And a cool little story my dads birthday was this past weekend, He really worked his ass off to put us all through nice schools and gives us every opportunity possible to our lives and before with my work I bought what I could but you always want to give him "that gift" its maybe greedy to think that way but whatever. With me going on 1 year being at my new job I can afford this kind of stuff. Hes a range rat so I wanted to get something cheap to shoot would last forever. So I went up to Cabellas waited in that stupid line with tire kickers for a good hour went to the counter and saw this Ruger 10/22 right away i knew thats what I was buying its a 10/22 stainless barrel and action with an aftermarket TAC stock collapsible/folding stock 25rd mag. Got home told him "Courtesy Of The Real working man" just to be the smart ass that I am. He looked like he just saw a ghost when he saw his RUGER box ( this is his favorite gun maker ) Open it up and didnt believe i bought it for him he thought it was mine. then you could tell he almost had a little emotional moment and had to hold it off lol. Surprised him with a NIKON 22LR edition scope with burris mounts to and We will be putting both these through the paces Saturday. Just a cool story guys gotta love the memories.

And I know a Scope on a collapsible/folding makes no sense but he hates red dots haha

STLtrailbSS...love that color scheme  I've always liked that style looks kick ass.

Well after months of searching and waiting I finally was able to pick up a highpoint 995.

The local store bought it and 17 minutes later sold it to me. I luckily just happened to drop by and see if anything new came in.

Looks good and nice 10/22 STLtrailbSS

ConeKilrAutoX, do you mind telling us what you paid for the Hi-Point? I've heard the price of them has been crazy. Maybe it's getting a little better with the AWB off the table.

I know. I have seen 400-800 online auctions but you wouldnt believe it $365 CASH with 3 magazines and 3 boxes of ammo (150 rounds) because they felt bad I was on hold registering for 2 hours. (our lame PA registration process goes through the state police first so your kind of at their mercy.)

I did put my own scope on but it came with every thing else.

Couple years. Was in a store as used but had not been shot. Decent weapon. I let all kinds of people shoot it since a 9mm from a carbine is easy to handle.

nice yeah anything before the gun incidents this year were a lot cheaper :/ the guy who owned it previously just received it and then NY banned 6 of his rifles. thats how I got mine. I had to choose between the 45 and 9 veraion so I took the 9 because of the slightly cheaper ammo

Time to revive this thread.

I went to pick up a new Urbino stock for my shotgun ... and this Just Right Carbine in 9mm followed me home.

15026-jr-carbine-870-police.jpg

I haven't got a round out of it yet or even pulled the warning tags off and it now has a Hogue rifle-length overmoulded AR foregrip, EOTech holographic combat sight and a Magpul CTR stock.

The Magpul CTR stock was a 5-second drop-in fit. (For reference, JR Carbine uses a commercial-spec buffer tube.)

The Hogue AR forend took a bit more work. I had to shave about 1/16" off the front face of the forend to get the barrel nut torqued down properly, but it was a simple job. Plus, with the new forend, I don't need a barrel wrench to take the forend off anymore. Hand-tightening works just fine. (There is no gas tube on the Just Right Carbine, so it is important to torque the barrel nut down to hold the barrel firmly, and check it regularly, which is very easy to do with the Hogue forend.)

I head to the range tomorrow to dial in the sight with 147 grain 9mm rounds.

My Remington 870 Police with the 14" Dlask barrel can put 3 slugs through the same hole at 20 yards. It now has the Mesa Tactical Urbino stock. (This was Sam Jackson's favorite - mostly because a 14" barrel shotgun is perfectly legal here in Canada provided overall length is 26" or greater and provided it came from the factory at that length.)

I would never have guessed the either of those fine weapons wound be legal in Canada. I would love to have that 14" barrel (blued) for my 870

This weekend I was fortunate enough to try out some of the Springfield Armory weapons at a show. The XD compact 4" .40 cal was awesome and I was surprised how manageable the 9mm sub-compact was. The EMP 9 (sub compact 1911) was a nice size for a carry gun, but a little too finicky for my taste. My favorite was shooting the M1A1 full size and the Socom II. The Aimpoint that was on it was spot on and the bowling pins were just flipping all over the place.

