Yup, duplicolor black gloss caliper paint and gloss clear caliper paint (guaranteed to not chip, flake, crack etc.)
The wheel paint and caliper paint are the same but wheel paint has metallic flakes in it

Never thought about using caliper paint on wheels :undecided:

Me neither :rotfl: i went in to buy black wheel paint but they sold out so it was either caliper paint or engine enamel :raspberry: and i did some research in the store on my "smartphone" and caliper paint is just a little thicker than their wheel paint and engine enamel is a little more flexy/rubbery

Thanks for the heads up . I am going to have to look into this.

Also finally got annoyed at the rattle in the rear enough to crawl under it and check it out. Yup, end links are shot, the balls are loose in the sockets. Interestingly enough the fronts are actually looser than the rears but they've not made much noise.

So... Moog again (easier to install), OEM (the originals lasted longer), or another brand? :undecided:

If the finances can handle it, get the SMAXX. FTW

Trimmed the inner fender liner, corner of bumper which was dragging in reverse, and whacked the rocker cover front bolts with the sledge to move that back a bit.

Maybe for the next truck. In all honesty I suspect this truck may be done for within the next 50k as that would be a few more years of rust cancer creating more holes :frown:

this was on the way searching around the local dealerships for auto trac ii, figured we might as well make a pit stop and get a new air filter as the fram was nearing the end of its life.

the wheels look awesome...you painted them like a boss.....(reference to the manager parking space)...

Thanks! Took my time with rattle cans. Primer first. I used several coats going back and forth in painting order to allow drying time before coats. I didn't take the wheels of and I used index cards to keep paint from getting on the tires. And The manager of the apartments wasn't working so that was the perfect spot to paint them. Just in case of any over spray to other vehicles.

Took a couple of hours to give the Saab some loving. Nice wax job and detailed inside and out. Painted the center of the rotors and put another coat on the calipers. :wootwoot:

Looks great, the only thing I would have done different is to paint the pads themselves black. It would help break up the blue on the calipers, and show the clear distinction between caliper and pad to make the caliper a little more pronounced. Maybe you could also order some vinyl stickers that either say SAAB or 97X AERO ? Either way it looks great

Yeah I agree. Next time I get the chance I'm going to paint the pads black to off set it.

what were the specifics on the rattle can paint job for the wheels? brand, type of paint, where did you pick it up, and how much? thanks.

Just the cheap flat black and gloss black from walmart. A buck a can lol. I put probably 4 coats on each rim. Should hold up pretty good. They look a hell of allot better than they did before.

Drivers side motor mount and LF axle seal tomorrow morning. Need to do both mounts but this way I can get two birds, generally the lifted mount gets worn quicker so maybe this will cure the shake.

So all this talk of cold air intakes I was brainstorming and picked up this used intake set, everything up to the TB including the IAT sensor...all for $25 so not much hurt to the wallet. I only used the flexible intake tube and cut the part that sits under the filter cover. Then I just attached both tubes together and pulled both air filter change indicators and used those ports for the PCV and the FPR.

This is by no means permanent but just a trial run, the tubes aren't smooth but they are far more smooth than the catacomb of the intake resonator just before the TB butterfly...which surely disrupts the airflow. I can say on the trip home from work...after a little PCM adjustments, the response is smoother and not as many "dead spots" when you lightly press on the gas.

Of course when you get on I there's that bellow.... and I think I may need to slap a couple Injen stickers on my fenders.

This is why I'm trying to bypass the resonator right now, there's no way that's a smooth flow into the TB. Surely a lot of turbulence when velocities increase.

Finally installed the Avalanche third brake light. Blackshdw's write up was great esspecially the wire color code info.

As I'm admiring the work I notice the right rear brake light is out. I used the spare 3057 I had on the other side last year. So off to the parts store to get another.

Now I can admire my work with it getting dark. And if anybody can't see the new third brake light, they're blind.

New battery.

called to verify they had the right size in stock, but when I carried the old one in, noticed the one they had was dual terminal.

( I went with an interstate MTP 78DT)

so I think I will just leave the plastic cover and steel rod off. those nuts and bolts were getting pretty rusted anyway.

I figure the bottom mount will keep the battery attached to the car.

Replaced LF axle seal and LH motor mount.....what a PITA but it's done. So much for that theory on the lifting mount failing first, especially not with these vehicles. Fired it up and I noticed a lot more smoothness....until I put it in "D" :frown:

Still has some shake at 600 RPM but not as much....but in reverse......nice and smooth. Pass side is next week.

Okay, not today, but last weekend...

Installed my new Pioneer DEH-X8500BH in the 'Hoe. Over my old Pioneer, it added Bluetooth phone and music, a rear USB plug with cable, HD radio tuner, two custom EQ settings and a front audio input. All for $151. :wootwoot:

2013-09-15_18-19-24_178_zpsd983324c.jpg

The SS got new tags. The old ones were 11 years old and starting to look like crap. I'll keep them around since they were on my Impala SS. New Ohio vanity tags no longer have raised letters.

Get at my level. My PA license plate is 18 years old. Guess they just don't make em like they do in PA.

Yep, she's in the cave. Other projects needed to take priority with both money and time. So, not much was ever done to it. :frown:

Probably not. PA is steel town, after all.

It's not that I needed to replace them now. I really could have gotten a few more years out of them. This is a new tag design, so people will think I just bought her. :rotfl:
