Finally installed the BrakeMotive rotors and pads. After completing the break-in procedure, I have to say these are pretty amazing.

Got the new alt today. I was thinking about some things and I realized that the batts that I have now are getting close to 5 years old so guess it's time to replace them as well.
I can appreciate those images. It's rare you actually see a hand-done, customized-for-the-individual-unit tag on things these days. Usually it's just a printed one, "well this one test alternator we built did W amps at X RPM and Y amps at Z RPM so every alternator will do that." Bonus points for the individual inspector putting their initials to it instead of the usual "INSPECTOR NUMBER 348034" rubber stamp of approval.

Cleaned MAF and throttle body. Smoothed out the startup idle. Also played around with the vinyl film for the tail lights, did not turn out so well. I need three hands for that job. Might try my hand at VHT.
Our tai lights have way too much bumps! That must have been hard to try.

Change burned out brake light bulb. Thought I was going to replace rear speakers since rear passenger side was dead. But speaker seemed to check out. So did wires. But no sound? Switched speaker over to drivers side to narrow down the problem. Speaker worked. Must be the wiring. Put drivers side speaker in passenger side. Now both work??

Not sure what was up, but I guess I won't need the new rear speakers.

If you have the rear-seat audio, I'm willing to bet it's a loose connector.

And I just got done using it as a test bed for that work lamp I had purchased. Pretty dim night out, and I was parked fairly far enough away from the nearest street light where popping the hood I could only make out a couple details. The lamp brightens it all right up, I can even see the tensioner doing its little twitch. Now I'm sure I'm happy with the purchase.

That is true except for I was trying it on my IPCW tail lights which have a smooth surface and still had issues. Could not imagine doing it OE tail lights.

Gave some hotshot thinking his Tundra was a NASCAR because it says "TRD" on the side a run for his money. Kept feathering the gas coming off a stop light so I laid into it and got him to start going. A V8 (the smallest option of which has 276 HP on those second-gens) and at least a 5-speed transmission, and I held up. Got up to 45 MPH, then made my left turn into McDonald's while he went flying off continuing to speed down the other lane. Cops like to hang out just over the hill he was climbing. :rotfl:

Got up at six, cooked breakfast for the family and then spent about an hour removing the rear sway bar from the tb. After a quick drive around town for some bait my youngest daughter and I went for a trek on state land roads and then some fishing. She drove on some trails and we had a great day. Now grilling out in the yard and relaxing.uploadfromtaptalk1400446199991.jpguploadfromtaptalk1400446215013.jpg

Got cracking on the 2500 refresher-upper project. Today's mission was removing the spare tire carrier from the parts truck and banging it in the 2500 (it didn't come with one when I bought it....wtf).

Then I swapped out the tailgate latch since the pivot on mine sticks. I tried torching the pivot, pb'ing the pivot, etc but it was time to just swap it and be done with it.

I also swapped the chrome rear bumper from the parts truck to the 2500 so the front and rear match. It needs a little work before it's pic worthy.

As I recall from doing mine 80k miles and 3 years ago, the uppers weren't the worst thing, but those lowers were miserable.

Come to think of it, the lowers on my Camaro are also a royal pain.

Why GM did you make a LBJ job suck so bad!

I think the idea was "hey look guys now it holds together really really well!" Then they all start chanting SAFETY! SAFETY! SAFETY! YEAAAHHHH!! on the way to the coffee pot to refill so they can clink glasses and toast.

And to give an extra reason for someone to think taking it to a dealership is a good idea, under the idea they have a 10-ton press specially-designed to get back there on-hand just for this.

Started to build a set up for back up LEDs that sit on my draw bar as I leave my draw bar in all the time. Mounted the lights and will work on the wiring tomorrow. I know there are about 1000 ways to wire it up but I am trying to figure out something simple and low cost.

I also trimmed the cover where it seats so it doesn't so we will see with time. as for the boxes they are just temporary I have a guy that's going to make a custom fiberglass one for a single sub to right where the cubby is

194 bulbs bring the suck!
I had to change mine not too long after purchasing it. I didn't find it that bad at all. It was also at that time I stocked up on various bulbs, all stored in the right-side cargo cubby just in case. If I get pulled over for a blown lamp or fail inspection due to it, I can literally just fix it on the spot.

All of them on mine were burnt when I bought it, doubt they'd ever been changed before. I think the frustration was more directed at the fact that my truck is a vampire and draws a little blood every time I try and fix something.

Pliers help if you're careful. Or if you can find some rubber tubing with an inner diameter the same or ever-slightly smaller than the diameter of the bulb, it can greatly assist in changing a bulb, and reach hard-to-get ones. Also provides some grip if you're having trouble with the ones that turn to come out.
