Aarkon's Build Thread

:undecided: I always wondered what the inside of LT headlights looked like where the crossbar section was. I always assumed it was all open, and you might be able to fit more stuff in there for mods and circuitry. Guess not.

:duh: My bad Ryan, I should have told you to de-pin the 9006 connectors, so you could remove the solenoids and shields. Makes it 10x easier to tape those up for a respray.

I was going to but decided to leave them in since it wasnt bad taping them and the shrouds covered basically everything so painting these isn't a big deal all I ended up doing is removing the halo and glass

You think blacking out the turn signal reflector will affect visibility or are you installing LED strips?

Nice. I think switchback LED turn signals strips would look awesome for the main turn signal and side marker. Are you swapping out the amber lens for the side marker?

Ok quick question does anyone have a camera mounted in their truck I want to get one that only turns on and records when there is motion detected and I want a 360 degree angle anyone have a preference they have seen

I've been wanting a similar setup. For a while, I used my phone, with an elevated dash mount that I turned on when I drove. Wasn't high enough. On the OS, someone bought one of those car DVR systems, installed the box in place of where the OnStar system is, and got a pair of small CCTV cameras. Installed one by the rear view mirror, the other in the cargo section headliner.

I wanted to use 4 cameras, and put the other 2 in the cargo section angled 45 degrees towards the front for majority coverage. Would leave a couple of blind spots at the rear corners, but I'd have coverage for most of the rear that way.

Ya I was just scouting a few but I only wanted motion activated and it looks like they sell extra cameras the size of our headlight sensor and I would like to mount at least two with a full range of vision to cover most of the trucks surroundings

So apparently lt lights aren't meant to have projectors in the high beams cause there is no clearance for a shroud so now I get to figure out how get a cover on it without chopping up my bezel

Can't say I have ever seen a quad retro on TBLT headlights. What shroud are you trying to use?

The iris shroud I think im gonna have to hack it up but then im not sure how the new halo is gonna fit right

Yeah, I had to put small notches in my bezel to get the Iris shrouds to clear. Didn't need to dremel too much of it, but I dunno how much that would affect your paint job. Would suck to have to respray it.

The only problem is I cant cut my bezel cause its just a slim peice running across and I dont want it to be missing a section it wouldn't look very good im not worried about repainting thats not a problem

You wouldn't be missing anything, cuz the shrouds and halo would take up the vacant space. From the last pics, it looks like you cut the shrouds to fit behind the bezel, so how did you mount the halo?

Well thats the old one im still waiting on the new ones to come in but the old one seats right over the front of the bezel to make it look more complete so I cant wait to get all the parts in next week and finally seal these together im gonna do some more painting tomorrow at work

Got my new in home power source but the last item I needed to have my headlights done this weekend was as usual screwed up by usps so we will see if I get it on monday as they say I am beyond pissed I wanted to be done by saturday

Yep I got the one you gave me the link for can't wait to use it
It's pretty handy, especially when you want to experiment with LEDs, and don't feel like pulling resistors out.

I will say, if you have one of those movie magic, slow motion, time lapse events where you knock it and it starts to fall off your table or something, don't try to catch it by grabbing the cables. I did that a week or so ago, and while it didn't make it to the floor, now the cable connectors slip out of the tester with very little effort. :banghead: I gotta see if I can fix that.

Uh oh hopefully its fixable. I will say I was disappointed when I opened it and slid the foam off of it all 4 rubber feet came off with it so I already gotta fix mine and its never been used yet
