Blckshdw, had any time to play around with your MK light bars? Are they as great as they seem?
Not yet, outside of the initial fire up tests to make sure they worked. It was middle of the afternoon, so the kitchen was well lit from the sun, and they were still bright as :lipsrsealed:

I'm in the middle of moving now, so the crib is a hot mess. The plan is to have everything moved by mid day Saturday. Haven't paid any attention to the street light setup in the new neighborhood, but I am the last house at the end of the street, there's a pond, and a fence, so could be a good photo op for the bars after sundown. :undecided:

I just tried going with LED like that on my dark basement stairway and it sucked honestly. Went back to the CFL cause it was twice the light output. It is just a single bulb in the wall above the steps going down, so maybe using them aimed down or something would do better.

I swear, I'm gonna start giving you warning points for taco-neck pics in this thread :nono: :raspberry:

I grabbed some CCC LED bulbs off Ebay just to try em out. Had a boatload of 5050 cool white LEDs. Definitely bright as hell, and due to the arrangement, there was good coverage everywhere. It does give the 'hospital' feel, so they are getting demoted to back hallway duty in the new crib. Will definitely be going with warm white from now on for home applications.

So my Silverado uses 212-2 bulbs in the dome lights instead of 194... Of course. I have a handful of 194 Samsung 5630 bulbs that I can't use now lol. Looked at PnP 212-2 LED bulbs but common complaints are they are too directional and leave the sides dark since the two dome fixtures are in the center. Guess this means only one thing... LED boards with adapters like I did on the cargo light in the Trailblazer

These rock.

Got one in the cargo light in the TB and one in the dome light of the Mustang. In the Mustang it, pretty evenly, lights up everything.

I'll check the dimensions to make sure they fit the housings (they should but will still double check) but that looks perfect. Exact number too. Thanks!

I think I'll upgrade the upper console with a Homelink one at the same time.

That listing is ending within the hour but there are plenty of others. Just search "5630 panel." If you find a listing you like but it doesn't include the festoon adapters then message the seller and see if they'll include them instead of one of the other adapters (done that on a set of 10 I ordered last week).

Now to figure out good placement for them....
Are those the Ultra Bright Lightz? I saw they had a sale and I was thinking of two but I want to see a review first.

I looked at the ones I was thinking of. 9 x 3 watt bulbs in a square or round enclosure. They have the sale on again.

He got the Ultra Bright Lightz brand? I'm wanting to try them, and have some credit from a really old return.

I'd suggest the eBay/Amazon brand. UBL appears to be a discount emergency lighting store. You can get the exact same ones on eBay for way cheaper:

OK - not really LED, but I need it because of doing LED mods. Carlton, feel free to move if you have to.

Need to replace the rear cargo light lens on my 06 Envoy (short wheelbase). Can anyone tell me if they are the same across the platform or do any of the siblings share the same lens / assembly? This is what mine looks like (except the two small tabs broke off.

Yes they are all the same.

Now since you posted here, there better be some pics posted later of LEDs in these dome lights, or...

Well since I have several square feet of LEDless space in the van can anyone suggest some decent quality led strips or interior light bars? More then likely will end up triggering them off of the stock dome lights if not outright replace the two dome lights in the cargo area with them.

Just get 5050 LED strips in the color of your choice, stick them to the ceiling. Should be stupid bright lol.

Tell me more about this.....never got much into LEDs as a vendor beyond your typical plug and play units.

Here are the current lights. After a friend said it, I look at them the same way - it reminds me of a KFC fryer/warmer. Ordered the blue ones a few days ago.

The last shot, lazy since I used the rearview, is of the middle and cargo area. You can see the cargo assembly hanging.

I'm really surprised none of you is hitting me up on any of this latest discussion. 5630 chips are now brighter than 5050 chips. Most strips are sold by the reel which is 5 M or 16.4 feet. 5050 is not necessarily brighter than others if you look at how many chips per reel. 3528 comes in 300 or 600 chips and let me talle you 600 is bright as hell! You can cut these strips into as little as a 3 chip segment (it has cut marks on them) and then you simply solder wire leads back on after scraping off the silicone at the end.
For the Cargo in back on our SUVs I have the 70 chip plate which is insanely bright and its plug n play for $10.
I'm now going to be doing red side firing 335 chips under the back edge of my bumper plates which can be used as running lights or 4th brake light.

Some of the adhesive tape on these strips are affected by heat and will fall down if its not a smooth glass like surface. Just an FYI...

More pics, unlit, with placement, etc. would be appreciated.

5630 are brighter, and usually the 5730 are brighter than the 5630 but are currently a lot pricier. There are a lot of sellers with IP67 or IP68 strips for cheap, too.

We've known about 5630's being bright Kev.

I once had an idea about making a fourth brake light out of some surplus 5630 strip I had and some pwm dimmers and even making it work with turn signals like the ones you can buy pre-made but never went through with it because I didn't think it would look right on an SUV under the liftgate like under the tailgate on a truck.

Has any one tried the 7014 chips yet? I'm not sure how it can be much brighter than 5630 or 5730, most likely a "space saving" type chip. COBs are pretty bright too for the interior or exterior and not very much money. And then the flexible translucent tubes in white/amber or white/red are pretty cool since they flex in any direction not just 180* plane.
