Got an early birthday present from the wife of a tint job on the previously clear windows. Also put on some oem running boards a few days ago. Mostly to help the kids get in and out. Will probably take them off when they get taller.

Go for the 5.3 ext!

That doesn't really solve our issues though. Sure it provides for more seats, but at the cost of baggage space. We need something large enough for a family of 6 and all the baggage needed. We travel a lot and need space and comfort in a vehicle.

I have pretty much decided to buy a Suburban, just waiting for taxes to be finished so I proof of income

I have never seen an access system like that. Very interesting.

Drove it to work today... Why is that out of the ordinary? It felt sluggish under acceleration at times and hiccupped on occasion when letting off the accelerator to coast, like there was a trailer on it, and the trailer brake engaged. CEL blinked (at least that I saw) twice during my 15 mile commute. No codes, stored or pending. Biggest kicker, Scangauge said I got 12.4 MPG this morning, no school today so the 2 school zones I pass through were free flowing, and less traffic than normal everywhere else on the road. I usually clock in at 15 and change :frown:

:undecided: Only recent change to anything was going from a hollowed out air filter box, temporarily back to the stock one, yesterday. Well that, and the time change...

how is that possible? its the smoothest running tb i've ever seen! :lipsrsealed: sounds like someone put sugar in your gas tank. or you knocked a wire loose when you were fiddling

 Well there's no wiring by the air filter cover to knock loose, besides where I ran my grounds for an HID harness and one of the 194 switchback polarity switchers. The fuse box cover comes straight up. I didn't disconnect the battery or unplug any of the PCM fuses to relearn/account for any reduced airflow, although it's been posted that a hollowed out airbox doesn't help besides sound... I guess we'll see how it runs on the way home. Hopefully 1 drive cycle was all it needed to adjust.

I would be pissed if someone put sugar in my gas tank, I JUST filled up the other day too!:hissyfit:

Done sanding on my end

Cleaned it up a little bit more after this pic, filled in the low spots and feathered the edges.

Not perfect, but I got it as close as I could. I'll let the body shop finish up the last little bit before they spray it. Dropping it off tomorrow.

Yup, there was even a 3500 Dully, I've seen 1 in my life a late 95 maybe. But I have seen a few 2500's. Used to see the Seals driving them over on Dam Neck all the time and Oceana.

Noticed my left tail light looked a bit odd. It has moisture on the inside of the lens and the chrome reflector for the reverse light is almost totally gone! :frown: Thankfully the chrome around the LEDs is still intact, but not sure where it is leaking from right now. This sucks.

I used Valvoline Plio Grip Finishing Cream which is a plastic filler, similar to the SEM one that jimmyjam linked. Don't use bondo, it's not meant to flex and most likely will crack.

Went down to the body shop today for an estimate, and they said it's going to take them 8.5 hrs of labor to finish up my work, prime it, wet sand, etc. Quoted me nearly $800 to spray it including labor. Decided I'm just going to prime it and wet sand myself to save me some cash. 8.5 hrs seems a little excessive to me, but idk. I told them I'm ok with it not being 100% perfect,

Going to just spend another week or so working on it to save some cash.

now why can i relate to this?? :rotfl: as everyone tells me... i hope it all works out for you man... but i definitely know what you are going through...

as for what i did... besides damn near breaking my hand punching a wall out of frustration... i called the dealership today because they didnt call me after they talked to GMPP and Dahmer Thursday last week (3/7)... so i get transfered to the service dept and i ask to talk to my regular advisor (he's known me since i was 16 and is a family friend) that I've been dealing with... and i just casually talk to him and ask "hey bro, i havent heard anything since thursday of last week... just wanted to see where we stand with my truck..." he replies with "let me put you on hold and talk to the service manager", so i hold... and here's where i get PISSED OFF ... he returns and states to me "Yea Juan, we talked to GM (or at least the guy thats been working on my case since the beginning last year) and you need to come pick the truck up tomorrow morning... just drive it for 1500 to 2000 miles and see if the vibration goes away... if things get worse or you totally break down, then we'll have a better case to present to GM and GMPP and get things taken care of for you..., but as for now, we're not going to do anything"

just like i had to sit back and pause for a minute... i'll let you all think about what i just typed :hissyfit:

i CANNOT believe what just happened here... they told me this exact statement on the last motor that was obviously bad because i got the 3rd one... and after 2 dealerships, 5 techs, and a GMPP rep ALL SAYING there is something definitely wrong with this new motor i have, they still tell me to drive it to see if it gets better or worse... if i had the money, this would be a no brainer, and i would just strip the bitch down and build the motor like it was meant to be built (forged, heads, cam, etc...)... so for now, i dont have a choice.. i just go get her and drive her...

needless to say, i have an appt setup already with a salesman tomorrow to see how much i can get for either sell or trade in for the beaSSt... :frown::frown::frown:

Did some unmodding to go through delaware inspection today.

Put the low beams back to halogens so those dufuses don't try to kick knowledge when the lows are super bright white and the highs are yellow.

Also pulled the fog relay so they can't fail me for 6 beam.

If you still have the stock ones on, go out there now with a wirebrush and a can of PB-Blaster, and give them a good soaking. If they were anything like mine, they'll be ugly. I ended up having to sawz-all three of the connections on the front two off.

Took the trucks out for a wash...Phantom had his first bath since being painted and it felt awesome not to have to deal with the peeling clear coat, he is nice and shiny!! And no....I didn't use any of the brushes, just the power washer.

You know what works great for that? Lanolin based hand cleaner, like D&L or GOJO but,not the kind with pumice in it.Just spead it on thick and let it sit overnite,it won't hurt the paint and you can easily remove the goo with a rag.Just give it time to work and it might take two applications. This works great when some idiot puts a price sticker on the plastic lens of a gauge :hissyfit:...Mike.