Nice man. What's the pricing of those?

The shop had them on sale for $329, ended up at about $350 out the door  They also had the Ruger P95 for the same price and it had a better trigger it single action, but my wife had trouble with double action and cocking the hammer. The trigger on the S&W is about 8 pounds, so I'll lighten it up to about 5.5 pounds with a $25 spring kit.

Here's one for $300 + $25 shipping

And one in Keller, TX for the same price (I just checked that's over 4 hours from you :wowfaint:)

That looks like something to own

I like it, very accurate, easy to shoot, folds in half to store in a backpack, but.... it is known to have FTF/FTE so not my first choice in a firefight or personal defense. red dot co-witnesses the front sight blade even after being moved to fold (well, after you put it back of course)

buddy of mine was going to sell me his, with an off-brand red dot, and 3 10rd mags for $120. $300+? ouch...

There was one at a LGS/Flea Market, the guy was asking $400. It had the ATI stock, a laser, scope and tac light. I gave him a take it or leave it offer of $250
, he didn't like that so I was off to find a deal I liked (the SD9 VE) somewhere else.

My cousin brought his new AR over, Delton Sport 16" :wootwoot:
first time I've actually shot anything for precision in several months
not a bad first 3rd grouping for me  35 yards, iron sights, prone unsupported? I'll take it
she's still zero'd to him and his sight picture, but we seem to be quite close in that sense :rotfl:

I dunno, even if the gun goes off "by itself" which I understand is in contention here (CNBC says it does, Remington says it doesn't), you still have to be breaking one of the 5 fundamental safety rules in order for that to wind up being a catastrophic occurrence. I mean, there was the guy who shot his foot off because the gun supposedly "went off by itself". Why was he pointing the muzzle of his firearm at his foot? I'm not trying to excuse Remington or attack those involved, I'm trying to highlight how important it is to know and practice proper firearm handling.

These older model 700's are faulty. Mine was made in 1966 and has killed many deer. Back around 2001 I was about to walk out on the second story deck of my family's home to shoot a buck I saw about 150 yards behind the house. I decided to slip the safety off before I opened the storm door. I had the muzzle pointed down to the left. When I disengaged the safety the rifle fired through the bottom of the door, through the deck, and through my brothers camper that was stored below the deck. I was shocked. Fortunately no one was in the vicinity.

I asked around if anyone had heard of this being a known issue with these rifles and a friend told me that he thought he had heard of a recall issued by Remington. I did a little research online and found that Remington would replace a faulty trigger mechanism under warranty. I shipped the rifle to them and they repaired it free of charge.

This incident has made me more aware of where my muzzle is pointing when I engage or disengage the safety. I had used that rifle many times in the past with no issue. I'm certainly glad nothing more than property damage occurred(in my case), but the issue is apparently more widespread than Remington will admit. I could not view the entire video, so I don't know what they had to say about whether they admit fault or not, but I do know it happened to mine and that they fixed it free of charge. Seems like that would be an admission of fault to me.

Just found this thread. Nice!

I've done a lot of trap and skeet, as well as some pheasant hunting. My go-to weapon for both events is my Benelli M2 (Satin Walnut). I'm a newbie here, as well as a novice when it comes to the Trailblazer. But, I am not a newbie when it comes to my firearms.

