Just got a great deal on a NRA Life membership. Only $500

Yes, that 50% off (for those of you in Rio Linda)

I don't know how many here have a facebook account, but if you click "like" for the NRA they are offering $500 life memberships for a short time.

I always wanted to do this when I was younger and didn't have the extra income. I told myself, " Oh well, I can always do it later". After watching Wayne LaPierre at the UN, it convinced me to check the couch cushions for a little bit of spare coinage. (I would have used the word "change" but it seems I have no HOPE of any extra CHANGE after B. Hussain Obama took it) lol

When I checked into it the $1000 seemed tough, but for 1/2 price, I had to do it.

Here is the link:

I know it's more money in the long run, but I have a problem with telling any political org (that can be hi-jacked and steered different directions) that "anything you do for the rest of my life, I'm behind you!" So I'm going to continue to do every 3 years...

Took my 8 year old nephew shooting at my Grandparents' tree farm on Sunday.

Here he is, getting a tour of part of the property. Only had ~1/2 hour to do the tour, so he only got to see maybe 1/4 of it.

Here he is, shooting the 10/22 I built for him to shoot, as well as the Ruger MKII:

Yea,I use it. It works out pretty well, but needs to be touched up fairly often.

Mike, can it be classified as shooting if he is sitting in a chair the whole time?

When he's not strong enough to hold the rifle up for any real length of time, and not hitting anything would just frustrate him and turn him off of shooting... Yes, it is...

Took my Ruger SR22 to the range on Sunday.. I can tell you this.. That is the most accurate pistol I have ever shot. I put 403 bullets thru it in about 90 mins, and I never missed the target. Never misfired, never failed to eject.. I love that little gun!

Now me and the wife are shopping revolvers. Looking at a Ruger again, and a Chiappa Rhino 200DS..

What size groups at what range? I'll normally put 200rds in a 4" ragged hole at 15yds with my XD45C, XDm9, 1911, SW639, etc.

I've actually been thinking about one of those... Is the trigger a nice, single action trigger like the MKII, or even though the weapon appears to be a DA/SA, does it have a long DA trigger for all the shots?

Well, before I answer that, I want you to know that I am not a experienced shooter. Just started in this a few months ago.

With that said. When I was just shooting at the target, without concentrating alot, I was able to keep it in a 8 inch group. If I put my mind to it, which I did 2 times during the shooting session, I was able to keep them in 2 inch groups.

I will also say that this SR22 will be replacing my Bersa Thunder 380.. Anyone wanna buy one?

I had tried to post this info several days back, but I guess I was still in the probation mode as it never made it to the thread. For all of you 1911 lovers out there (of which I would be one), check out what the Marines have done (although I am retired USAF, the Marines have really got their heads on straight when it comes to firearms, you can actually buy them at their base exchanges...which I just did, a Sig Sauer P238). Check this out:

Sticking to their guns: Marines place $22.5M order for the Colt .45 M1911 | Fox News

A wise friend once told me - never sell guns, just buy more. Good advice I've followed since.

A friend of mine is selling his house and I'm gunsitting for him. Good time for a group picture.

I shoot my XD9 in USPSA Production, but I've been wanting to get a couple Glocks for Production and Limited. After much deliberation between the 17/22 and 34/35, I settled on the 17/22. My plan is trick out a 22 for Limited and do a little work on a 17 for Production.

I was working a gun show last weekend and saw this guy.
190831_1677206328037_877478524_o.jpg

It came with 3 mags and I could have scooped it up for $350. Problem is, the mags were all 10 rounders and the boss man didn't want to part with a used gun he could make a good margin on. He told me I could get a new 22 whenever I wanted to...so I did.

He also had a Glock Dealer shirt to give to either me or my buddy that works for him. We wear the same size and he only had the one. Decision was made to shoot for it. Next Wednesday, it'll be my (mostly) stock 22 versus the 17 he bought tricked out at 15 yards. The shirt's as good as mine.

Not really. That should be the basic package for every citizen to own. Unarmed citizens are just subjects....

Large gun collections serve no particular practical purpose. I'm a collector. I always say, "Instead of collecting stamps, I collect something cool." Firearms have always interested me and I plan on growing my collection for the rest of my life, but having an extensive collection does not correlate to any kind of preparedness.

In 1775, a militiaman in Lexington didn't crack open his personal armory to choose from a myriad of rifles. He grabbed his one rifle and was proficient in its use.

Today, just like then, every able bodied person should maintain a capable fighting weapon and know how to use it. Should the situation ever arise for whatever reason, I know which weapon I will use.

Going to pick up a S&W Sigma in the next couple weeks. Have the option of a 9mm or a .40

Really like the .40, but leaning towards the 9 to lower my shooting costs a little (already have 9mm rounds on hand for my other pistol and I am able to get bulk 9mm ammo from a guy i know:wink:).

I really don't like the Sigma's trigger! They're cheap, but there's a reason they're cheap.

They don't seem to be unreliable, but they aren't great to shoot.

And i dont mind the trigger pull. There is an updated model (not sure what it is called off the top of my head) which lightened the trigger pull considerably while keeping the same basic design. I'm not a real heavy user so i wont go out and shoot hundreds of rounds. When the fellas and I go out we will go shoot trap for a bit then hit the handgun range for a little competitive fun. I did pretty well with the sigma .40 when i went to the local gun club to check out a few different handguns.

Uncle, what's your favorite LGS? I do some work for Midwest Shooting Supply next to Sam's Club on Blairs Ferry Rd. If you're free tomorrow night at 6:30, you should come out to the Izaak Walton club on 42nd St NE. We're going to their range and taking a lot of handguns for people to demo. I'm personally bringing several of mine. I'll have Glocks and Springfields among others, but there should also be Rugers, Sigs, and FNs.

If I recall correctly, the going rate for a new Sigma is around $350 or so. The Sigma isn't necessarily a bad or unreliable gun, but if you were willing to spend about $50 more, you could get a gun that's significantly better. You can buy a new Springfield XD that comes with 2 mags and a hard case for $400. In my opinion, there's no comparison between the quality of the XD and the Sigma, but of course it's all up to you to decide if you like the XD or think it's worth the extra.

I had a Sigma .40, I didn't care for it. For $400 (or less) you could get a Kahr CW or CM 9 or 40. Either of those would be far better for a CCW. There's a few good guns in the $400 range, it just depends on your POU (philosophy of use)

Glocks are nice, but to thick!!!

Glock 26 = 1.18 in.
Kahr 9mm = 0.90 in.

It doesn't look like much in print, but it makes a big difference for IWB carry.

If you must stay in the $300 range you could get a Ruger LC9 or a Taurus 709. IMO they're good guns for the money, but I don't think they'll hold up to +p ammo as well as a Kahr.
