Been waiting a loooooong time to say this! I'm sure most know my horror story behind the the beaSSt's motor troubles and all the back and forth bull shit with the dealerships. I'm proud to say that as of yesterday, the beaSSt IS MINE! I wrote my last check yesterday and will have the title in 3 weeks! She's paid for! The stress and sense of relief that has been lifted from my shoulders is just undescribable. As things are getting tight at my job, I can breathe that much easier knowing that I have 2 vehicles and both are paid for.

Congrats! I know the feeling. It was great paying mine off last year. I hope the engine troubles are behind you now so you can enjoy the beaSSt while it is officially yours

Congrats, with all the BS you dealt with GM should have reimbursed you for having your truck for so long. It is a great feeling, and my crazy ass is looking at buying another vehicle

Thx everyone. I'm still bickering a little bit with the dealership, but for the most part, the engine troubles have ceased to exist. Now that she is paid for, it will be easier to save money, and she will be built to my liking and without restraints from a dealership or warranties.

1940s Navy construction.

That explains it, looks like aluminum or vinyl replacement windows at some point, originals were probably wood which would actually set the look off quite differently.

Which one?

Filled up the Avalanche to an astonishing $42 from 5/8 of a tank, and drove it so my mother and future wifes mother could see it.

I also loaded all of the recovery gear into the TB mostly permanently, kept it out to save on fuel. Also going to work on a few things I was putting off for a weekend, now I can do it whenever I want.

Filled the tank and calculated the worse mpg I've ever had, barely 15mpg and that was mostly highway. I think this broken exhaust is screwing with me.

Damn, I feel your pain. 15mpg would be a great tank for me, And usually mostly highway driving.

Although after replacing the FPR my needle has barely moved over 100 miles.

Well, my baby was in need of some attention so I thought we would spend my birthday together. My mileage had dropped to about 13mpg and I needed to do something. So New set of Bosch Iridium plugs, new wires, new air filter, pulled and cleaned Mass Air Flow (definitely needed cleaning), Pulled and cleaned Throttle Body (really needed it bad), new battery, rotated tires, flush and fresh oil change, reset computer and cleared all pending codes (1 for maf and 1 for miss fire). WOW...Like driving a new truck. I'm sure the milage will drop some once I'm around town but new calc on the way to work this morning 22.9MPG!!!!!! I'll take it!!

And wasn't that a fun job?? ... my wires were almost like they were welded on, but maybe yours came off easier.

Mine came off easy...putting back on, not so much. I'm always afraid I did not get it on all the way, even after I hear the click.:crazy:

God your undercarriage looks so good. That sounds like a pickup line but seriously what did you do to your frame? Is that a rust coating or some type of spray paint or what brutha? My frame could use some of that for rust prevention.

I tried to go to a night class tonight but the storm was coming in and I didn't want to go and have no one else show up. I did drive around a little and the spec x tires were fine as far as I could tell.

Everyone was double parking in the garage looking for spaces but it said screw that my TB is a beast and just 4x4d it to the roof which is closest to my apartment. I took some glamor shots.

Mike I am going to have to agree, your undercarriage is immaculate.

All the new parts I replaced 4 months ago is covered in rust. Most of it is Moog stuff too. 1 drive to PA was all it took.

Well none of this was done today but i haven't posted in the past 3 weeks so ill just put pics of the few things ive done.
First was the resonator delete since I got an oreiley's auto giftcard. Then I got the lightbar I ordered and put it on the next day. I had picked an exhaust tip from a nissan 350z over the summer so I then decided to put it on about a week after the original resonator delete. And somewhere in there I replaced the fuel pressure regulator, put some anti squeal goo on the front brakes and at the same time found that my left tie rod end is shot. Any recomendations on tie rods?

I have Moog tie rods on my truck. 70-ish K miles on them no issues, though I had to replace the driver side because the inner rod fused itself to the outer. No fault of the Moog outer.

I just replaced all my bushings with Moog. What a PITTY. I cleaned my frame awhile back by power washing and then going over with a few flap wheels and by hand, then did POR-15 flat. Usually stays looking that fresh after a clean, I'm probably going to go over the underside with raptor liner next. I did just do the control arms for shits.

However, not much rust in FL and barely any rust on the vehicle to start.

I Wirebrushed and used VHT Epoxy paint is holding up beautifully on the frame. Mikes looks REALLY good, any way you do it. IT IS worth the time and effort

Mine was done similarly. Wire cup brush on a drill for some sections, good old degreaser and microfibers for the most part though.

I just used Ace Hardware's brand of Satin Black spray paint. Typically for car shows I pull the rims to acid wash them and clean the barrels, then I'll wipe everything down with degreaser and microfibers and respray what needs to be touched up.

Did you wire brush your rotors also or did you replace those? What's the consensus on painting the surface of the rotor that comes in contact with the pad? I'm with you on the "hat" part but isn't the surface there some sort of safety hazard?
