Used the Envoy to return beer cans and wine bottles, thank goodness the back seat goes down. 790 cans @.10 each for me and 2 wine bottles for my wife @.20 each, not sure what she gonna do with her .40 cents. The $79.00 came in handy to buy a few more beers for me and still have over $50 left. Maybe I'll go buy her some flowers now...

I've seen some of the pics of the boards you made, but never bothered to count. How many LED's were you able to fit on each board? By my calculations I have 288 5050 SMD's inside the cab, so equivalent to 864 of the smaller 3528's, then another 96 5050's for the license plate lights.

384 5mm all total. Of course, you don't have 3rd row seats, so 308 if I had a SWB. At some point I want to try to make my own SMD boards, I actually picked out the boards I want, and would try etching them by hand. All that chemical etching seems too complicated, and I don't have cash laying around to buy a milling machine. That's pretty far down on the mod list though.

Found it! Right at the hangers. I wonder if the shop can just weld it back up with a patch? :undecided:

Of course it has to be cracked on the TOP where they can't get to it easily

Are you not allowed to crush them before you bring them in?

Now I'm really curious lol, about 100 more than me but with different efficiencies. I think it would be close, but you're the mad scientist and would most likely edge me out haha. I was planning on building my own, but I don't have much free time and I'm lazy, the boards I bought were cheap as hell and do exactly what I want them to do. I'll save the soldering and tinkering for when I start tackling dash lights, window switches, etc.

I've done chemical etching of copper boards before, but it was in a high school electronics class. We just designed our circuits, drew them on the boards with sharpie, and let them sit in acid over night. The next day we just cleaned the sharpie off the expose the copper traces and drilled / soldered our components in. Not sure how well it would work with so many components, we were just setting up a potentiometer and aux cable to a 9v battery and a small 4" speaker.

…still messing with forces I don’t understand – the formula.

Some guy did it using a nice household solution of hydrogen peroxide, white vinegar, and some salt. There's a comments section at the bottom, not everyone had positive results but there's plenty who did. Worth a shot, you're literally out about 50 cents worth of fluids and salt if it doesn't.

It was that time of year to do some fluid changes. I was very surprised to find my oil pan super clean. :wootwoot:.
Current mileage 133,000, I got the truck with 109,000. I was expecting the worse since I had no maintenance record of anything.

I sat there for a moment and stared at it, thinking "Man wouldn't it be sweet if I (insert mod here)," then realized until I get my W2s that's one looooong pipe of a pipe dream.

Ya, we can crush em first. My neighbor has one of those crushers by the door to his shed and a big blue garbage can below it. When full he counts them out into green garbage bags. I on the other hand only have 1 sled in my trailer and after a case is full I put em in the trailer, outta sight and outta mind. I like the trailer cuz my wife doesn't usually see them. She did however see me load the Envoy today and as she gave me her 2 wine bottles she giggled and suggested I may have a problem. Usually I'm rushing to get to the beer store and don't want to bother getting the returns from the trailer and they accumulate.

In Iowa a lot of places said no. They only accepted certain brands for whatever reason (maybe they ship them back to their respective companies, I don't know) but they required them to be uncrushed, obviously have the etching on top saying IA 5 cents (which would still be there after crushing), certain brands, and sometimes there was a limit on how many could be brought in per day or week, which kinda put a damper on folks who collected cans out of the street which made the roads nicer-looking. They usually then counted them up and crushed them themselves anyway.

Just put winter tires on the Envoy ... what a difference. I had run with all weather tires before, but this last summer put on a new pair of all-seasons and they just weren't cutting it. Below -10ºC the traction would just disappear (even bad in 4WD).

The bad part is that my wife was scared to drive it before, so I had the Voy to myself. Now my son and wife want to share ....:hissyfit:

Some folks just don't get it. What's worse is the cheaper all seasons are even worse than a higher quality one in freezing temps.

What tire did you get??? Fan of Nokian, Xice, Blizz', and General's winter. ALMOST anything name brand.

Edit: I put Blizzaks on her car and now she doesn't want to drive the tb in bad weather.

