Worked on my custom under cabinet LED lights tonight. Soldered up the strips, mounted them in the channels, and mounted two of the strips. Not sure the exact routing of the wires for the others yet, and there was stuff in the way, so the others are still sitting on my work table. They are 2835 LEDs in 5000k color, not to be confused with 3528 LEDs.
Compared to the old 5050 6000k LED strip I had stuck to the underside of the cabinet...
These new ones are brighter, a cleaner white and far more uniform, plus the diffuser softens the light a fair bit and helps mitigate the spotty look. The old 5050 strip had some variation in brightness between the 3 chip sections, and then over time that just got a lot worse. When I took them down almost all the chips had dark spots on them, so apparently they were cooking. Hopefully the aluminum channel acts as a heatsink on the new strips to extend their lifespan.
I'll get some action shots when I have them hooked up.
