Took to my buddy's shop and confirmed the PS pump is leaking....so imagine that, I actually had front pinion seal, engine rear main, power steering pump and coolant all leaking at the same time...oh and the water from the AC evap too just to make things hard to track down. Pinion seal done (new), coolant leak done (clamp), rear main (new rear main seal and rear engine cover due to porosity). New PS Pump next week, not a Fenco. I hope I'm leakless by next week...

thanks for the help

Hmmm, what to do, what to do...
I probably have to take it around the block real quick to better answer that for you:rotfl:

That's a badass setup. Is a real, functioning hood scoop not an option? I don't think anyone here will be TOO disappointed with whatever you decide to go with. My vote is for an off to the side intake tho.

You're going to get lower IAT's if you drop it down into the lower section of the bumper, by the fogs. A lot of people (myself included) run fenderwell intakes, the guys that actually have gauges and such said it can bring IAT's down by 20+ degrees sometimes. They do have the brake vent right where the filter goes for cool air to go straight in though.

Finnished the fuel spending unit replacement today. The Delphi one in roughly 16 months wore the little fingers off that make the contact to send where the fuel level is. We are not talking a lot of miles . What a piece of design sh#t. The engineer who designed that should be shot and sent to the Russia front. It should last a lot longer than that. Any way the new one works and all is good.:wootwoot::wootwoot:

Had the upper, lower ball joints left and right installed plus outer tierods both sides.

The truck drove well before and I only had an inspection done just out of curiousity after the dealer telling me the joints and tierods were shot - well for once they were accurate.

The service guy installed Dana Spicer Pro Grade joints and tierod - $800.00 for parts and come with a lifetime warranty - they had better because it was about 60% more than Moog - they don't like Moog because of too many warranty claims - so I take his word for it.

In the meantime the truck has never tracked as well on city and highway speeds.

Service guy figures the joint failures may be due to the 1-1/2" spacers - but I tell him many of our members without spacers are regularly replacing them at around the 50,000 mile mark - mine made it to 67,700 miles (108000 Km).

Next process is to replace the Goodwear Wrangler AT tires between now and the fall - finally decided I'm not going to do offroading I'm looking at all-season tires - Tirerack rates the Firestone Destination LE2 as number one - I'll go to the tire section for advice about this.

But it sure feels nice to do something for the old gal :smile::smile:

Well with the weather finally warming up, I took an hour out of my day to change out the spark plugs! Now I am not entirely sure when the previous owner changed them, I am pretty sure it's been quite some time as I pulled out some ac-Delco 41-981's.. As I found out that they have been discontinued for quite some time now:yes: I put ac-Delco 41-103's in and fired up great and running smooth!! Anyways I have added a pic of the old plugs.. I have the slightest clue on most things under the hood, but I'd say them plugs are looking pretty brutal! The staining being that bad, should I be concerned or are they that bad bc they have been in for quite awhile? Also, Shout out to May03Lt for his YouTube vid! It's nice to have a visual of how things are done right:thumbsup: kudos!!

I painted my center caps to match my rims. Right now my truck and rims are dirty, but they should match nicely after a good wash.

Before

After

mms_picture_zps49ca32ce.jpg

I used the same cheap $1 a can paint I used for the rims because it's holding up good on them.

Replaced a locked fuel cap. Not sure if it was leaking, but the locking mechanism in my fuel cap broke, so it would "lock" but a firm CCW turn would allow you to remove it without a key, making the lock worthless. Replaced it with another Stant.

What does a Concealed Carry Weapon have to do with your gas cap

So true! I went with the IPCW Bermuda Black 3rd brake light. Found a deal on Amazon.com for about $115.00. I know its more than the Spec-D, but I figured it would match my IPCW Bermuda Black tail lights.

Big :thankyou: to Blckshdw! If it was not for his write-up, I would have never known you could swap out the TB 3rd brake light with one for the Avalanche!

Looks good

Ya, it costs (a lot) more than the Spec-D, but IMO it looks better (you get REAL black) without the need to take it apart and paint.

Thanks! It took me a while to find it searching around the internet. Every picture I could find was just of the brake light itself, never installed. Amazon.com was the cheapest place I could find it. Every where else wanted $35 to $65 more.

Your tails and 3rd brake light look awesome with the night shading! Definitely go very well with the black SS!

Took a break from messing with headlights, and decided to check my cabin air filters for the hell of it. It's been 2 years since I've had them in... I thought they would be in worse shape than this considering there's always trees near where I park at home and work... Gonna replace them soon (if I don't forget about em)

I just repainted the tails and I'm about to redo the 3rd light. I won't post any pics until I'm done with the finishing touches.

Then, I have an idea for a cool mod on the factory tails. :undecided: :lightbulb: :shhh:

Finally, this sh*t happened.

Dont know how the right gauges got messed up, i wasnt working anywhere near their wiring.

At least it gives me an excuse to take apart the cluster and throw some RED lighting in there.

Stepper motors croaked. Relatively easy fix, and cheap too if you know how to work a soldering iron. Might as well do all the others while you're at it.

would 3 of them go at once without some other underlying issue?

It can/has happened to others too. When I bought my DIC cluster, I also bought a set of stepper motors off Ebay just in case. 3 of them were bad already.

I do all my driving on road also, but I'd still get a good AT tire simply for the bad weather traction. I have Destination AT tires on my truck and they have had great snow traction and wear has been awesome. They're rated for 50K but I have 57k miles on them and counting with enough tread left to easily get me through the summer and fall, which by then they'll have over 60k on them. I'll be getting a new set before winter comes.

Highway tread tires also look lame

Name of the game today was to start removing the redneck. I removed the silly side steps, the lund visor, the roof rack, the bumper lights, and a couple of confederate bumper stickers. Started trying to salvage the carpet, and decranked the torsion bars to level the front with the sagging rear leaf springs. Not bad considering I also worked on two retrofits, went food shopping, did laundry, and took a nap.

I agree they do look lame but when comparing Firestone Destination LE2, Firestone Destination AT and the Goodyear AT Silent Armor the LE2 comes out ahead in all categories. Plus more mileage warranty at a cheaper price.

Decisions, decisions - the fun of ownership  :undecided:

during my morning pmcs (pre-drive to work check) noticed my pass side low beam was out...have spare bulbs in my toolbag

so I got the grille off, headlamp popped out, old bulb out-new bulb in and everything put back in place and buttoned up just under 4 mins

my neighbor also has an 04 LS and was watching from his porch, his comment? "if I blinked, I would have missed you taking that apart"

I chuckled as I drove off to work

Painted Phantom's rims....I failed at giving him a bath since it is going to rain. I also need to clean the over spray off the tires since I didn't tape it off.
