Yeah, I just double checked his thread on ORTB, the general conscious and thing that came up is the few guys with issues have 04's. Plenty of us have swapped without issues. But folks need to be aware of the compatibility issues with the years. Like you can't stick an 03 on an 07 for sure.

I get more and more disappointed everytime I read an update about his issues. While 4:10s would be awesome I think I can still make a capable vehicle with the 3.42's. Can't wait to pick up a spare vehicle so I am not always trying to tear apart and reassemble the DD so I can go to work the next day.

Shdwagon is only one to have shit freak out. Regulators works perfect. The ones before mine from Trailvoy had no issues. The others on here did not have issues. Mine is newer but Fishsticks was older and Aleks was. We all had no issues.

I would not be scared to swap at all. His is only one to have issues and I think its poor luck since there are multiple cases showing the swap is fine.

You'd lose 4x4 unless you changed the front diff.

Even then you'd lose ABS as the system would freak out over the gear changes. And on a 2005 or older you cannot fix that. Someone here has run into this, not sure if he ever got around that issue somehow or not. I think he ran into shift point problems too as the computer was beyond confused.

You need to do some more research... he is only one to have issues. Others been fine for years.

Excuse the salt, it's currently 15*F and the warmest it's been in days. Getting a wash after work. Put a black tip on but it's too dark out.

Oh yea I didn't even think about 4wd when talking about the rear axle since my truck is rwd. It would take a lot more to get the 4.10 rear end to work on a 4wd if you want to retain the front axle.

The more I post about your truck, the more I realize that you're right and just starting fresh with a 5.3 would solve almost all of your problems lol

All it takes is swapping the front diff.

Well..... guess I'm going to be cleaning the side of my truck for the next hour....

Decided to pull the side molding while randomly fiddling in the garage. Lazy fridays.

When I did my moldings, I had good luck with Bug and Tar remover and a clean towel for bulk of it, then a little buffer wheel action and it was like they were never there.

I like it better with them removed on yours.

Yeah body work is on my list of fixes to get done in the next couple of months. I'm going to do the raptor liner here eventually too and finish my fenders. I got some lead solder from Eastwood to finish where my father in law left off.

I also just pulled most of the stickers off the rig too. The wife won't let me pull our stickers from our trip. But right now they're the only ones on the rig.

Need new ORTB decals, mine faded into oblivion.

This is what I used on our XJ to get the adhesive off......Rubber Eraser Wheel.

Worked amazingly excellent for a truck with 15 years old moldings.

Where did you pick that up? Looks amazing.

You can get them at any auto parts or auto body supply shop. I used one when I debadged the hatch on my tb this summer.

Trust me, i've done a lot of thinking and looked at a couple trucks already
I went to the range rover dealer and checked out a 2006 supercharged and the sales man told me that it would spend more time in the dealer for repair than on the road
Checked out a 2005 porsche cayenne S but i didnt like the interior or the exterior, looked like a tortiouse
Also went to see a 2008 tahoe ltz and i liked it quite a bit but i'm staying in the gmt360 platform because of many reasons
1.it has the 5.3 (same as tahoe) but lighter
2.the 9-7x and some of the denalis have the 3.73 gears
3.smaller and more managable compared to the tahoe
4.last but definitly the main and most important point is that its a gmt360 and i know so much about my voy already and this forum and tbssowners has all the info i'd ever need to fix or mod the truck
Just the info alone is worth more than money can buy (thats not even including all the helpful people yet lol)

I installed the 1.3 front/3 rear drop because this TB is 4wd, it's a 2005 LS. I do recommend these if your on a budget, I really would like NORCAL SS true 3/4 but probably down the line when I can afford all the components but it doesn't nose dive in breaking as much and feels planted.

Rides stiff when compressed due to the design but is def alot more fun and feels more car like as before the truck rolls etc.. And most importantly it's level which is what most GF tb owners have said from older posts. Sorry for night pics and dirt I will get better ones tomorrow.

Mac:thumbsup:

Drove to work on snow covered roads. Its soooo nice having awd!!!!

I put the snows on last night. I went for a fun drive on the snow covered roads this morning. I really enjoyed the drive, with the G80 and the traction/stablitrak turned off. Then I put it in 4x4 for a bit and enjoyed the traction. Driving in snow with these trucks is a blast!

Went and bought all of the stuff to do the light bar for the roof. On a note, I did not know that the C-channel stuff was in the electrical department at Lowes. At $16 for 10' its a hell of a lot cheaper than some square stock or angle iron. Will begin construction today, still working on the mounting tab idea to hold it to the roof rack.

thanks my man, I believe it's dark grey metallic color code. It has the 05' two tone interior which is tan/blk as well.

Went to go check my exhaust out. Cut off the resonator. 5 hours later father and me went back because he said it was too droney and annoying. They scrapped my oem resonator so added a magnaflow resonator. Sound seems low. Haven't been able to speed with it yet

Did they add a straight pipe and tip or just cut off the resonator?

Strange. When I cut my resonator off it was loud, but once I added a straight pipe and tip, the drone went away for the most part. Gave the exhaust frequency a lower tone.

My exhaust tone has been really weird lately. But with the magnaflow resonator it's so quiet now inside. Haven't been able to do any hard driving because of the snow but hopefully it'll sound good

Does the exhaust tip extend past the lip on the rear bumper? If the exhaust is too short it will echo inside the rear bumper and drone like a mother.

Mine drones bad right now, but the big hold in the muffler has a little something to do with that

So glad I bought my own ride at 18 and my parents could not say shit. Ripped the muffler off my 350 TPI Z28 and let exhaust dump right over rear axle. Loved that car!