I own multiple long guns, including several Benellis. One of them is the MR1--chambered in 5.56 NATO. She is a beast! When I was in the market several years ago, only one of the firearms dealers I patronize had her. All the others tried to talk me out of it, showing me Colts, Sigs, Bushmasters, and various AR-15 platform manufacturers. Maybe it was because I already owned a couple of Benellis (and thus familiar with the company) is why I bought her. Maybe because I wasn't trying to look like the crowd. Whatever the reason, I'm not disappointed with the purchase. Never an FTE or FTF in the countless number of rounds I've put through her. She presents faster than anything I've tried--establishing a firm, confident, cheek weld as quick as a shotgun. It doesn't matter if the barrel is hot or cold, POA is always POI. So, she sits in a strategically placed location in my home at the ready. Although, she may be getting a little jealous. That's because back in January, I bought a Browning XBolt Stainless Stalker (.300 win. mag.) and Harris bi-pod--Cabela's didn't have the scope I wanted in stock. I still haven't scoped her because now I'm leaning more towards one of the first focal plane scopes manufactured by Vortex. They are a lot more expensive than my current budget OR my wife will allow.

I also have several handguns. My carry is a G22 (gen 3). I removed the stock plastic sights, and replaced them with a Trijicon three dot setup. I also installed an internal guide-rod laser. And finally, a Hogue pistol grip. My carry ammo: Federal Premium Hydra-Shok, 155 grain.

Sorry if this post is received as a boast. It is not. I'm just an average firearms enthusiast.:wootwoot:

I love green lasers, it's soo much easier to find the person you're trying to shoot. Not the dot, the person holding the gun.

I promise my green dot will hit mili seconds before the round does.... Its not acquisition its precision! I dare someone to trace my laser back to me... Lmfao

easy enough, unless you're standing in a field in bright sunshine. handguns aren't long range weapons so the big green light saber in a fire fight with smoke etc makes it very easy to see from all directions. The one shot one kill thing rarely works out like we expect. And even if you do take someone down with a single shot, better hope hes alone.

The only reason you see green lasers in movies is because it's hard to see IR without NVG.

I have a XD45 and XDS45. The XDS i'm having issues with, havn't been able to get back out at the range to see if its fixed yet. Plus ammo is hard to come by still lol. But my XD45 has only had 1 malfunction and that was from a newbie that didn't know I already had one in the chamber, so not the guns fault. Alot of rounds through it and just asked for more.

True about the IR lasers, Either with a ACOG NV or EOTECH NV (NIGHT VISION CAP)... Anyway I've been in more than a few of fire fights and honestly have never seen a red/or green laser, but then again I was just a E5 duing my time down range.

Check out what this guys says
There are good reasons to have a laser on a handgun. I sincerely hope that you never have to use your gun to protect your life but if you do, then you will have to make split second decisions while someone is trying to kill you. In a situation like this you want any advantage you can get.

I train people on how to shoot a handgun. I almost always, at some point, use a laser sight to provide instant visual assessment of grip, trigger control, follow through, jerking, and flinching.
I can tell you that using a laser has helped many shooters to realize exactly what they are doing wrong and correcting it before it becomes a habit.
It is an excellent training tool that serves double duty in a low light or night shootout.

Lasers are not a substitute for for proper use of sights.
Lasers are not a substitute for proper trigger control.
Lasers are not a magic cure all that is right for every situation.

Lasers can be helpful in low light and night shootings.
Lasers have been shown to increase hit percentage.
Lasers are great when your aging eyes don't focus like they used to.

Anyone here who has been in combat or a police shoot out can tell you that you instinctively focus on your target in a stressful situation. (tunnel vision) That is why you train to focus on your front sight. It is not natural.

I have a laser sight on my CCW gun. I use the LaserMax guide rod laser sight. I like the fact that it doesn't affect my holster selection. It is zeroed at approximately 10 yards. at 25 yards I'm about 2 inches off. (I can deal with that)

The biggest supporters/users of laser sights are the military and law enforcement agencies. They use their firearms considerably more than most of the average gun owner ever would.

I have read reports of "bad guys" giving up when they saw the red dot on themselves. While I can't say that I have ever seen that I guess anything is possible. (They must be the same bad guys that crap their pants when they hear a shotgun racking)

If you can afford the laser sight then get it. It doesn't hurt you, as long as you don't use it a crutch for proper shooting technique, but it can be a life saver in a bad situation.
I have a laser sight and tritium night sights on my gun. If/when my life is on the line, I wouldn't have it any other way.
