Put in a new battery. First the pics, then the story behind it....
Pulled the battery tray out of the tahoe and grinded all the rust off of it.
Hit it with primer and then a shot of dark gray paint.
I went with dual terminals for the same reason as the trailblazer - it just makes my life easier. I had a couple of extra xs power caps for the top terminals so I used them.
Now the story. Three weeks ago the night time temps started dropping in the single digits. The tahoe started having a dead battery at random times. It could sit for five days with no problems. Or it could sit for one night and be dead in the morning. I'd bring it to the shop, charge the battery, do a key off draw test, 5mA was normal, no problem found. Today was the last straw. I left my meter hooked up in series with the negative battery cable and got some lunch. When I came back she was chillin at 380ma. OH YEAH, finally some hard evidence! Pulling IGN A killed the draw. IGN A in my tahoe also powers the remote start brain, and remote start ACC/Start feed. Long story short, the r/s unit was putting power to ACC inter-freaking-mittently with the key off. I got lucky as hell that I caught it. Going through warranty claim now.
Well the advance auto battery that came with the Tahoe had taken a beating during this ordeal. Ran under 10v a couple of times. After the truck passed the draw test the first time I thought that maybe the battery is mad that it's cold out so started saving for a new one. If this was my daily driver I'd have kept it in there but since the wife and son cruise the coast in it it's better safe then sorry.
