoping that no one thought it was a bad idea. I just got thinking about it since all the affected areas are all above the bodyline that divides the two colors. I know theres another member on here who is building a Trailblazer RS using SS parts on an LS like mine. I have kicked around the idea of an SS grille a few times as well. But i think i will eventually go hunting for a real TBSS to go with my LS.

Installed new shift knob. Might shorten it a little, but will leave it as is for now to get the feel for it. I hope tomorrow to install my clear mirror signals.

yes but we mutually decided to leave the scene. my voy with a scraped trailer hitch, him with a smashed grill, no headlights, and a shattered bumper. I couldnt file a claim because my insurance would have dropped me :/ crappy insurance huh!? I got hit by a deer and my rates went up almost double before this happened.

I have no preference in regards to location, but if you have everything you need at your place, then it only makes sense for me to come to you...

In terms of the paint, I'm looking at a glossy black - that should be a nice contrast... :wootwoot:

That being said, how much time do you think you'll need?

Good news! I just ran the tb through a touchless car wash that my boss uses and it looks like those spots I seen earlier may have been hard water stains not damaged clear coat

I did them on the truck using a die grinder with sandpaper flap wheel first to remove the casting lines and the rough texture. Then a course polishing wheel with black compound followed by a soft floppy polishing wheel with white compound. Plan on spending an hour per corner. You can also keep just one bolt in the caliper to allow tilting outward to get at the end of the caliper. The brackets I actually removed and media blasted them and then hit them a little with the coarse compound wheel. Harbor Freight has a kit of the wheels and compounds and the air grinder-all for maybe $25 or less. It takes a light touch with the flap wheel and constant moving around back and forth to keep it even. I also used an angle grinder with flap wheel to do some of the sanding but that really takes a light touch. 80 grit and 120 grit is what I used.
