After 182K miles....I replaced my stock fan clutch. The wind noise through the front even when it calmed down apparently was quite alot, been going on for so long I really didn't pay much attention to it...very quiet now and definately has improved throttle response.

I didn't change the water pump since I did this right after I returned home from work, if it leaks tomorrow I will say you told me so.

Night and day difference in cabin noise and acceleration, amazing how much power it draws even when it's not fully engaged. I will let the ECM reconfigure itself for a day or so and then fill up and see what, if any, MPG change there is.

1) I would have designed a 2-piece fan shroud so the top half could easily be pulled out of the way.

2) Who the bleep designed the radiator outlet to be right over the top of the shroud. :hissyfit:.......

The Suburban comes in a 2500 diesel variant although it's rare.

They have not come in a diesel variant since 2000, on the older body style.. And the even rarer version is the 1500 diesel. The 1500 is more sought after for a DD because of lower gearing and better fuel mileage.

There are some newer ones available, although they have been converted by the owners, and usually will have some dash functions that don't work. Usually the odometer. But the 6.6 is definetly an upgrade over the 6.5TD of old. Rare, But they are out there..

[EBAY]330894344192[/EBAY]

[EBAY]181107178288[/EBAY]

GM was talking about bringing out a Diesel in the 1500/2500 Tahoe/Yukon/Suburban with the 4.7 Diesel BabyMax, but it never came to fruition after the bankruptcy.

The second listing above is kinda odd with the Silverado front clip. I like the look personally.

needless to say, i have an appt setup already with a salesman tomorrow to see how much i can get for either sell or trade in for the beaSSt... :frown::frown::frown:

What you are going thru is one of the reasons I will never buy anything GM again. They don't stand behind their products, or their customers. When they do repair something, they usually repair it incorrectly. I have a similar ordeal going on with my XUV and my local dealership Johnson GMC in Brighton, CO. Completely inept service department. And will not honor the repair they did, althou they are willing to have me pay more for them to fix the problem again. I have contacted GM Customer Service, and since all dealers are privately owned and operated, they are not obligated to honor anything of any GM warranty, or workmanship.

So, after spending 7000 at the dealer, I have a truck that still has a Service 4x4 light on.

I fixed my bank1 lean code with MAF cleaner  the whole time I thought well this is just stupid i could blow on this for the same effect. Put about 30 miles on it after clear never came back it has been coming back almost instantly. We shall see.

I had this problem recently on my 5.3 XUV, turned out to be a leaking intake manifold gasket..

Well... Since we had a nice day, I decided to get one of my two Mag-Lites mounted in the truck. Rethinking the mounting placement on the front door, for the second one. These things hold the lights TIGHT. The INT panel likes to pull out and push in a bit as the light is removed or put back. Overall, very happy with the placement on this one.

Shift linkage failed me today so here she is on a tow truck.

Tomorrow is my last day with my truck as much as it hurts to let it go but I've been spending too much in maintenance for me to keep up. I'm searching for a newer model envoy but still no luck!

This is how I rationalise maitenance costs, when I have a vehicle I love... There's only a finite number of parts to replace, until she's basically new again. Even if you have to replace some of those parts a couple of times.

Except you know all that has been done to this one. If you replace it with another, you very well may have no idea what has or has not been kept up with. Someone told me that when buying a used vehicle to always assume you're buying somebody else's problem. Sometimes we luck out and that isn't the case, and sometimes that other person's "problem" was simply it reached a certain age or miles where it will need work they didn't want to do.

Unless the miles are really getting up high I'd still keep it IMO. Even then, if the chassis is in good shape it is still probably cheaper to drop a low miles engine and transmission into it vs buying an entire vehicle with the same number of miles.

Just my opinion.

BTW, shift linkage failure is usually a really easy and cheap fix - there's a plastic clip that attaches to the arm on the side of the transmission. It can wear and pop off the ball on the end.

Thanks for the opinion guys, I agree I'll be buying someone else's problem like the guy buying mine lol! Recently been getting a very loud ticking from the engine and though the flush did the trick for 3k it's back again and worse, not to mention my transmission clunking between gears. My mileage is high and commute back and forth to Bahrain daily and it's become a hassle!

Luckily my insurance covered towing and more to that I'm damn lucky this didn't happen at a traffic light lol!

