Hello all. Started talking to a few local fire departments about being a volunteer firefighter. Would love to be able to do it, but I'm afraid it would be too much on my plate though being a full time college student.

If you can make it work it might be a step in the direction to help with full time if you want. Not saying volunteer would help with full time but you never no. Been full time with Toronto for 22 years and still think it is a great job. With our shift work 24hrs it beats the private sector for time off and still average a 42 hr work week. Down side is the long term health risk (cancers) that you have a higher chance of getting. With the risks I still like it though