The company I work for makes carbon fiber parts. So I used a hood emblem with the Carbon Creations logo to cover up the useless hole on my console. Goes good with my carbon fiber trim package.

^-----Probably should have cleaned up the shaping foam mess before taking a picture haha. I had to make a plug to fit inside the cavity because the emblem was about a mm too small to attach.

after replacing my power steering cooler yesterday by myself, I noticed another leak somewhere today.

Did an inspection and it looks like 1 of the transmission lines is leaking. Corroded through.

Decided that I am going to farm out the work and let them replace all the transmission lines.

I just don't want to replace 1 line and later down the road another line develops a leak.

Going to drop it off tomorrow at 8AM.

Hopefully back on the road by the end of the day.

I got Motomaster Total Terrain W/T which I think are made by Goodyear (Canadian Tire is the store). These were the only ones they had in stock for me, but I had heard they were good. I had Goodyear Triple Treads (an all weather tire) before, and they were OK in winter, but in the summer I bought Savero GTs, and these were excellent in the summer (quiet, soft ride, good traction) but weren't cutting it in the really cold weather we have had here.

I see you managed to get the Tb to yourself by giving the car winter tires ... smart!

Upgraded to my New/Used Pioneer Navi Head Unit with custom Splash Screen.

Now I just have to fine the right adapters so I retain my chimes. I can care less about the onstar since I pulled all of the old onstar system out of the truck.

I myself got some Goodyear Forteras (M/S) while they were on sale a couple years ago. I don't know too much about the mud part, and we haven't had it too bad this year over this way (though when snow came it came pretty good). Haven't felt compelled to engage 4x4 once (even if I wanted to, it still needs the axle disconnect redone), and that's with going over some hilly/mountain terrain. Not too bad, all in all, if you know what you're doing and use the second-gear selection to your advantage.

Then again, maybe it's because I find 4x4 systems (except in extreme cases) should be more of an auxiliary tool than a crutch. If one can handle the road and conditions in 4x2 well, they're getting good practice for certain scenarios such as 4x4 being inoperative, or being in someone else's vehicle (which does of course change things).

Currently running Fortereas. They're great in snow when they're new, and not too bad in mud - and they run super quiet on the highway as a bonus. The only problem I have with mine is they haven't seemed to last as long as I'd like, they're getting down toward needing replaced right now, but I'm holding out as long as I safely can. Glad the snow I've had to travel in hasn't been all that bad, and that I was brought up knowing how to drive in adverse conditions.

I had those too, and I agree they do not last to the posted tread life - not even close.

changed plugs this evening...wasn't happy seeing a couple of them as they came out
(guess which one is the new one)

yes I admit this is the first time I've done this since I bought my TB...I saw oil on the threads of #3 plug, guess I'm in for some engine work soon

also tried to troubleshoot my left brake light
B0DA81D1-1334-4DEC-989E-8447EE8A27F6_zpssfgvmy5i.jpg

seems there is a break in a wire or two, which one is for the brake light because the running light, turn signal and reverse lamp all work fine

A little oil on the threads doesn't mean you need engine work. It is common for the little donut gaskets for the valve cover around the plug wells to seep some oil on OHC engines. Unless there was a ton of oil I wouldn't worry about it at all. Maybe make sure the valve cover bolts are snug but that's about it. I had oil around a couple of my plugs when I changed them 80k miles ago. Shoot, I'm coming up on needing new plugs again soon.

My Haynes says the light blue wire is brake. And it looks like the one light blue wire is damaged pretty good.

Today I put in a new battery. The Envoy failed to start when it was -13 F on one of those cold mornings. I had the battery (AC-Delco '09) checked at Partsource and it only had 310 cca. Due to threads I read here I bought an EverStart Maxx N-78 for $107. Seems to work well. I also noticed my coolant reservoir was almost empty. New thread to come on that issue.

I am not sure on your coolant situation, but in my V8 I have noticed for the last few years it goes down very slowly. Maybe every 6 months I have to add to the reservoir. How fast is yours dropping?