I've done so much to this truck but it won't last Til summer time. I need to buy a lower mileage car which is most probably a envoy Denali if to be found!

I gotta good deal for selling @ $8,500 I say pretty good for its model and mileage.

I like that camo maglite!

It was a freebie... got it for ordering at least $500 in shipping supplies for work. Also, I actually have two of them. The first time I got one, I got a pair of mechanix gloves too, because we ordered at least $800 of supplies.

Changed the oil in the Silverado and topped off windshield washer fluid in both the Silverado & Voy. Right after I picked up the extra quart of oil (http://gmtnation.com/f18/argh-need-one-quart-amsoil-7001/) and got in the truck my boss calls and I end spending an hour on the phone with him so my morning schedule is shot.

I installed my massive upper and lower control arms and panhard bar. Taking a break, then making final adjustments in awhile.

Quick vid of how everything looks. Vent covers and plasti dipped dash accents.

Also, in case you were wondering, the center vents are a pain in the :lipsrsealed: to remove.

Looks good man, I was just reading Groundshock's build thread talking about painting the interior, I've been thinking about it myself for a while.
Plasti-dip would be safer, but the lifespan is less than what I'd like :frown:

This was yesterday, but forgot to post...

Removed my wiper arms and cowl...

IMAG0557_zpsd4d52041.jpg

Cuz my wiper arms had a little bit of surface rust on em...

IMAG0558_zps05d13289.jpg

Cleaned em up a bit, and gave em a couple coats of gloss black.

IMAG0559_zps73ceed64.jpg

Sprayed the cowl for good measure, and now it matches all the other trim pieces that I painted last winter.

IMAG0560_zpsa9e0b12c.jpg

Special :thankyou: to JimmyJam for the slide hammer. Couldn't get those suckers off for the life of me.

dropped the t-blzr off at the dealer for some much needed (meaning overdue) services...hoping there isn't much more than the following

-oil/filter change
-trans/filter service
-diffs/transfer case service
-new upper control arms
-alignment

before anyone says or asks...I don't have the proper tools or space to do this kind of stuff...just need to get this done prior to my road trip next month

will do the throttle body myself (since I did this before) on the weekend

Pulled all the emergency lights out of my TB, then decided I am going to get the motor fixed. So my next post will probably be......put all the emergency lights back in my truck, LOL

the beaSSt was transferred from the dealership she was at, to the original one that did all the motor swaps to her... tranny, flex plate, converter, and pump were all fine... so this service dept. got ahold of GMPP and I had a meeting with them (GMPP), GM, and Dahmer today about what the future plans are... the Dahmer adjuster already came out and assessed the situation and now the argument is a brand new crate motor (50k mile warranty), or yet another reman motor (25k mile warranty)... here's the catch... we all denied another motor from this company... but... turns out GM ONLY deals with this company for motors... so i'm kind of SOL... more phone calls to come tomorrow.. so we'll see how this pans out...

Had to take my TB to the dealership. When traveling in the snow this morning from Altoona to Pittsburgh PA got about 10 miles away and lost 4th gear about 2 miles after lost 3rd. Called my dealer in Altoona And they told me to take it to a Pittsburgh dealership. So after my wife's Dr. apt I put at 45 @ 3,000 rpm to the Pittsburgh dealership. It being a Jasper transmission only 16,000 miles and About a year old my dealership faxed all the info to Pittsburgh. Jasper called me and told me that They would not cover a rental car, and since it wasn't the dealer that installed it they would have to send someone to Pittsburgh in about 2 weeks to go over it. And to top it off the Pittsburgh dealership charges $74.00 an hour labor so Jasper would have only paid the $50.00 per hour to them making me responsible for the rest. So I asked the Jasper rep can I just drive it back home to my dealership in Altoona. They guy said it fine so I had to drive it 2nd gear for almost 100 miles. Luckily allot of the trip is downhill to get back home. My local dealership gave me a rental so I'm happy I won't have to walk to work until she gets fixed.

I have the exact opposite problem in my saturn. The driver side sprays like normal, the passenger side shoots out like a damn fire hose.

Good luck to you... This is just an on going nightmare of incompetence that GM loves to put it's customers through so that they will take there problems away. Stick with it and may be you will get the truck fixed right.
