Had to pick the hubby's jaw up off the floor :rotfl:

I have the XD sub compact 3" in 9mm for conceal carry and home protection....I would LOVE to get my hands on my dad's Desert Eagle .50 cal on a more permanent basis though. A bit over kill? Maybe, but it's go big or go home right?

After the third time of watching it I realized this is actually a very thorough guide and quite accurate as well.

Now, pardon me again whilst I go clean my gun for the 3rd time today. :inlove::wooot:

I wonder if she would come over for a personal dictatorial on how to properly clean my guns. Just to make sure that I am doing it properly. I am sure with her instructing me in her instructors outfit I would get it right eventually I think....:wootwoot::wootwoot:

Here's what our second ammendment is for. Courtesy of DucattiSS....Copy and paste if it doesn't link, it's well worth it....

The attached video clip is taken from a movie that was based on the situation in 1946. A search for "battle of athens, TN" in google found the complete story. Pretty interesting.
Coming soon to a town near you. You better get prepared for this.
What you see in the video is Hollywood but the event itself was real.

Little known American Historical Fact

I was completely unaware of this event that took place in Athens , TN in 1946. I did not know an armed revolt on American soil by WWII veterans ever took place during our lifetime. A very sobering video to say the least.

Now the second amendment should be a little clearer to everyone.

I agree. Especially here in America with the current threat to our second amendment rights.

from NBC 12: In Virginia

Prince Edward sheriff’s deputies are investigating a deadly home invasion that happened early Sunday morning in Prospect. Two of the three suspects are dead, shot by the homeowner in self defense, according to investigators on scene. Meanwhile, the search continues for the third suspect.

This situation began unfolding at about 4:30 a.m. in the 5000 block of Prince Edward Highway, or Route 460. Investigators told NBC12’s Kelly Avellino three unknown men forced their way in the front door of the home, where a man was alone with a 2-year-old child.

According to a press release issued by Sheriff Wesley W. Reed, that man called 911 to report a home invasion and said the suspects were armed. Reed also said gunfire was exchanged between the suspects and the caller.

Authorities said two suspects were pronounced dead at the scene, while the third managed to escape on foot.

We’re told the homeowner and the child were not harmed.

Owning a gun may have very well saved the lives of this man and his young son. Liberals claim that gun control is all about saving the lives of children. ”If it saves just one young life…” they say.

Gun control may very well have ended this 2-year-old’s life had it been in place. We can be thankful his father was able to fight back.

A story with a happy ending for the good guy.

Yeah, it's good to see. I'm sure there are many more incidents like this that don't make national headlines due to our slanted media. They don't seem to want to cast a positive light on guns. I guess they're either afraid of guns or it doesn't serve their political agenda. Maybe both.

A question comes to mind about all the gun control talk we hear from the various states. I have not heard any politician(s) say how they intend to take guns away from the criminals. They have plans to enact laws that they expect law abiding citizens to follow, but what about the bad guys with guns? Kind of leaves us good guys at a disadvantage while the bad guy, well, keeps on being a bad guy.

On a side note, I see where Florida became the first state where all Sheriff's(67 of them)confirmed that they stand united in defending our constitutional right to bear arms!

I finally got around to scoping my CZ452 Trainer a short while back. The Burris Timberline is one of the few scopes that tucks in behind the rear sight without removing it. Just need to level it and sight it in.

I should add there are a lot of scopes that will fit, but variable power with an adjustable objective narrows the list.

That list will be VERY long. You should provide more information. Like what cal. Do you like, are you a 9m shooter or .50cal? You see there are so many durable/rebilable guns that if we dont know what your looking for then your just gunna get a bunch dumped on you. Whats your price range? $300 or $3000. Are you a wheel gun or semi type? You like long guns or short? Are you a wrong handed shooter? How bout your hands, short and fat? Average or long? How experianced are you? What about cleaning, is ease of cleaning an issue for you?

Get the point? More details.....

What he said. I could go on about the 4 guns I have, but the reason I bought them might not match what you are looking for entirely. Do you want a trainer pistol like a 22LR? or 9? or 40? or 44? or 45? or 50? or 32? or?????

Also, what is the pistol going to be used for? Home Defense, CCW, OC, Range, or??

Johnny 5 needs more input!

I love the look and feel of the XDS, however out here in Commiefornia, the state has determined that I and other Californians can not own one:duh:

Why is that? It is only a 5+1 or a 7+1 with the extended mag. What feature does it have or not have that disqualifies it? No external safety or something.

I think with this weapon it is the mag disconnect safety or lack there of. That means that the gun can still fire if there is one in the chamber, even though the mag is not in the weapon.

SB 489 (Stats. 2003, ch. 500) (Scott) (2003 bill - Provisions are operative beginning 1/1/2006)

Requires that effective January 1, 2006, no semiautomatic centerfire pistol model may be added to the roster of handguns certified for sale in California unless it has a chamber load indicator or, if it has a detachable magazine, a magazine disconnect mechanism. Also effective January 1, 2006, no rimfire semiautomatic pistol that has a detachable magazine may be added to the certified list of handguns for sale in California unless it has a magazine disconnect mechanism. Handgun models that have been placed on the roster prior to the new requirements becoming operative may remain on the roster without these features (PC §§ 12126, 12130).

The funny thing is that if someone moves here with an XDS and registers it, it is good to go. If after you move here you decide to sell it to me though a private party transfer (must use an FFL dealer) then the roster list doesn't matter either.
So if you ever decide to move here and sell me your XDS, I would buy it.

Nice , I would love to shoot a XDs and if the recoil is somewhat manageable, add one to my "tool box"

How are you going to use the gun? House gun? Carry gun? What I call a tweener (OK for both, but not great at either)? In the $400 range I would look at (I haven't had most of these, but I would check them out if I was in the market, I would also look at other guns, these are just the one's off the top of my head)

House Gun:
S&W SD9/40VE
Ruger SR9/40/45
Taurus 24/7
???

Tweener:
Ruger SR9/40C
Taurus Millennium pro
SCCY CPX-2
???

CCW:
Kahr CW9/40/45
Taurus 709/740 Slim
Ruger LC9
???

Pocket gun:
Kahr CM9/40

If you want .380 (I'm not a fan)
Kahr CW380 (soon to be available)
Ruger LCP
Taurus TCP
???

To add to these..
For CCW - A Bersa Thunder 380 (about 300 bucks), it fits my hand, and my wifes, shoots well.
For Home Defense - A Steyr M9A1, M40A1, M357A1. I have the M9A1 version, this is standard police issue in many countries in the EU. I love it, low recoil, great all around pistol. I paid 350 for mine NIB from Cabellas. Not sure if they are still the same price with the gun craze. Don't care for the M357, Sig rounds can be hard to find.
Plinking/Training - Ruger SR22. I apsolutely love this pistol. Will eat any ammo fed to it. 250 bucks.
